That being said, both of my almost adult children are both autistic ,adhd, and have other complex special needs and if there is an issue while out and about we do our best to take them away from it or out of the shop completely. It shouldn't be other people's responsibility to accommodate my children if they also have issues . My 17 year old has a fear of dogs, so we tend to warn him if a dogvis walking towards us so he can stand be one of us for " protection " while our 16 year old loves all animals and likes to pet them when allowed , they both also understand the concept of working/ medical alert dogs as we have a family member with a guide dog .
also the fact that you can have some things at birth ive had a non-curable diease since the day i was born, and unless i told you, you wouldn't know and it doesnt affect me in any "seeable" way
Fifth story: The husband showed abuser behavior there. He lied to both OP and his wife to make his wife break her friendship with OP. That's how it usually begins, first isolate the abused from friends, then from family, then get rid of all the abused's social media or ways to communicate with the outside world so the only thing they know and think is normal is the abuse and won't try to escape. I say OP's friend needs to tread with caution and at the next sign of him trying to break another relation she has run as fast as possible before he can tie his chain on her.

Sadly if the kid does turn out to be queer she will most likely try to send him to 'conversion therapy' to torture the queer away. I hate people like this Karen. The costume party one, HE ONLY KNEW IT WAS A COSTUME PARTY. It was up to the groom AND bride of the SURPRISE wedding to have informed him it was actually a wedding, too, the moment he showed up in his Corpse Bride costume. If either had done that right away (and we know why the groom didn't), then he could've gone and changed in time. NTA, at all, whatsoever, and I hope the real bride dumps the very real jerk of a groom.
Also, OP asked if the costume party had a theme, meaning to check if there were any restrictions or requirements and was given the okay to come as whatever. If you're that sensitive to someone wearing a bridal dress on your "surprise" wedding, then you should have told them not to dress as anything wedding related.
As soon as the bride jumped OP about their outfit, I thought right away that the groom lied to the bride about OP asking should they change, and sure enough, later in the story he admitted to lying about it. I however figured he just did it so bride wouldn't be mad at him, didn't guess that he had never liked OP.
I will say that there are two points against OP. One, he didn’t know it was a wedding, but he _did_ know that it was an engagement party. Still a bit of a faux pas to wear a wedding dress, although he owned up to that. Two, in his situation, he really should have thought to check with his friend directly, as she’s the one who would most likely feel upset by the dress. Neither are bad enough to say YTA, but he did make mistakes.

I'm gonna train a dog for my brother Hes mid 20s and type 1. He looks slightly chubby but not noticable with the clothes he wears so otherwise he looks like a standard working class man not someone with a disability although if he's wearing a tshirt you can see his sensor. (Now I see those sensors everywhere). But god I know he hates confrontation and hates people, those are the bigger reasons Imma get him a dog he needs something there for him.

Yeah... I just generally assume that anybody I interact with "in the wild" has their own stuff going on and it's not my place to police them or their behavior. Exactly! Met a family at my former job (retail) several years ago. The little girl (age 7) had a stroke a few months earlier, unfortunately because of the negligence of someone in the health field. The family had asked a healthcare professional (not a doctor) if a child could take Robitussin and Tylenol at the same time. They were told that it should be fine. Well, it turned out that, no, it wasn’t. She had to relearn everything. I think she’s a teen, now. Not sure how she is.
I'm certainly old enough to have a disability, and I do - a few years ago, I herniated 3 discs in my back, which pinched a nerve, resulting in bilateral leg weakness. That being said, I bought my darling husband a t-shirt that says "SERVICE HUMAN. DO NOT PET", which has garnered huge laughs from both disabled and able folks alike. THAT being said, woe betide anyone who says I'm not disabled, as they may or may not end up disabled themselves.

I'm on the autism spectrum myself, so I can sympathize with the young girl being scared by the sight of a large dog; at that age, any form of discomfort can feel like the biggest problem ever (I myself was disgusted by the scent of coffee to the point where I had to hold my nose while going down the coffee aisle with Mom). That being said, there were far better ways for that mother to handle the situation, namely by focusing on the girl (i.e. comforting her) and *not* the dog or its owner and suggesting that *they* were the problem. The world's full of big dogs, ladies, so you better get used to it quickly. Also, regarding the mother who went off on the smoker, if you need to pay for prayer circles (since that's how she made it sound), you're not part of a church, you're part of a cult.
Yeah. If her daughter is actually on the spectrum I pity her. She will grow up thinking her mom can save her from anything, not knowing how to face the world on her own. I am not saying do not help your child at all, but help them understand. There will be discomforts and triggers. And you need to find a way to calm down.
Story 2 - I love this story! Not only did Karen’s Free babysitter plan backfire on her but the staff member gave her daughter a fun time. At least her daughter was not an Entitled Brat like her mother.

