Horthy and wife drive through beflagged streets to Hitler's place. There are good shots of street decorations such as high white columns topped with Golden eagles, and other Nazi emblems. Afterwards Hitler, Horthy and Goering appear on the balcony to the accompaniment of huge cheers. Hitler wears evening dress. Next day there is a big march-past of troops, tanks, armoured cars, and gun-carriages witnessed by Hitler and his visitor.

Hungary was sandwiched between Communism and Fascism, both of which he saw as a serious threat, but in the end he had to pick the lesser of 2 evils; and since Horthy remembered all too well what communism did to his country after the end of WW1, since he himself freed his country from its grip and is how he came to become the Reagent of the Kingdom of Hungary, he chose to side with Hitler, as unpleasant as it was.

Everyone! Horthy was not nazi and he didn't want to join WW2. But Hungary bordered the Reich so we had to choose: occupation or war. We chose war to keep Hungary as independent as possible. When we wanted to join the allies in 1944, Germany occupied Hungary.
