Here's something I learned from experience: If u can't do a pivot (or 180 kickturn) while moving, DONT learn reverts. Master ur pivots. Once ur pivots feel second nature to you, trying revert will be SOO much easier. U can think of revert as a pivot, where instead of pressing down on the nose, u simply shift some of ur weight into the nose. That will allow u to do a pivot with ur wheels dragging, which is pretty much what a revert is.
I’m 36 and over weight, Iv been skating nearly a year and could do nothing but pushing for months. Since I discovered this channel my progression has improved so much. Thank you for this!!!
Way to go! im just getting back on a board after years of being away. Used to be a longboarder in college, am just now getting into street tricks and just bought my first proboard. Today, im in my garage trying to land my first ollie
I find it helps if you bend your knees and then straight them just as you begin to rotate, i mean like if you are about to jump (maybe hippie jump) but without your feet leaving the board. This way, you decrease your weight on the board (and the friction on wheels on ground). Does that make sense? ^^'
It makes sense because that's what you see on the video but he doesn't really mention it. Not hatin just statin. Powerslides are the same thing, you reduce your weight on the board and go for it.
Justin Lauria Thanks sooooo much for your sick tutorials I learnt frontside reverts today and i filmed myself learning them, shall I put it on youtube?
Hey, Justin. Thanks for the videos, man. I'm a 38 year old beginner, and I got soooooo close to hitting the frontside revert today. Determined to have it by the weekend.
This video helped me more than any other I've seen on reverts. After a lot of practice, I got fs reverts down and am working on bs. One thing I think is worth mentioning is I found it *much* easier to revert when I loosened up my trucks, but I think it's just as good to learn them with tighter trucks, as well. Anyway, thanks for actually breaking this down! Definitely subbed.
I'm confused. It seems to me that the back set of wheels rotate just as much doing backside as doing frontside reverts, just in the opposite direction.
I learned to do it today! And in the process of learning this trick, it dawned on me how to do a fs powerslide, its basically stopping in between attempting a fs revert. I’m so happy
This is really super helpful in helping me get frontside reverts down. Going to try backsides next. I've been skating again for about 4 months, I'm 38 and gradually building up the tricks. I've been getting a handful of lessons here in Japan but as I'm also not fluent in Japanese sometimes I don't understand all the instructions so this has helped me reinforce what I think I was being told. (It's a trip learning to skate and Japanese at the same time... small wonder my head hasn't exploded to be honest!)
of course it is lighten up on your board when you pivot but it's a matter of how much you want to abuse your wheels on that kind of surface and how likely you are to snag spots to get caught
i can do a three sixty front side revert but only while going fakie and it feels like only my front wheels are sliding. what is this called. is it a switch three sixty revert? I can not do a three sixty revert any other way and I can not 180 rever(regular revert) the regular way and only while going fakie and sliding in this manner.
I was just quickly checking to see if I had my terminology correct still for reverts. Been a long time since I've been skateboarding. I noticed your teaching is very good the way you explain everything. I already know how to do this stuff though and can still do it even though I haven't skated for a few years other than just ride the board around once in a blue moon to get to point A to point B. This is the most random run on comment I have ever made LOL
I've got quite soft wheels on my board because the asphalt/concrete here is extremely rough. They're really slippery and grippy, so I've been afraid of the board slipping out and me slamming before I can even brace for impact. So, it even possible to try to learn this on such ground? I've been just rolling around and using my board as transport for a few years already with no progression. There aren't many spots in my city where the ground is smooth, and the skatepark here (although really really nice) is full of scooter kids and extremely rude elitist skaters so that's not an option. Also, what's the best way to learn to ride fakie? Just go with it? Gonna buy a better board with harder wheels this spring when all the snow melts :p
Well it's really hard to Balance out the backside reverts in tar roads. It sucks to skate here in my place in a village in India because most of the surfaces are pretty rough or sandy
You can certainly do reverts on soft wheels, but if they're extremely soft, you may get a flat spot on them for a little bit afterwards. It's something that goes away after riding though so it's worth a test ;)
Am I right in thinking you pivot on the front truck and your back wheels do a 180? Kinda like a kick turn of the front truck . Cus I'm doing it and the front trucks keep trying to slide back whist the front slides forward. I hope that made scene 🤣
You helped me with my front sides and I can do them pretty easily but my backsides are struggling either the board comes from under me and I fall forward that n my hands or I just don’t do a full turn. Out of all the tries I got one really close but the board completely stopped and didn’t keep momentum
just a reminder none of you are alone ! God is with you all and he will never leave you . you are loved and accepted by him and that will never change . God bless you all
Cool tutorial but why your shoes mismatched. Ain’t judgin just wondering is it style, is one foot bigger than the other, did you lose the other shoe or what is goin on here
Haha don't worry, you could never offend me with a question like this! The reason my shoes don't appear to match is because on one of them (due to skateboarding) the shoelace broke into pieces, so I had to replace it, but all I had was a shoelace that was a different color.
was trying this trick but, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't make the full 180 degrees. the most i could do is 90 degrees. anything im doing wrong?
That's a fakie backside 180 ollie, which is most commonly referred to as a half cab (but the one I did in the video uses a revert to rotate the last 90 degrees, so it's a slightly tweaked version.
Your trucks can be tight or loose, but it does help if you have harder wheels. Softer wheels can be a little bit sticky. If you are still having trouble with good wheels, the solution is almost definitely to go faster and commit!
black sheep boi you just gotta practice man. All it is is just re learning how to skate but the wrong way round so keep at it and you’ll have it in no time