Story 5: When your partner is being manipulative about who you get to be friends with, that is a full bouquet of red flags. Like, Husband and OP don't have to get along, OP's friend is allowed to maintain her respective relationships with both of them. Her husband didn't even give her the ultimatum to choose, just straight up went behind her back. Now, she was smart and decided she should get to the bottom of things rather than just stay angry and end the friendship. So I hope she also smart enough to really evaluate her marriage, and let her husband know that he can either start making an effort or it's over.

Yeah. Especially considering OP had a medical condition with their heart. The Karen could have caused stress making it worse, or even lethal. But they just give her a warning? What happens next time she ends up giving someone a heart attack, or tries to stop their dog from helping them when a serious medical emergency is happening?
Story 1: Classic Karen Double Standard. "My kid can be 'disabled', but NO OTHER YOUNG PEOPLE!!" Story 5: That woman is going to need to rethink her marriage. Her husband is going to certainly push away all the rest of her friends and family HE doesn't like. This is just the first step in him doing so.
As someone with autism it’s completely unreasonable to demand that someone else with the service animal leave because you’re afraid of the animal just go somewhere else if the dog bothers you. Also, you think the mother of the autistic child would know that disability doesn’t discriminate based on age and that some disabilities are things people are born with, and are invisible, like autism or a heart condition.
That costume party turned wedding was a complete fiasco. The first lie was the one told by the bride, who then blew up causing a complete scene. OP is not the one at fault.
I totally vote the husband the a hole in the last story. Especially as some of the most popular costumes are zombie bride, Frankensteins bride, and of course corpse bride op is not the a hole.
Story 5: Sometimes, as an adult, it can be necessary to take the hit to your pride and ego to preserve the peace (it varies by situation, of course). Apologizing to his friend for hurting her feelings on her wedding day isn't necessarily the same as accepting blame and fault for the situation. The husband is obviously still the asshole here, but showing his friend that he's willing to meet her halfway over a situation like that likely went a long way towards mending their friendship.

At the age of 5 I was told that my hips would be a problem in the future. 15 years later, I’m 20 years old using a cane because of the very same problem I was told about 15 years prior but gain CFS (Chronic fatigue syndrome) which has permanently changed my sleep schedule and causes me to have pains in my muscles/joints (amongst other things) so No Karen no one is “too young” to be disabled when your child is DISABLED

If Karen's autistic kid is afraid of dogs, then it is Karens job to take her kid and leave the area where the dog is. The world is not required to hide all dogs so Karen and her kid can go everywhere without worry that mini Karen will have a tantrum.

My BIL's service dog is a great dane. She alerts him when he's about to have a seizure, and helps get him into a safe position. A big dog is definitely an asset in situations like that. Side note- I've always been nervous around dogs. Apparently, a big dog jumped on me when I was a toddler, and that's when it started. I've found that being around my BIL and his service dog has actually helped me get past my fear of dogs. I still don't love them, but I find them much easier to be around. Sadly, BIL's service dog is getting old, and I suspect she won't be around much longer. I'm going to miss her when she's gone.
Story 5: OP is not the A-Hole as he was not aware it was a wedding until the he was already at the party. He even ask the groom if he should go home and change which the groom said his costume is fine. The real A-Hole is OP's friend's now husband for lying to her. now wife.

I have several friends who have had cystic acne and rosacia and it's a life long battle for them. Some times it can be controlled by diet as my son had horrible acne on his back and forehead. He cut a bunch of food out and it cleared up and he slowly added foods back in -when it break oyt he fifured which foods to avoid. Hes in his 30s now and he kinda outgrew most of it but occasionally gets flair ups where he just goes back to really watching his diet. But I've witness first hand how heart breaking these conditions are and just want to hug everyone. ❤
Fluff don't try to make sense of it. I've gotten it since I was 17 when my lyme disease triggered chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. That was more then two decades ago.
I'm glad that the epilogue of the last story has the bride getting an annulment and leaving him. Apparently, the bride heard from 3 friends that confirmed OP's side and had an argument with the husband. The final straw was an argument at a restaurant where the husband told the bride to walk home that night. She ended it then and has stayed with a friend for the time being. The husband has been blaming OP and friends, meanwhile OP and friends all have him blocked. Now she is enjoying single life for the first time. Smoking Karen: Hell, SHE's smoking around her kid--probably constantly at home! She came in there looking for a complaint to try to make money. Watch out, though--people like that very often cannot handle defeat and will try to get back at you--maybe even violently.

