Reviving the Craft of Felting in Kazakhstan

  • During my visit to Kazakhstan I met with Aigul Zhanserikova who is reviving the craft of felting there. She explained how she got started, and provided a demonstration of the technique in her atelier.

      I do not make felt, the lady in the video does. She is in Kazakhstan; are you? If so, I don't think she will be hard to find. And yes, I think she does give felting lessons.

      Hey Stuart, thanks for watching and leaving a comment! Yes, there are lots of felt items around in our world. I used to buy colored felt at my local crafts store and couldn't quite figure out what it was. I'm pretty sure it wasn't wool felt though, and I don't know if your pennants were created by exactly the same process ;-)

      It is not powder, it is soapsuds. They use baby soap which is white when it foams up.