Exactly
i know it is kinda randomly asking but do anyone know of a good website to watch newly released movies online?
@Joshua Maxwell Flixportal
Beautiful language, beautiful park!
i do these a lot. they are fun for going fast down hills
hey man I love watching your tutorial your tutorial is the best I can say. thanks 👍
I wanna learn how to back and front side 180 so I think this will help
Nice job , useful info .
I am a beginner getting back into the sport I tried a shove It and some how almost dd a backside revert so I tried one and got It third try some how.
@PowerKillinSpre Thank you very much man! I put at least 1 out per week. I hope you get those kickflips.
Justin Lauria Thanks sooooo much for your sick tutorials I learnt frontside reverts today and i filmed myself learning them, shall I put it on youtube?
YanntheMan Yes! Upload the footage and post the link here so we can all see the process.
Justin Lauria Ok Thanks so much :) I will I shall just learn the backsides first ;)
Justin Lauria Just wondering when doing a shove-it revert do you have to do it on two wheels or can you do a powerslide revert?
+YanntheMan You can do it either way, but I think 4 wheels on the ground looks nicer.
thanks for good edvice
thanks
Does this „step between“ You did (Revert on one Truck) have a Name?
A question.do ur wheels ever leave the ground ever so slightly or do they simply maintain constant contact with the cement?
Awesome vid..big fan
They stay in contact with the ground for both directions. Thanks btw!
Does anyone know if it’s possible to do these on softer wheels, especially on asphalt
It'll give your wheels flat spots, not recommended
Never Stop Improving Thanks! I’m still a beginner and your videos have been awesome
Do wheels make a difference
in doing this trick, do the back wheels ever go off the floor? no correct?
correct 👍
My wheels are so soft I just take all my weight off the board and do more of a hippy 180 shove😂
Why I can do backside pretty well but I cant do frontside at all🥲
Surfers can do it easily
Oh for sure, they don't even consider it a trick haha it's just second nature
That's called a rewind
Best explainer ever..sorry braille
Totally agree with you!
Braille tutorials aren't really for serious people who are trying to learn. They are more for little kids
Aaron Kyro is a great skateboarder. But he’s not best at explaining
Fr tho
When they explained how to ollie they didn’t mention at all that you have to jump and do everything at the same time
I finally found out what it's called.
I need to learn this.
same

do u still skating

Same! Just learned FS + fakie-FS today after watching this tutorial.
This is actually a really descriptive explanation of how to do reverts. THANKS!
Sup justin! You got some sick in depth tutorials. Would you mind doing one on how to do a running start to get on the board??
Rat Crew That sounds like a great idea for a future video. Thank you so much for the feedback!

Is it just me, or does the board squeaking on the ground kind of sound like a low-pitched version of Hedwig's screech from Harry Potter
I ride a cruise skateboard with gel wheels. Can I still do this trick with my wheels?
Thank you
It's weird I've always found backside reverts easier
Ugh I feel the flat spots on my wheels already
You can make them go away if you cruise around for a bit!

I got too used to the practice motion n I can’t never revert without going on two wheels

Don't feel bad about that, it's an entirely different motion and feeling, but it will come if you keep practicing, I assure you.
I’m riding a 7.5 board but it’s easier to do the fs revert on it than an 8.5 board any advice on a 8.5 board for tricks
