The Corrs are absolutely amazing, I always have wet eyes when they say "the neighbors were all dead & gone, the young ones were turning grey"...what a beautiful song!!!!
Ależ to jest dobre! Choć dziś mam już 29 lat, pamiętam jak zarywałem nocki w gimnazjum na słuchaniu ich płyt i oglądaniu koncertów.... kapitalna muzyka, świetny wokal! Uwielbiam The Corrs! :)
Beautiful! Andrea's singing and the Corrs playing Irish folk music must continue. They have really brought traditional Irish songs to all parts of the world. And we love it. Great ambassadors for Ireland.
I will never this song til i die. it reminds me of the love of my life. caroline corcoran of tooting london. she was irish and lovely human being god bless you caroline
OMG Me and my boys just found out that Micheal Considine is my ancestor. First time listening to this song and its pretty dam good. I feel very proud to be Irish. :)
For years I’ve been trying to find this song somewhere on UA-cam, but I’ve never been able to find it. My dad use to sing it every night to me before bed, but now i only hear it from him once a year. I love the voice here to, but in my opinion my dad has the perfect deep voice for this song and i absolutely love it. I finally found the song, thank you for having it on your channel.
Very nice indeed. My only problem with this version is that it misses the last lyrics where he wakes up. I prefer also when a man sings it I like the intro of Cruachan's spancilhill version.
@@aquadarius2727 I dreamed I held and kissed her. As in the days of yore. Oh Johnny you're only jokin' as many the times before. The cock crew in the mornin' , he crew both loud and shrill. I awoke in California. Many miles from Spancil Hill
This is my favorite song on the Corrs' album Home. This was however the first time i've read something about the origin of the song. The story really moved me actually... Thanks for both the clip as the story behind the song, i've enjoyed listening to it (again), the song has been echoing in my head all day. :-)
J'aimerais que l'on me dise si j'ai tort à ce propo, mais ne serait-ce pas du Biniou à la fin ? Si non de quel instrument sagit-il ? Merci et like ireland !
Without the bit in the original about "I woke in California many miles from Spancil Hill" that should be at the end the song loses much of its poignancy. Not the best version around in my opinion.
how could you mis-spell Spancilhill when its right in front of you? and its spelt Clooney!!!!!! ha ha ha if you turn left at the cross i am the first house at the right up on the hill. And thats my grandmothers house where the car is parked
I personally think that the breathing gives it a bit of a "more true and alive" sound... It doesn't sound like they edited it so much! Thats exactly what I love about this version😄
This is the worst version ever of Spancil Hill! The Corrs have cut the essential last verse, the climax: "I dreamt I held and kissed her as in the days of yore She said, “Johnny you’re only joking like many’s the time before” The cock crew in the morning, he crew both loud and shrill And I woke in California, many miles from Spancil Hill." - and the young Irish emigrant who wrote it, Michael Considine, died that same year, 1873, in California. He was just 23 years old. (So it should be sung by a man.) Listen to Christy Moore singing the complete song on his "Prosperous" album.
Oh dear, what an awful version. Over produced, plodding, and what is the orchestration all about? It's a folk song; a guitar, fiddle and whistle is enough. And where is the last, and important, verse? I'm fond of The Corrs but this is poor.
The Corrs are absolutely amazing, I always have wet eyes when they say "the neighbors were all dead & gone, the young ones were turning grey"...what a beautiful song!!!!
Yes that line gives me a chill
Woow!❤

Loved this song for years. Interesting version. Corrs were fantastic in Glasgow yesterday

What lovely memories this song brings back in the old country

So good to hear the Coors sing this one.

Ireland's sense is so touched....Thanx a lot...Good Luck 2 u Da corrs...Big hug
The instrumental part of the end...wowwww I loooooooove it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saaame, if only I could find a longer version of it!!
The drumming at 2:00 (and then later at 3:44) on the bodhran is really nice.

caitlin Worley hi cat I've been singing this song in Irish pubs in London for 25 years
Shane macgowan and Christy Moores version is sung very deeply
You should record him and put it up!
@@fabriclondon9057 is it a popular song reading by the corrs?
There's some brilliant versions of this song but this has to be the best. Not just for the beautiful singing but also the arrangement.
Very nice indeed. My only problem with this version is that it misses the last lyrics where he wakes up. I prefer also when a man sings it I like the intro of Cruachan's spancilhill version.

Learned this on my fiddle awhile ago as a fledging fiddler. The words really tie it all together. Thanks.
This is my favorite version of this song!

Oh guys this song is unbelievable, i keep listening to it over and over, purity itself !!
By far the best version of this beautiful song. By the way, in the first verse the lyrics are "... and followed with a will..". Thank you for posting.
You clearly haven’t heard Christy and Shane’s version on the Gay Byrne show…….
Jesus I much I love this version!! Hugs to my buddies in the green island
Best version.
Just 2 Words to Say

Oups autant pour moi, merci.
I was wondering the exact same thing. It's not Trout in the Bath, though, as Christiane Carson suggested :/

Who are the tone deaf, 34 haters? This is great music!!
Dropkick Murphys is the best...
pretty sure its The Trout in the Bath
fantastic song, but i think Cruachan version is better
Alexei Kozlovsky Me too.!!
I like trains.
Too bad they changed the words...
Good but I don't want to hear breathing when singing.
I personally think that the breathing gives it a bit of a "more true and alive" sound... It doesn't sound like they edited it so much! Thats exactly what I love about this version😄
Technically very good but bereft of emotion. Colourless. If you think this is good you really should check out other versions that are around.
Corrs version is good but Jim McCann really puts the emotion it it. ua-cam.com/video/lLC9GdWIenI/v-deo.html
Prefer Paddy Reillys version!

Dislike si tu l'aprend en cours
