Amazing Karina!!! I am the pattern designer Masin:) the dress looks absolutely stunning on you, thank you for making such a great video about it💗
Thank you so much 😊. I thought I’d show view B some love 🥰
I especially like the black one. Beautiful
Black dress a simple holiday must. Video was very detailed.
Thank you so much 😊. Do you mention being detailed as a positive? I try to show all the practicalities, so that someone who has never tried these techniques, has all the visuals and answers, especially the reasons why things are done 😀
Just found this tutorial. Absolutely love the Black version. Lots of tips too, thank you x
The black one is very elegant and they both fit you so well. So nice.
I think that first dress would be wonderful over a pair of capris leggings. But, the black one is by far my favorite, just a wonderful little black dress.
Both dresses are so pretty and feminine and the black one is very elegant. Another amazing video. Thank you, Karina.
Your black dress is stunning on you! I almost didn't watch this, because I usually avoid cowl necks. But, you're right! It's very flattering and not bulky. I can't wait to see new chiffon dusters paired with this dress. I haven't made anything on the bias, but when I do, I'll come back to this vlog for tips. I'm glad you broke your 2 m fabric buying rule for the black dress, because it's a stunner!
I have always avoided sewing anything on the bias because of all the wasted fabric. But I am encouraged to try it now because of watching your video. So, thanks a lot for the tips!
Love both dresses, but love the black on you much better.Has a more elegant look . Another great sew..
I love the black version
The black one looks amazing on you.
The black one makes a nice choice for a more formal party dress depending on jewelry and accessories used.
Definitely. If I even went to parties I’d chose the less is more approach like this dress.
The black dress is especially lovely on you.
Both dresses look very nice.
Thank you so much 😊
Thank you Karina for the new style video wonderful but I am noughty as I am viewing at mid day when I out to be getting som exercise as we have a lovely sunny day here in North Somerset England .
Thanks again Janet.
Loved the black one! You made the Burrito method look sooo easy, thanks for sharing!❤️❤️
Love ❤️ the black dress on you! Great tutorial and tips!
Love love love the black one! So elegant and sophisticated.
Thank you so much and the rayon twill feels substantial on. Super soft.
I don’t think it’s too short at all....you have the legs for it! You could make a black slip using the same skirt but longer. It would give a light layered look.
I have bits left Over from the sides and will definitely plan that :)
Love the black dress!
Have this pattern, haven’t tried it yet. Thanks sooo much for sharing, helped a lot to understand sewing on the bias!❤️
You’ll love it :)
Lovely as usual 🙂
Thank you so much 😊
I remember making a bias cut skirt from a Vogue designer pattern years and years ago. There was 1-1/2 inches extra seam allowance on the sides. The instructions said to hang for 72 hours and then pin the side seams to where you wanted the fullness to be. It was really surprising how narrow it got. Every fabric will be a bit different so, basicaly, you are making a prototype every time you use the same pattern.
Lovely! So beautiful, inside and out.
Thank you so much 😊
You are so adorable! Thanks for showing the burrrito method once again. I'm making my daughter a slip dress and think i'll follow your pattern.
This method is super neat and I always enjoy it :)
Yes! The black is so pretty! I find it drapes a bit better that the other dress
The slip under the crepe dress is not helping the drape at all unfortunately. Rayon is the king is drape 😍
Downloaded the pattern today and I will sew it! No fear and I will add a flutter sleeve.
Thank you again for a fantastic tutorial. I am going to make a black dress now.
Thank you Karina. You always teach me something different to think about to sew in the future. xx
I’m so glad! Thanks for watching 😊.
Amazing talent Thank you
You’re very welcome :)
The dress is beautiful and, if you are unhappy with it being short, an alternative would be to cut it off as a top and then use the extra fabric to finish the bottom edge as a hip band with sash tie ends. It would suit the cowl neckline very well. I am thinking of making a bias cowl neck dress so thank you for your video.
The dress was made into a top a long time ago, after I made this video. I kept it simple and just hemmed it shorter without other details.
Love it with the cardigan,
Me too :) it’ll be permanent, I think :)
Just like you, I really didn't think this pattern was for me because all I saw out there was the spaghetti strap versions, thanks for making this! And as always, you have so many great tips. The way you explain things just make sense to me, so I guess our brains work a bit similarly when it comes to sewing.
We are brain twins and that’s awesome 😎. If I’d actually looked at the website, I would’ve made this sooner!
I love both dresses on you. Very stunning! The black dress looks amazing with your Causeway Bomber jacket.
Thank you for the tip of positioning the pattern pieces in opposite directions. I have been want to make a bias cut sweater and would have had a twisted mess if not for this video. Thank you!
Very nice pattern. Great tutorial. Thank you for all the helpful tips with cutting bias pattern, burrito facings.
I’m glad you liked it :) Thanks for watching 😊.
Looks gorgeous on you x
I love these dresses on you. What about wearing the striped one over pants for a dress-tunic look. I looked online at images and found several examples of this. The black looks absolutely stunning on you. This silhouette is so awesome on you. You look so good in it!