Last Story: That marriage is over. OP was invited to a costume party and when asked if there was a theme or anything of note was told no. I'm a 35yoF who's been disabled 2 months before i turned 21. I now have a giant boerboel, named Bjorn Ironside (who's in fact the goodest boy!). On the occasion i see people afraid of him, mostly black people(not that color ever matters) and small kids, i offer a smile and will MOVE AWAY FROM THEM! We try to respect everyone and the kids enjoy learning that my cute giant pupper has a job! He's 2 years old and probably close to 150 pounds, bigger then most cane corsos, German shepherds, and closer to great Danes.
I used to get the "too young to be disabled" rant from people all the time. I'm approaching my 50's now so it doesn't happen nearly as often anymore. People have these rose-colored glasses on when it comes to illness and disabilities. It distressingly common for a lot of people to think that young people just don't get sick that bad etc. When i was in my early 20's, i had my cane kicked out from under me by one of these people who insisted that I didn't need it and I was faking as i was far too young to need a cane. It happened again when I was in my 30's. I've also been yelled at for using a mobility scooter, for parking in handicap with my placard, etc. Had one guy roll up on me in his wheelchair screaming that I took the last handicap spot and I clearly didn't need it as I was hobbling slowly with my cane into the store. He had had to pull down to the very end of the parking lot where there were empty spaces to have room to unload is wheelchair. My friend, who as with me at the time, was sick of it. This kind of thing had happened several times when she was with me. She turned and pointed out that i had a hard time walking while he had wheels to ride. Now...I don't like that she said that because wheelchairs need space to load and unload, but also he didn't have to come at me like that. Those spaces are for ANYONE who is disabled, not just wheelchair users. These days I just don't leave the house any more. Dealing with constant pain is enough to deal with without having to defend myself from every busybody who thinks they can tell me what I do or do not have the right to.

@@Tobertobee As hard as it is, try to remember that what people are shouting at you speaks volumes about THEM, not you. Of course that's easier said than done, especially in the moment. I'm afraid I never fully got a handle on it, though it did make it easier to feel better faster after the interaction as I got older. Good luck! ❤
I'm 26, have had Fibromyalgia diagnosed since I was 20, and I'm glad I haven't been ranted at like that. When I needed a cane I did have an older woman (probably 50s or 60s) ask me why I had one, but she didn't do so maliciously. She sounded concerned, and gave me sympathy when I told her; saying she had friends with my condition and has heard how bad it can be.
A 100 bucks for a whole day doing everything and eating everything is not that bad really. When we have the fair in town it's so expensive for each ride. Though at least you do not have the lines like in an amusement park.
That last one the husband was the a-hole and he knew what he was doing in the first place. His jealousy got the best of him and now he’s gonna end up divorced. And that was not a wedding it was a costume party so the wife had no reason to be thoroughly angry over it.

Story 1: Maybe Karen should take her own advice and stay home, keeping her attitude where it belongs. Story 2: You don’t get special treatment just because you gave birth. Were it up to me, Karen would have gotten a written warning for being late and a (unofficial) verbal warning for demanding special treatment on the grounds of being a mother.
I hope the karen mom of Story 2 didn't take it out on her kid. It sounds like she already doesn't want to deal with her - and honestly, what she said about her kid not being her problem but the other coworkers' makes me suspicious of how neglectful she is outside of work, too. People who are unafraid to complain about how "hard it is" being a mom in public (and in front of her kid) like that are definitely going to go home and tell their kid how much work they are, how she ruined her day's pay, and how she shouldn't have been so selfish at the fair. I'm seriously hoping that kid didn't get her wonderful memory ruined by her mom's foul mood.
Service dog vs autistic child story: I do feel sorry for the child, having a mother like that. I suspect the mother doesn't like dogs and this translates to the kid being terrified of them. But no one is too young to have a disability and many are, as OP said, invisible. Given a part of OP's dog's training is deep pressure therapy, having such a large dog as a Cane Corso is a good thing. She is a good girl! I wonder how many other places Karen has been banned from over the years? Given how many small towns I've been thru where the local Walmart is the only big store around for miles (no Targets, Kohls, J.C, Penny's and so on) being banned from one is a big deal. Carnival story: In all honesty I would have sent Karen home the moment she showed up with her kid. I suspect she really didn't do much to earn her pay, so it wouldn't have been a loss. But it did serve to provide a lesson, though one I doubt she learned. Acne story: Great job little old lady telling off Karen!!! And to you as well, OP, for not allowing Karen to belittle you. If Karen doesn't like what she sees, she doesn't have to look, let alone comment on it to anyone, including OP. Smoking area story: What a pain! It reminds me of a story a friend told me when I was still driving semis. This was long enough ago many places still allowed smoking in designated smoking areas, even indoors. My friend was an owner operator and a smoker. He went into a big truck stop, bought about 120+ gallons of diesel fuel, parked his truck and went inside to eat. He went into the restaurant and sat in the smoking area (which was in the back of the restaurant (important), ordered and then ate his meal when it came out. While he was eating an older couple came into the smoking area, sat down and ordered coffee, ONLY coffee. Well, after the driver finished eating, he lit up a cigar. The older couple demanded he put it out, the driver refused. They called the manager demanding the driver put out his cigar. Remember, he's IN THE DESIGNATED SMOKING AREA. The driver told the manager (for the truck stop, not just the restaurant) that he had just bought over 120 gallons of fuel, ordered a big steak dinner, he was in the smoking area and when he finished his smoke and coffee, had plans to go into the truck stop store and buy around $50 worth of stuff. He then pointed out that the couple had walked thru the nearly empty non-smoking and much larger part of the restaurant to get to the smoking area of the restaurant and only ordered coffee. He then asked the manager who his more valuable customer was. The manager told the couple to either stop bothering the trucker and to move to the non-smoking area or to leave the premises. Some people. Wedding story: OP, you did the responsible thing and asked the groom if you should change. He said no. I might have done so anyway, just to be safe, but you were given an okay. THEN HE LIED TO HIS NEW WIFE that he didn't say you were okay as is and he's upset at you now. Hopefully, they will both come to their senses over time. But given they didn't tell anyone, it's a surprise many people didn't come in white. They have no reason to be upset as they wanted a surprise wedding. UPDATE: What a hateful way to start a marriage! It is possible for men and women to just be friends with no romantic intent. One of mine happens to be an ex-girlfriend. She, my wife and I are still good friends after my wife's and I's 49 years of marriage. And no, we were never intimate beyond some kissing.
Gym story: If something like that ever happens again tell them that you're not going to make your skin condition worse just to satisfy your sensibilities. Covering body acne during exercise can make the acne spread under and along the line of the garment, depending on the fabric, how tight/loose it is, how long you work out for, etc. I'm not gonna make myself miserable with physical alterations because you're not comfortable seeing my condition. How about you keep your eyes on your own work and leave me to my sets.

