I remember watching this game as a 5-year old brazilian and falling in love with Liverpool that day. Even though everyone in Brazil cheered for Milan that day given the big brazilian names on the team (Kaka, Cafu, Dida), I couldn't get over the fact that I had witnessed such an impossible comeback from an underdog. Now I'm 21 and even more passionate about my Reds, hoping I get to watch a game at Anfield someday.

This was the greatest game of football I ever saw. I started to support Liverpool in late 2004 and this was my first season as a Liverpool fan. I was deflated when we was 3 nil down at half time and I said to my dad you might as well turn the tv off because I thought we had lost it, thank the heavens though that my dad still had some hope because some Liverpool fans did switch the tv off at half time and till this day they regret it. That comeback was unbelievable and you can tell the AC Milan players were completely shocked that they couldn’t even take their penalties. And that Dudek double save just wow, after that save you could tell it was just written in the stars. 14 years later I saw the second greatest game ever when we beat Barcelona 4 nil at Anfield, and now after 16 years of being a Liverpool fan finally we are Premier League champions. Liverpool may not do things the easy way, but boy do we do things the amazing way.

me too.....my wife and I were travelling to Portugal with our young son for a holiday the afternoon of the final and when we landed I saw two of the security guys at Faro airport watching the kick off in a small office as we waited to get through customs...we were met by a friend who we were staying with and his house was over an hour's drive from the airport...by the time we got to his house and had dinner and a drink I'd completely forgotten about the game...when I finally remembered I ran to the TV and asked his to put the game on..he didn't like football but found a local channel showing the game..when it came on the penalties were just about to start...and that was it...I ended up lying on the floor in tears....I missed the whole game but got to see Liverpool win it.......it was a long night !

Not only was it a miracle to come back from 3 down at half time, but to also beat a Milan side that to this day is considered one of the greatest club squads to grace the sports. The fact that by the second half Dudek practically had them all in his back pocket is still unbelievable to this day.
I literally cannot imagine the pressure, the intensity from Liverpool that night.. Walking down that Player Tunnel and right next to them they can see names like Kaka, Seedorf, Gattuso, Maldini, Dida, Sevchenko.

on my birthday
I was crying
I was 14 then. Went into the game as a die hard AC Milan fan and came out of it as a Stevie G fan.
The man made me cheer for a team that was facing off against my team. A team that was down 3-0 at half time. A team that had no business being in a UCL final at that time. A team that had no chance in hell to net a goal, let alone make a historic comeback against one of the strongest teams in European football history. I had goosebumps watching this live. I still do, whenever I watch any replay of this match.
It made me feel anything was possible, and gave me a very positive outlook on life.

Gerrard, the greatest player to not win a Premier League title, but this one was so amazing to watch back in the day, a truly class player, a lot of people mock him for "The slip" but, personally, I was so heartbroken for the guy, I'd like to see Liverpool win the league soon.

@@mayank1911 True, like Stevie said they had top players in every position... Maldini, Cafu, Pirlo, Kaka, Shevchenko, Crespo, Dida... Liverpool were the undisputed underdog and still won... BUT against Barca we didnt have Salah, Frimino and keita... we played with Subs in front and the bench was short... Still in my eyes the 2005 win was, is the better one, not only because that night i became a true Lpool fan, but cuz it was done in one match, the players had only 15min (in the halftime) to gather their thoughts, concentrate and motivate themselves. The turning point was again the fans and their massive support even when they were 3-0 down... Probably only Dortmund and Liverpool have that kind of fans, that dont give up, that stand till the last moment behind their team shout and sing the songs, silencing the enemy's crowd. The one thing i know i want (for now) to do before i die is to be at a game of Liverpool in Anfield!

You cant say that. This was more surprising. They only had half time to tie, which seemed impossible due to Milan's great defence. Plus Liverpool was a defending team, so when they got scored 2 times, they went to a ttack, something they weren't used to. In the end, the miracle happened and they scored the tie.
This is one of the BEST ucl finals out there. Underdogs facing one of the best teams? seems impossible, but they made it possible. And a dramatic penalty shootout to end it, what a final🔥🔥🔥

I was a military high school student when this was the final. We were assigned to the show. After the show, I had the chance to watch the game near the field. 6 goals and all penalties were 20 meters ahead of me. It was the best day of my life.

That milan side... is still one of the best eleven in club football history , to be able to come back from 3-0 in 45 minutes and mentain the score for another 30 , it was really a miracle

Smicer was way past his prime, he was 32-33 in this match. his contract was not renewed by the club and he decided to end his Liverpool career in style before moving to other non EPL club.
And to think, he only score one goal that season. The most important one without doubt.
