I don't watch many Friday Night Paper Fights, but when it's canlander, I watch more religiously than I do any other regular magic content. I love this format, and this is the best place to watch it. Also, I'm always rooting for Ben, he's my fav
I would normally try to bring a less polarizing deck for a stream, but I was tagged in last minute and didn't have a chance to build anything other than what I already had built.
@@CanadianHighlander It will be magnificent to behold. Can't wait to watch it. Canlander has become my new favourite format to watch thanks to you guys.
Is there any other places to watch POWERFUL MAGIC? I love your streams so much, and would love to watch more of the format, but wanna know of any other quality channels that do non-Commander Highlander
However, the question was non-Commander Highlander. EDH is just the original name of the Commander format. And unfortunately, I do not know of other channels that would play Highlander, at least not in this point in time.
I do not know the name of the channel but I remember there was a another channel streaming canlander on twitch. If you want to look for it: One of the hosts was part of one of the preprereleases and I think he wore a bowtie or something like that. Maybe it still exists and you find it.
I've seen some twitch streams have canadian highlander, there might still be vods. Geekfortess, krakenquake, and potatomtg. Also was interesting to see some youtube personalities try out the format but that is 2+ years old ua-cam.com/video/WHOKWGWk8eQ/v-deo.html
These games were sweet! I only have 1 gripe -.- The link for Ben Wheeler's list is not the same list :( and I'm building Sorenson, so I'm super curious about the list played...
After saying A Kingdom of Cards or Pay Them So They Pay Us, they should add 'And Jeej, if you want us to say the actual slogan... come up with a better one."
Yeah, its a camera being fed through a database that has cards loaded into it. Not every card or art is available of course because they have to be individually scanned in
the problem with it is that you can never tap out, you essentially stone rain yourself to take care of a creature...for the same mana cost, 1, you can fatal push...or vendetta...or innocent blood...or dismember even...just better options is the real reason i guess
@@willemboele2079what do you mean you can't lose? you're having to pay at least one extra mana every single turn to keep the creature dead. At that point, literally any decent 2-3 mana removal spell is way better as you only have to pay the mana once and it's not easily removable.
play this card on turn 6-7 in a control deck, you cannot lose. i have had it happen many times, not once have i lost the same game in which imprison resolved.
@@willemboele2079 Doesnt imprison only work on 1 creature though? Like you have to put it on one creature and that is it. How does That win you the game?
Given my hand and how this match typically plays out, putting mana into Village, while opening it up to disruption isn't exactly where I want to be. I'm not going to win the game by chipping away slowly, while simultaneously going shields down. UG has the tools to get around Maze of Ith, without putting much on the line, and there was no urgency from Jer's side to try and close.
Thanks Ben, wasn't a criticism at all, loved to see the evil U/W being taken down like that ;) Was just wondering what your thought processes were there as I totally would have tried to close out the game a turn or two earlier because I am impatient and bad at the magics. I have no doubt you played that correctly!
@@viperion_nz Oh 100% didn't take it that way. From a viewer perspective (especially in formats like canlander) it is hard to keep track of hands or other known information. Having played Sorensen vs U/X control countless times over the years, you can get away with matching the slower pace of the control decks when needed. You'll often be playing a very similar suite of blue cards, but packing pay-off cards that feel less clunky than your control/midrange opponent.
wait, wasn't Ben's (Wheeler) Tarmagoyph suppose to be a 2/3 instead of 3/4 against Cam? he had an Instant and a land in his graveyard, the Creature was exiled by Swords to plowshares
@LoadingReadyLive another rules break: 2:08 when Cam casted Hear-Pierced Manticore, Ben should react right away when Cam said "comes into play so i sacrifice this and shoot your thopter." . Ben cant respont do resolving Manticores triggered ability, because when it goes on the stack, it constains "may sacrifice", the decision(if i sacrifice) is made when trigger resolves. Meaning Either Ben should kill his thopther and Cam could shoot something else, or also decide not to sacrifice Cutthroat after thopter was dead.

Which one? XD
Seeing Jeremy spinxss Rev for six and draw two board clears brought back a lot of my painful memories
I love aggro-control v control match-ups...that last round was such great Magic
Those counter wars were sweet. Stuff I live for in MtG.
watching that last match reminded me of the first ever standard deck I built. as a control player, tempo decks was always my hardest match up.
Jeremy scooped up Ben's Elspeth 1:02:46 lol
Mr. Steal yo girl.
Thank you Jeremy for defending vintage! Format is a ton of fun, and the games are quite compelling!
The two best words when playing against a blue player is "It Resolves" Maniacal laughter HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I hope bens date went well!!!!
I think it was on the Call of Cthulhu Let's Nope ep 2 that Ben said his date did not go well. Not sure if it's the same date though.
How could anyone not wanna date Ben? What a cutie ^-^ Don’t give up, sweet planeswalker boy. There’s a Tomik for every Ral.
Many months later, just saying that Ben is now living with his girlfriend, so even if that date didn't go well, one eventually did :)
Yikes, Jeremy's deck name is real accurate. Feel bad for Ben, but that's Canlander for you.

yeeees! So cool to see Cam, Ben, Jer and Ben! My faves!
Since Cam asked, Dryad Arbor has to be with the creatures on the board.
yeah, I think that is what it should be at least. I think the mtgo layout is great, creatures in front, lands behind, other things to the side
AHH BEN hope your date went well!
Okay, so I'm way too late but does anyone know if the vod exists where they actually played muscle wizards or is it just a meme?
Love Canlander! Thank you guys.
Cam! I’ve just finished reading Use of Weapons and the book is SO FUCKING SMART! Genius!
Ben vs jeremy were some fun games to watch

There is some stuff on the Canadian Highlander youtube channel but most of it is set reviews and some games from 1-2+ years ago

Ben's deck being boxed hurts me physically
Ah...the times when ragavan was nothing but a token
At 54:40 Jer plays a marsh flats and a library on the same turn. Pretty sure this is unintentional and results of a cluttered board state.

If people still aren't convinced that Canlander is the best format then they're silly geese.
Doesn't even come close to Chaos Draft.
I would argue but by association I would become a silly goose
Is the overlay card updating related to them placing their cards on the Blue mana symbol repeatedly? Is this some sort of software?
Yeah, its a camera being fed through a database that has cards loaded into it. Not every card or art is available of course because they have to be individually scanned in
I wonder if Ben has gotten tired of hearing “Wanna duel?” as they produce a Yu-Gi-Oh deck rather than a Magic deck
Why didn't Ben Return Kari to his hand
sad jeremy dosent play the no wincondition/ elixir variant
what does everyone think about the card "imprison"? i never see it and i feel that it should be more appriciated