After hearing that the husband chose the wedding to get rid of OP, that tells me right then he not only lied to his wife about giving the O.K. on the Corpse Bride costume, but he knew it would upset the bride and used that to try and separate them. I'll be surprised if that wedding lasts very long.
I had the back acne when I was a teen. I was so self conscious that I would wear a shirt in the pool. Then I got a girlfriend who liked popping zits. for those with acne, try this tip. get a small bottle, then 1/3 white vinegar (the cheaper the better) and 2/3 water. apply to effected areas when you enter the shower, then wash normally (with a moisurizer bar of soap) then rinse thoroughly. the acid from the vinegar will dig out the dirt from the pores.

Autism is more of a neurological disability vs a physical or health related like the heart. That daughter is never gonna learn with Karen as her mom and I say that as an Autistic woman. The daughter eventually needs to learn coping mechanism and if needed therapy.

I've known several people with autistic children and fear of dogs seems to be a common thread. I have had several breeds and rhe larger dogs like labradors etc seem to cause the most fear,we have had several Shelties ( they look like small versions of Lassie) that didn't cause the kids to be absolutely terrified in fact after an hour or so the kids were fine with the dogs to where they would pet the dog almost constantly and would take treats from the kids as well.
First story: People's needs(not wants!) sometimes clash. Being autistic or allergic or something that means not being able to be around dogs, has to suck for people considering there are service dogs, who are needed to be around. In the end people need to communicate as in: "could you go this way and I go that so that we both can shop/do whatever" But considering that "service dog" is a highly misused label conflicts like this will occur. THAT SAID.... The mother in the story is an isiot, she seeks confrontation because her mind can not fathom someone youn having a disability, while claiming, that her young child has a disability. That is just bonkers.

Sounds like mom was afraid not the kid. My son has autism and we taught him to learn how to be ok in public with exposure and explanations. Time and consistency is key for animals and kids. This woman is making things worse for the kid and dog too
Story 5 is NTA in any way , shape, or form. The couple decided to start a costume party and change it to a wedding, secretly, and there's is no problem at all with a corpse bride costume for a costume party, even if it is celebrating an engagement. It's pretty funny actually. I'd personally be making sure they showed up in lots of wedding photos.
Whether there's a dedicated smoking area or not doesn't change the incredible level of entitlement it takes to smoke INDOORS, subjecting staff and othet patrons to second-hand smoke. Most people who work at restaurants can't afford to just quit their jobs because you're turning their worksite into a health hazard, but that doesn't mean they deserve to develop lung cancer.

OMG Story 5- I hate surprise weddings... My husband had an Aunt who did that, disguised it as a family reunion... We got wind of it and my Husband, our Family and My Sister in Law didn't show up... There is so much crap that can go wrong especially in this costume party theme... I mean there are a lot of wedding themed costumes that are cute and totally appropriate for the whole come as what ever there is no theme costume party. But I know where this is going... That being said, both of my almost adult children are both autistic ,adhd, and have other complex special needs and if there is an issue while out and about we do our best to take them away from it or out of the shop completely. My 17 year old has a fear of dogs, so we tend to warn him if a dogvis walking towards us so he can stand be one of us for " protection " while our 16 year old loves all animals and likes to pet them when allowed , they both also understand the concept of working/ medical alert dogs as we have a family member with a guide dog .

