can you do Guess the ELO series where you review a match without knowing their Elo and at the end you guess their Elo and you have to guess within 50 elo for example if you guess 1150 and they are 1120 this considered a good guess, it would be fun watching you analyzing the game like that

I think that'd be much easier to do in AoE compared to chess. You don't randomly have a terrible game in AoE or randomly accidentally play really good moves lol. Either you're good or you're not. So it should be pretty easy to guess their elo.
I'm not saying chess players are randomly skilled. But you can get real lucky or really unlucky pretty quickly unless you're a GM and know every move on the board. In AoE, not so much. Your feudal and castle times will be a dead giveaway for the most part. As well as ability to fight, without Idle time.
More 1700 content please!! I think it's one of the most fun elos because of the structure without perfection which results in much more adapting. Love these casts!

I think extreme AI's "ELO" score kind of varies depending on what age it's in, this is it in my opinion:
dark age - around 900 ELO : great build orders and macro, struggles against any pressure or cheese strats
feudal age - around 1K ELO : again very solid builds and makes quite a few units but still very vulnerable to things like TC drops, tower rushes, scout or archer rushes, even M&A. Will rush you if left alone
castle age - around 1200 ELO : starts to get hard to cheese it, but you can still castle drop it, or cheese it with unique units or a hoang rush, things like that. Otherwise it will attack you with a bunch of units
imperial age - around 1300 ELO : this is where extreme AIs (and custom AI like barbarian) shine, they will mass a lot of units and have such a good macro that it's hard to keep up with it. They don't outpost/castle to secure the map, but they don't really need to because, well... AI cheats, it knows where enemies are without necessarily having to scout it.
From my hundreds of hours playing against AI, you gave a very accurate description of AI introduced in AOE2 DE. 😆

This is about what I've heard and found. I think recently I heard it doesn't "cheat" like it used to, but basically feels that way because it knows all upgrades, comp, counter balance, and resource decisions to make with prefect accuracy. I don't think it sees through the fog of war though. Still can't get past extreme myself. Soon though!

As an 13xx arena clown, the macro of this game absolutely gave me chills.
Wheel of Destiny picks Arena. It knows how good the map is.
I feel like red needed to be *far* more aggressive. Once you realize your opponent's going full boom behind their walls, put some forward siege workshops and bring out the mangonels and rams to punish them for it.
Realizing early and knowing what to do with that info is the hard part of this beautiful game.
at your wedding if daut isn't your best man failing to build a castle on your face then it's not worth doing

I always play Blues approach on arena. Most of the time an investment in booming puts you further ahead than having relics, just need to finish the job quick in early imp. The res that go into light cav and monks just takes so long to pay back and theres plenty of gold on the map that it isnt usually a factor.
I have a Keybinding for "Ctrl", and another for "Shift", both setup on my Razer mouse, thus
"Select All" - "Crtl" + "Shift" + 's type commands become faster.
After losing my first ranked games I managed to win at around 753 elo, and this is my current working setup, my first BOs include "Frank FC into Knights", and "Turk Fast Imp 28+2+2 bbc, hc", and those keybindings seem to be helping the managing the eco side of things.
I was wondering how do other people set up these types of keybindings, and or hotkeys, and if they have any other good BOs to suggest based on my comment. ^^

I just use default DE hotkeys, ordered like the icons are displayed, top left is Q, next to it W for each building or unit. Idle vill scroll wheel, ctrl+building is select building, shift+building is select all. Shift + scroll wheel select all idle. Works well for me. My gameplay is the issue not my hotkeys (+/- 1400)
@@bont3do you mean mouse scroll wheel as in clicking it? I have that set to the default, go to previous sound alert. Ironically, about this games meme, i find it makes collecting relics much easier as you set the way point from the monastery and when you hear the sound you just click the scroll wheel button select the monk and task him back to the monastery.

@@paulomartins1008 Well I would say, make the most used button as easy accessible as can be. checking idles has never been easier for me. And since AoE is largely an economic game it made me much better. I have it set on click scroll wheel but I know some players also put it on scroll up / down. In the end it's a preference thing :) If you look at the hotkey bindings of Hera or other pros it doesn't make sense to us. Because they completely configured it. Test some stuff out and just improve over the time. Don't focus on it too much. On our level it's mostly the gameplay that needs improvement. Not the hotkey combinations 11

I like going for the map control at my much lower ELO. This is more about spotting and denying a castle drop than getting the relics. They're just something to pick up if I can.
I suppose I should try learning to defend against a castle drop on arena while booming at some point. Anyone have a good video on that they can suggest?
You always have everything hotkey'd if you use grid :D
(Then you can use CTRL a/s/d/f for select all barracks,range,stable,siege)

Reaching imp before building a castle seems strange.
I think red's mistake here is that he allowed the free boom for blue. He didn't use his map control to pressure at all with siege, or anything to force a reaction from blue. Although maybe a forward play against Tatars with the early 2 TC boom was always doomed?

problem for blues full boom strat is he cant do it when he faces a castledrop or another allin strat, its "only" strong when he faces sb who goes for boom aswell and is slower due to the relics
I tried to castle drop in most arena games and I usually lost when my opponent boomed and defended with siege and building walls like blue did. Guess I just suck at execution.

Anyone know why my villagers are acting up? Sometimes when they finish a resource under my tc they go for straggler trees even tho theres plenty of food under tc and sometimes vills will automatically kill sheep/deer since they dont have "enough" space under tc, anyone else experiencing this? EDIT: Also woodline villagers go stuck sometimes?
