I love how everyone starts singing the chorus with Joakim. It's like Joakim is just one soldier who's telling his story and the other soldiers join along in chorus. Very powerful.

Some historians states that each side aimed to the snow in order to start the avalanches in order to bury the enemy. Also... I like that they put Red Barons biplane, and then planes from WWII in the video to tell how the soldiers are keeping guard from WWI, during the second and still are.
Basically both Italians and Austrians had the idea to start an avalanche by bombarding weakened peaks. It worked; the only issue was both sides had the idea, so both sides got buried. So much ice and snow fell that the bodies are still buried there to this day. Over 105 years later, thousands of soldiers are still buried on that mountain. This song helps us think of those unknown soldiers who never got to return home. From the Roman Ninth Legion that disappeared in Britain in AD 120, to soldiers that are still buried in mud and snow from the trenches of WWI. Imagine how devastated your families would be if they received news that the military had no idea where you were or what happened to you, that you just disappeared.
The 80s synth is most likely inspired by Italodisco, a genre popular in italy and europe during the 80s that almost always used the sort of synth arpeggio that you hear in the song. Really nice little touch to give it an italian feel. Search for pretty much any italodisco song and you'll hear the same kinda synth sounds as in this song!

Joakim Broden and Sabaton don't need jackets for the winter settings and the Alps they're Swedish Pagans kept warm and fuel by mead, ambrosia, and Sabatonium the strongest element known to mankind for it's Unbreakable. P.S " I've seen it all but none will hear my story " is one of the greatest line I've ever heard there's so much depth to it and tragic reminder about those who never came home.
On December 13th, 1916 at 5 AM, known as White Friday, a series of avalanches hit both Austro Hungarian and Italian barracks and basically buried them with everyone inside. People reported afterwards that both Austro Hungarian and Italian troops fired artillery at the loose snow on the mountains to cause avalanches on each other's side. The total death toll is unknown, but approximately 2000 soldiers died and a dozen civilians. Many of the bodies were never found. Some are being found nowadays with the ice on the mountains melting more and more due to climate change.
Soldier of heaven is about the “white Friday” avalanches but more specifically it’s about a soldier who was killed but is stuck up there on the alps touching the heavens, still keeping guard all this time after. You can see this in the lyrics “I have seen it all but none will hear my story” and also in the video when you see the soldier’s ghost looking down at the battle or seeing WW1 era Biplanes of his time change into WW2 era Monoplanes. One of the most terrifying things about the battles on the alps is that there are still bodies up there perfectly preserved due to the temperature almost like they are stuck up there, bound to the mountain.
I think they show WWII fighters to show 25-30 years later he’s still on post witnessing the next war. It illustrates the time spent on the mountain to this day, because they don’t make simple mistakes. Or it looked cool pulling up behind Hannes. Either way, I’m sold.
Both of my Grandfathers served in WWII. It blows my mind that 2 men who were directly responsible for me being here were in the same war in opposite parts of the world (one in the Paffic, one in the Mediterranean). My Dad served in Vietnam.

It was an accident. I know the difference between Austria and Australia. And I like to think I made the views based off my commentary, otherwise why would people click on a reaction video, if not to hear what somebody thought about it. Just listened to the song Instead? I have music theory training so terms like modulation and other similar words are used a lot in my reactions. I I like to think my edge over other reactors is that i actually understand music from a technical point, instead of just saying “that’s tight” and then calling it a reaction.

They were Austrians, not Australians :)
Austria- Hungarian and some others besides them
Did you actually say :"australian/italian soldiers" yes you did. (checked it 5 times) Austria is country in Europe like next to germany, slovakia, Czech, humgary etc. but not Aussies...they would be like...ok dude is from usa so don't expect too much of him 😆
I've watched so many reactions of the song and you are the only 1 who uses word modulation which is ofc right term. Congraz you went from bottom to top in 10 seconds...soothing voice but blabla. Congratulations...you make views with music that some other ppl has created...must be great. Anyways i think i'll go with bill wurtz...at least he did that shit.
@@whatitdodave All cool, it was just funny. Austria and australia is pronounced totally different in london. no biggie ;)