Fifth story: The husband showed abuser behavior there. He lied to both OP and his wife to make his wife break her friendship with OP. That's how it usually begins, first isolate the abused from friends, then from family, then get rid of all the abused's social media or ways to communicate with the outside world so the only thing they know and think is normal is the abuse and won't try to escape. I say OP's friend needs to tread with caution and at the next sign of him trying to break another relation she has run as fast as possible before he can tie his chain on her.
In an update the friend and her husband filed for divorce. So good on her to escape him.

The costume party one, HE ONLY KNEW IT WAS A COSTUME PARTY. It was up to the groom AND bride of the SURPRISE wedding to have informed him it was actually a wedding, too, the moment he showed up in his Corpse Bride costume. If either had done that right away (and we know why the groom didn't), then he could've gone and changed in time. NTA, at all, whatsoever, and I hope the real bride dumps the very real jerk of a groom.
Also, OP asked if the costume party had a theme, meaning to check if there were any restrictions or requirements and was given the okay to come as whatever. If you're that sensitive to someone wearing a bridal dress on your "surprise" wedding, then you should have told them not to dress as anything wedding related.
As soon as the bride jumped OP about their outfit, I thought right away that the groom lied to the bride about OP asking should they change, and sure enough, later in the story he admitted to lying about it. I however figured he just did it so bride wouldn't be mad at him, didn't guess that he had never liked OP.

I will say that there are two points against OP. One, he didn’t know it was a wedding, but he _did_ know that it was an engagement party. Still a bit of a faux pas to wear a wedding dress, although he owned up to that. Two, in his situation, he really should have thought to check with his friend directly, as she’s the one who would most likely feel upset by the dress. Neither are bad enough to say YTA, but he did make mistakes.

Hes mid 20s and type 1. He looks slightly chubby but not noticable with the clothes he wears so otherwise he looks like a standard working class man not someone with a disability although if he's wearing a tshirt you can see his sensor. (Now I see those sensors everywhere).
But god I know he hates confrontation and hates people, those are the bigger reasons Imma get him a dog he needs something there for him.

Exactly! Met a family at my former job (retail) several years ago. The little girl (age 7) had a stroke a few months earlier, unfortunately because of the negligence of someone in the health field. The family had asked a healthcare professional (not a doctor) if a child could take Robitussin and Tylenol at the same time. They were told that it should be fine. Well, it turned out that, no, it wasn’t. She had to relearn everything. I think she’s a teen, now. Not sure how she is.
Agree it can happen to anyone at any age. By her own logic her kid shouldn't be anywhere either because of autism. 🤷♂️
I'm certainly old enough to have a disability, and I do - a few years ago, I herniated 3 discs in my back, which pinched a nerve, resulting in bilateral leg weakness.
That being said, I bought my darling husband a t-shirt that says "SERVICE HUMAN. DO NOT PET", which has garnered huge laughs from both disabled and able folks alike.
THAT being said, woe betide anyone who says I'm not disabled, as they may or may not end up disabled themselves.

I'm on the autism spectrum myself, so I can sympathize with the young girl being scared by the sight of a large dog; at that age, any form of discomfort can feel like the biggest problem ever (I myself was disgusted by the scent of coffee to the point where I had to hold my nose while going down the coffee aisle with Mom). That being said, there were far better ways for that mother to handle the situation, namely by focusing on the girl (i.e. comforting her) and *not* the dog or its owner and suggesting that *they* were the problem. The world's full of big dogs, ladies, so you better get used to it quickly.
Also, regarding the mother who went off on the smoker, if you need to pay for prayer circles (since that's how she made it sound), you're not part of a church, you're part of a cult.
Yeah. If her daughter is actually on the spectrum I pity her. She will grow up thinking her mom can save her from anything, not knowing how to face the world on her own. I am not saying do not help your child at all, but help them understand. There will be discomforts and triggers. And you need to find a way to calm down.

Story 2 - I love this story! Not only did Karen’s Free babysitter plan backfire on her but the staff member gave her daughter a fun time. At least her daughter was not an Entitled Brat like her mother.

Story 5: When your partner is being manipulative about who you get to be friends with, that is a full bouquet of red flags. Like, Husband and OP don't have to get along, OP's friend is allowed to maintain her respective relationships with both of them. Her husband didn't even give her the ultimatum to choose, just straight up went behind her back. Now, she was smart and decided she should get to the bottom of things rather than just stay angry and end the friendship. So I hope she also smart enough to really evaluate her marriage, and let her husband know that he can either start making an effort or it's over.

