Welcome to the 53rd St. Gallen Symposium! Our Opening Ceremony heralds the official beginning of this year's cross-generational dialogue, where we embark on a journey under the theme "Confronting Scarcity." Through first inputs, we aim to engage our attendees, fostering unity and anticipation for the enriching experiences that lie ahead. This momentous occasion serves as a platform to express heartfelt gratitude, extend warm welcomes to all participants, and ignite the flame of enthusiasm that will illuminate our collective path forward. ABOUT THE ST. GALLEN SYMPOSIUM
The St. Gallen Symposium is the world’s leading initiative for intergenerational debates on economic, political and social developments. The symposium takes place annually in May at the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland.
The St. Gallen Symposium is annually organised by the International Students’ Committee (ISC), an independent student initiative at the University of St.Gallen. For ten months, a team of approximately 30 students voluntarily engages in the challenging task of organising an outstanding St. Gallen Symposium. During the symposium week, the ISC Team is supported by about 450 student volunteers. Three members of last year’s team are taking up the role of Head of the Organising Committee.

Here is a little poem that might give you a different perspective on the opening letter:
In a world of innovation, where progress takes its flight,
The future gleams with promise, shining day and night.
Technological marvels, dreams that have been cast,
Now shape the world before us, turning fantasy to fact.
From clean energy harnessed by the power of the sun,
To medical advances, curing ailments one by one.
Sustainability guiding, a greener path in sight,
With each new day that's dawning, the future's looking bright.
    Global connections strengthen, cultures intertwine,
Uniting distant voices, forming bonds that shine.
Education spreading, wisdom’s seeds take root,
Empowering the next ones to nurture growing shoots.
Artistic visions flourish, inspiring many more,
Creative minds igniting, opening new doors.
Human spirit rising, lifting to new heights,
With unity and passion, the future’s looking bright.
So let's embrace tomorrow, its challenges and gains,
With optimism driving, no effort is in vain.
Together we'll keep building, creating future's light,
For in this world of wonders, the future's looking bright.