Thank you so much 😊. I can’t seem to rock the pants and tunic look so far, even though I’ve tried. I have an idea to sew a little slip with part of the left over fabric at the bottom like a flounce and it’ll be like a later underneath for more length
Love the black dress on you. Simple, elegant and perfect fit. Thank you for trying in a thicker fabric like a rayon twill. This pattern is on my queue to make a dress for my daughter next summer. Bias cut design will be a first for me and you gave me confidence I can pull it off. Thanks
What a figure flattering design. 😍 If I wore dresses, I would definitely sew this number up.
This can be a top for sure. I think I’ll be making more tops from the pattern... less fabric :)
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles duh of course, tops! I didn’t even think of that. Thanks🙏🏻
I Always see dresses as tops and tops as dresses 😀
Beautiful dresses Karena. Could you use stay tape on all sides instead of stitching to stop the stretch please.
I wouldn’t fuse stay tape to delicate fabrics. It would make them totally stiff and especially on the side seams, the dress wouldn’t flow well. I would fuse on shoulders, but that’s about it. Stay stitching accomplishes the goal without compromising the drape of the fabric.
Karina thank you so much for that you are a great help to us novice sewers.
The dresses are beautiful. The black one is stunning! I love your sewing tutorials; they are always so straightforward and helpful. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge!
I’m glad you like my videos :)
Love the black one!
They both look lovely on you I really love the black one . I usually stay away from bias cut I find they cling to my hips but they look good on you. I do make that neckline but usually on tops or waist dress.
I’m sure I’ll be using this pattern for tops, less fabric 😀. I think the ease for the hips is right here and it doesn’t cling.
wow lovely... I don't know if I could do it... I am new to sewing
Lovely! Very useful to see your process. I am jealous of the mango tree and parrots flying about. :-)
They are crazy right now! So many parrots out and about.
Nice dresses. Great tips. The black one is so elegant in all its simplicity. 💕
I have never have made a dress on the bias. Yours look fabulous!! That black one is gorgeous on you.
I too don't like to use fabric hungry patterns either.
I love that Dayo Dress that she has. Haven't made mine yet!
I use fabric hungry every now and then, I couldn’t do it all the time 🤪. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for the patterns in this brand.
Hi! I always get a smile while watching you! Did you ever make the thin strap version with wider straps and a higher arm hole opening? Do you think it is possible to do a sway back adjustment on this type of pattern? I also have pooling in the back for almost everything I make and I find the traditional sway back adjustment helps. But would it work with a bias cut pattern? I think you mentioned darts?
I like all the features of the garment. I would try to make a top from the pattern.
Me too. Lovely and less fabric :)
I think the length is nice for your height. The dress is adorable!
Thank you so much 😊
Fabulous dresses! Love them!
Your Drapey dress looks stunning and the shorter length looks lovely on you. If it still makes you feel self-conscious how about sewing a frill on the hemline.
Love watching your videos l learn so much from you 💖
Gorgeous! I'm going to study your shoulder method - I want to make this!
Me again. When you did your stay stitching what stitch length did you use and was it zig zag. Thank you again. I’m going to make the dress for my friend and want to do it properly. Your video is the best I’ve seen.
Hi Dee. When I stay stitch around the edges, I use the normal stitch length I use for straight stitching. Not a zig zag stitch for stay stitching :)
Thank you so much Karina. 😘
Stunning! Great tutorial! I love a cowl neck but sometimes I find them too low. How can I alter the pattern to heighten the neckline? Thank you Karina!
This neckline is not low at all. I actually find it high. Have a good look at how it fits me. I would have commented if I found it low because I’m super modest with my necklines. When I bend forward, there’s no issues at all.
That black dress looks great on you. Why does a bias cut look so much nicer than a straight cut?
The bias of wovens allows the fabric to stretch and mould to the shape of the body usually looking super flowy without needing the volume of fabric required in straight cut styles like this. It just always looks great 👍🏼
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles TY
You look lovely
If there was any fabric left you could have added a flouce
Hi Karina
I am ready to sew this dress. My question is that I need help figuring how to properly true the hem on myself. I live in a house of all non seeing men and have no one to pin and no mannequin! Any suggestions?
There’s a gadget that helps with hems. It’s a chalk marker. I found one on amazon www.amazon.com/Dritz-Deluxe-Hem-Marcador-paquete/dp/B00188HMVI/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?crid=3JWIIZDP99WLT&keywords=Metal+Freestanding+Chalk+Hem+Marker&qid=1658595052&sprefix=metal+freestanding+chalk+hem+marker+%2Caps%2C966&sr=8-5 this gadget helps you do it yourself.
Thank you!!
I tried to look up where you show how the burrito works and can’t find it
I’ve listed three videos in the description box :)
Haya. Both your dresses are beautiful :) The drape is lovely & falls with gentle swishyness :) Great teamed up with your Bomber jacket :) Thanku for sharing. x