As someone with autism it’s completely unreasonable to demand that someone else with the service animal leave because you’re afraid of the animal just go somewhere else if the dog bothers you. Also, you think the mother of the autistic child would know that disability doesn’t discriminate based on age and that some disabilities are things people are born with, and are invisible, like autism or a heart condition.

Story 5: Sometimes, as an adult, it can be necessary to take the hit to your pride and ego to preserve the peace (it varies by situation, of course). Apologizing to his friend for hurting her feelings on her wedding day isn't necessarily the same as accepting blame and fault for the situation. The husband is obviously still the asshole here, but showing his friend that he's willing to meet her halfway over a situation like that likely went a long way towards mending their friendship.

At the age of 5 I was told that my hips would be a problem in the future. 15 years later, I’m 20 years old using a cane because of the very same problem I was told about 15 years prior but gain CFS (Chronic fatigue syndrome) which has permanently changed my sleep schedule and causes me to have pains in my muscles/joints (amongst other things) so No Karen no one is “too young” to be disabled when your child is DISABLED

My BIL's service dog is a great dane. She alerts him when he's about to have a seizure, and helps get him into a safe position. A big dog is definitely an asset in situations like that.
Side note- I've always been nervous around dogs. Apparently, a big dog jumped on me when I was a toddler, and that's when it started. I've found that being around my BIL and his service dog has actually helped me get past my fear of dogs. I still don't love them, but I find them much easier to be around. Sadly, BIL's service dog is getting old, and I suspect she won't be around much longer. I'm going to miss her when she's gone.
Story 5: OP is not the A-Hole as he was not aware it was a wedding until the he was already at the party. He even ask the groom if he should go home and change which the groom said his costume is fine. The real A-Hole is OP's friend's now husband for lying to her. now wife.
I agree with Dark fluff on the wedding one. Common sense should not be a factor when the friend was told it was a costume party. And shame on the husband for saying it was okay and then lying to his wife.
A friend of mine had acne rosacea severely on his back. He looked like he’d been scourged with a cat of nine tails.
I have several friends who have had cystic acne and rosacia and it's a life long battle for them.
Some times it can be controlled by diet as my son had horrible acne on his back and forehead. He cut a bunch of food out and it cleared up and he slowly added foods back in -when it break oyt he fifured which foods to avoid.
Hes in his 30s now and he kinda outgrew most of it but occasionally gets flair ups where he just goes back to really watching his diet.
But I've witness first hand how heart breaking these conditions are and just want to hug everyone.

I'm glad that the epilogue of the last story has the bride getting an annulment and leaving him. Apparently, the bride heard from 3 friends that confirmed OP's side and had an argument with the husband. The final straw was an argument at a restaurant where the husband told the bride to walk home that night. She ended it then and has stayed with a friend for the time being. The husband has been blaming OP and friends, meanwhile OP and friends all have him blocked. Now she is enjoying single life for the first time.

Last Story: That marriage is over. OP was invited to a costume party and when asked if there was a theme or anything of note was told no. Friend could have easily said to avoid anything bridal as it's serving as an engagement party and could have avoided the entire faux pas from the surprise wedding. OP had witnesses backing up him asking if he should go change before things started so (hopefully ex-)Hubby should have known the truth would have come out one way or another. He lied to her about her friend and had started a fight just to get rid of OP. That's controlling AH behavior and if she's smart then she'll divorce him.
Last story - Wow, what a way to start a marriage - by lying and driving a wedge between your bride and her friend. All kinds of toxic red flag there - if I were the friend, I'd be seriously considering an annulment.

I'm a 35yoF who's been disabled 2 months before i turned 21. I now have a giant boerboel, named Bjorn Ironside (who's in fact the goodest boy!). On the occasion i see people afraid of him, mostly black people(not that color ever matters) and small kids, i offer a smile and will MOVE AWAY FROM THEM! We try to respect everyone and the kids enjoy learning that my cute giant pupper has a job! He's 2 years old and probably close to 150 pounds, bigger then most cane corsos, German shepherds, and closer to great Danes.
I used to get the "too young to be disabled" rant from people all the time. I'm approaching my 50's now so it doesn't happen nearly as often anymore. People have these rose-colored glasses on when it comes to illness and disabilities. It distressingly common for a lot of people to think that young people just don't get sick that bad etc.
When i was in my early 20's, i had my cane kicked out from under me by one of these people who insisted that I didn't need it and I was faking as i was far too young to need a cane. It happened again when I was in my 30's. I've also been yelled at for using a mobility scooter, for parking in handicap with my placard, etc. Had one guy roll up on me in his wheelchair screaming that I took the last handicap spot and I clearly didn't need it as I was hobbling slowly with my cane into the store. He had had to pull down to the very end of the parking lot where there were empty spaces to have room to unload is wheelchair. My friend, who as with me at the time, was sick of it. This kind of thing had happened several times when she was with me. She turned and pointed out that i had a hard time walking while he had wheels to ride. Now...I don't like that she said that because wheelchairs need space to load and unload, but also he didn't have to come at me like that. Those spaces are for ANYONE who is disabled, not just wheelchair users.
These days I just don't leave the house any more. Dealing with constant pain is enough to deal with without having to defend myself from every busybody who thinks they can tell me what I do or do not have the right to.
I understand that pain, im currently in my 20s, using a cane and verbally put down for my age and disability status, so you have any advice with being young and disabled?
@@Tobertobee As hard as it is, try to remember that what people are shouting at you speaks volumes about THEM, not you. Of course that's easier said than done, especially in the moment. I'm afraid I never fully got a handle on it, though it did make it easier to feel better faster after the interaction as I got older.

I'm 26, have had Fibromyalgia diagnosed since I was 20, and I'm glad I haven't been ranted at like that.
When I needed a cane I did have an older woman (probably 50s or 60s) ask me why I had one, but she didn't do so maliciously. She sounded concerned, and gave me sympathy when I told her; saying she had friends with my condition and has heard how bad it can be.
A 100 bucks for a whole day doing everything and eating everything is not that bad really. When we have the fair in town it's so expensive for each ride. Though at least you do not have the lines like in an amusement park.
That last one the husband was the a-hole and he knew what he was doing in the first place. His jealousy got the best of him and now he’s gonna end up divorced. And that was not a wedding it was a costume party so the wife had no reason to be thoroughly angry over it.

I hope the karen mom of Story 2 didn't take it out on her kid. It sounds like she already doesn't want to deal with her - and honestly, what she said about her kid not being her problem but the other coworkers' makes me suspicious of how neglectful she is outside of work, too. People who are unafraid to complain about how "hard it is" being a mom in public (and in front of her kid) like that are definitely going to go home and tell their kid how much work they are, how she ruined her day's pay, and how she shouldn't have been so selfish at the fair. I'm seriously hoping that kid didn't get her wonderful memory ruined by her mom's foul mood.

Service dog vs autistic child story: I do feel sorry for the child, having a mother like that. I suspect the mother doesn't like dogs and this translates to the kid being terrified of them. But no one is too young to have a disability and many are, as OP said, invisible. Given a part of OP's dog's training is deep pressure therapy, having such a large dog as a Cane Corso is a good thing. She is a good girl! I wonder how many other places Karen has been banned from over the years? Given how many small towns I've been thru where the local Walmart is the only big store around for miles (no Targets, Kohls, J.C, Penny's and so on) being banned from one is a big deal.
Carnival story: In all honesty I would have sent Karen home the moment she showed up with her kid. I suspect she really didn't do much to earn her pay, so it wouldn't have been a loss. But it did serve to provide a lesson, though one I doubt she learned.
Acne story: Great job little old lady telling off Karen!!! And to you as well, OP, for not allowing Karen to belittle you. If Karen doesn't like what she sees, she doesn't have to look, let alone comment on it to anyone, including OP.
Smoking area story: What a pain! It reminds me of a story a friend told me when I was still driving semis. This was long enough ago many places still allowed smoking in designated smoking areas, even indoors. My friend was an owner operator and a smoker. He went into a big truck stop, bought about 120+ gallons of diesel fuel, parked his truck and went inside to eat. He went into the restaurant and sat in the smoking area (which was in the back of the restaurant (important), ordered and then ate his meal when it came out. While he was eating an older couple came into the smoking area, sat down and ordered coffee, ONLY coffee. Well, after the driver finished eating, he lit up a cigar. The older couple demanded he put it out, the driver refused. They called the manager demanding the driver put out his cigar. Remember, he's IN THE DESIGNATED SMOKING AREA. The driver told the manager (for the truck stop, not just the restaurant) that he had just bought over 120 gallons of fuel, ordered a big steak dinner, he was in the smoking area and when he finished his smoke and coffee, had plans to go into the truck stop store and buy around $50 worth of stuff. He then pointed out that the couple had walked thru the nearly empty non-smoking and much larger part of the restaurant to get to the smoking area of the restaurant and only ordered coffee. He then asked the manager who his more valuable customer was. The manager told the couple to either stop bothering the trucker and to move to the non-smoking area or to leave the premises. Some people.
Wedding story: OP, you did the responsible thing and asked the groom if you should change. He said no. I might have done so anyway, just to be safe, but you were given an okay. THEN HE LIED TO HIS NEW WIFE that he didn't say you were okay as is and he's upset at you now. Hopefully, they will both come to their senses over time. But given they didn't tell anyone, it's a surprise many people didn't come in white. They have no reason to be upset as they wanted a surprise wedding.
UPDATE: What a hateful way to start a marriage! It is possible for men and women to just be friends with no romantic intent. One of mine happens to be an ex-girlfriend. She, my wife and I are still good friends after my wife's and I's 49 years of marriage. And no, we were never intimate beyond some kissing.
Gym story: If something like that ever happens again tell them that you're not going to make your skin condition worse just to satisfy your sensibilities. Covering body acne during exercise can make the acne spread under and along the line of the garment, depending on the fabric, how tight/loose it is, how long you work out for, etc. I'm not gonna make myself miserable with physical alterations because you're not comfortable seeing my condition. How about you keep your eyes on your own work and leave me to my sets.

I had heard story 5 on another channel, but I hadn't heard the update. After hearing that the husband chose the wedding to get rid of OP, that tells me right then he not only lied to his wife about giving the O.K. on the Corpse Bride costume, but he knew it would upset the bride and used that to try and separate them. I'll be surprised if that wedding lasts very long.

I had the back acne when I was a teen. I was so self conscious that I would wear a shirt in the pool. Then I got a girlfriend who liked popping zits. She would go to work on my back every time before and after passionately hugging. That pretty much got me over it, and eventually it cleared up. ❤ people that help you accept your flaws. ❤

for those with acne, try this tip. get a small bottle, then 1/3 white vinegar (the cheaper the better) and 2/3 water. apply to effected areas when you enter the shower, then wash normally (with a moisurizer bar of soap) then rinse thoroughly. the acid from the vinegar will dig out the dirt from the pores.
Story 2: When the Karen said she wasn’t paying for it I wish I was there to laugh and say: “That’s true, you aren’t paying for it, it’s just coming out of salary instead.”
Autism is more of a neurological disability vs a physical or health related like the heart. That daughter is never gonna learn with Karen as her mom and I say that as an Autistic woman. The daughter eventually needs to learn coping mechanism and if needed therapy.

Being aware of the existence of Transgender does not make your kid transgender. This is one of those situations that makes me question why Free Speach is as protected by the 1st amendment and other similar laws/amendments in other nations as it is.
I actually blame the First Amendment for causing transphobia, homophobia, racism, and other flavors of bigotry. The far-right has too many RIGHTS for their own good. I've known several people with autistic children and fear of dogs seems to be a common thread. I have had several breeds and rhe larger dogs like labradors etc seem to cause the most fear,we have had several Shelties ( they look like small versions of Lassie) that didn't cause the kids to be absolutely terrified in fact after an hour or so the kids were fine with the dogs to where they would pet the dog almost constantly and would take treats from the kids as well.
First story: People's needs(not wants!) sometimes clash. Being autistic or allergic or something that means not being able to be around dogs, has to suck for people considering there are service dogs, who are needed to be around. In the end people need to communicate as in: "could you go this way and I go that so that we both can shop/do whatever" But considering that "service dog" is a highly misused label conflicts like this will occur. THAT SAID.... The mother in the story is an isiot, she seeks confrontation because her mind can not fathom someone youn having a disability, while claiming, that her young child has a disability. That is just bonkers.

Sounds like mom was afraid not the kid. My son has autism and we taught him to learn how to be ok in public with exposure and explanations. Time and consistency is key for animals and kids. This woman is making things worse for the kid and dog too
Story 5 is NTA in any way , shape, or form. The couple decided to start a costume party and change it to a wedding, secretly, and there's is no problem at all with a corpse bride costume for a costume party, even if it is celebrating an engagement. It's pretty funny actually. I'd personally be making sure they showed up in lots of wedding photos.

Whether there's a dedicated smoking area or not doesn't change the incredible level of entitlement it takes to smoke INDOORS, subjecting staff and othet patrons to second-hand smoke. Most people who work at restaurants can't afford to just quit their jobs because you're turning their worksite into a health hazard, but that doesn't mean they deserve to develop lung cancer.

OMG Story 5- I hate surprise weddings... My husband had an Aunt who did that, disguised it as a family reunion... We got wind of it and my Husband, our Family and My Sister in Law didn't show up... There is so much crap that can go wrong especially in this costume party theme... I mean there are a lot of wedding themed costumes that are cute and totally appropriate for the whole come as what ever there is no theme costume party. But I know where this is going... Bride is going to go off the rails on OP for wearing a bridal costum to her wedding. I saw one of these once where the Bride hid her destination wedding in the plans for the bachelorette party and got made when her bridal party wore pastel sundresses on a carribean beach at sunset for a "cocktail party". This brain dead ideas never end well and I know OP is going to ask AITA for showing up as a bride from a popular halloween movie to a costume party and ruining her friend's sur[rise wedding- and the answer is no- no she absolutly is not.
