Don’t forget: 1. Hama-Kanaya (big Buddha, Cable Car & hiking trails). We do the anti-clockwise loop… Tokyo > Kurihama > Ferry > Kanaya > Hama-Kanaya > Kisarazu > Chiba > Tokyo One of our favourite day trips. 2. Niigata - go and dip your feet in the Sea of Japan. Some lovely Stops along the way as well.
Very well presented tips ... For me, Kawagoe, Shimoda Izu Peninsula, Kawaguchiko, are the standouts. I'd swap out any of the rest for Mitake on the upper Tama river, Karuizawa Nagano, Sawara Chiba. Tip: DON'T go anywhere near Hakone on a weekend or holiday, the transit line-ups will ruin your day. Each to his own but I'd suggest skipping the heavily tourist-trodden Lake Ashi/Hakone area altogether.
Again great video packed of useful info!! It’s like having my private planner. Thanks 🙏 I would have put Karuizawa which is a great destination too. Already looking forward to your next video!
If you are a nature hiking lover, I vote the Nokogiriyama(鋸山), too. This place is easy access from both JR station and the Hamakanaya ferry port. Take the ferry to cross the Tokyo bay will be fun.
This is a great video, thank you very much for it ! Personally, I am not a fan of day trips. I prefer to spend more time (1-2 nights) in such places, so that I can also enjoy it before the day visitors arrive, and after they leave. Then, the destination will be a totally different place, and much more relaxed. This is the case for example in Kawaguchigo, which is extremely busy during the day. Another place like that (not in the Tokyo area), is Miyajima, near Hiroshima. During the day, its totally overrun by day visitors. Otherwise, its so pleasant. On our next trip to Japan, we will spend 2 nights in Kamakura, and I really look forward to it.
Out of curiousity, where are you from ? Your Englisch is perfect and I guess you are from the US or Canada, but there is an accent, and I cant place it. Spanish, Italian or Greek ?
I agree .. it’s sometimes exceptional to stay over night and you’ll get the place without tourists in the morning and evening, but some locations like kamakaura have early trains from Tokyo .. miyajima and kawaguchiko will certainly be seen in a different light by staying there
I went 5 out of 10 of these day trips. Another good day trip is going to Odawara, which only 37 minutes via shinkansen from tokyo station. It is a good way if you want to introduce yourself riding shinkansen and the odawara castle is only 10 minutes away from odawara station. Nagano is also a good option as a day trip from tokyo. Only 1 hour and 17 minutes via kagayaki shinkansen. Zenkoji temple is only 5-7 minutes via calpico bus. famous snow monkey is extra 1 hour from nagano station but if you want to see the same monkey(japanese macaque) you can just go to joyama zoo close to zenkoji temple' which also has flamingos and deer that you can see from nara.
Keio Line from Shinjuku is the best way to get there. only 54 minutes by express train. Momiji : Yes!You can enjoy beautiful foliage.please google 紅葉 高尾山
I need to do some of these day trips or overnighters the next time I'm in Tokyo. Some were on my list before, but now they all are. List getting too long for one trip. I'll just have to be like Ninja Monkey, and make multiple trips per year.
Yes, you can use both SUICA or PASMO for all those destinations, however, the excursion in Hakone area is Hakone Free Pass is much less cost and more convenient than using IC Card.
@@NinjaMonkeyguy nice! I always feel like walking away from my phone was a bad idea in public just to record myself walking among the crowd. Thanks for the reply!
hmmm,... it is strange to me,... you don't know about Nokogiriyama in Chiba Prefecture ... please understand more about Japan (^_^) ... Hakone and Enoshima are nice but Dogashima is much more beautiful ... anyway, Japan is not safe if you have to deal with LDP or deal with the mafia ...

Great options to consider. We will plan on at least one or two of these with the time we have. Awesome!!! Thanks✨️🐒
Been to 5/10, good ideas for the next trip thanks Nathan!
Very concise! So excited 35 days to go and now I can start planning
Awesome! Check out the Japan starter kit playlist! To help further
Really great footage man!

Thank you for the insights always! Definitely adding a few of these to my travel wish list 🌟
Some people like to make Tokyo a base so this will hopefully help
Would love it if you did a similar video for Kyoto day trips too!
thanks.. maybe that can happen in the future
Just the video I needed today whilst we plan our Tokyo itinerary
Great!!!

It’s great that you added this comment for people who want to explore further!
Love it! I need to get back there again. Until then I will just relive Japan through your videos. Thanks Nathan ♥️
Always need to get back hehe
Great video, Nathan! Trip is coming soon! Leaving Florida on 8/25!
This video is sooo useful! You have to do a sequel with day trips from Kyoto/ Osaka
Thank you

I’ve got all of these on my list, but probably won’t be able to visit them all when I go in a couple of months time so I’ll just have to go again 🤣
I went twice these year(tokyo) it was never enough. I haven't been to osaka and kyoto so i guess i have to go like 2-3 times to japan per year.
thats the Ninja monkey spirit! hehe repeat travel :)
My favorite day Trip is Oyama in Isehara :)
I love Mt Takao , I was surprised to see Mt Fuji 🗻 from the summit I think it one I'll do again
Enoshima is wonderful!!❤
Izu Peninsula will be on my itinerary. Two nights at an onsen ryokan and explore the surrounding areas accessible by bus or train.
exciting!

Is it feasible to travel to these places using an IC card or do I need buy seperate tickets?
@@geralt7144 I have the same question

mostly yes you can
Can you make about how we find free drinks water in public?
There are many fountains and most of the water in Japan is drinkable
When the video shows you walking to the camera, are you recording SOLO or is someone else recording you? Asking as a solo traveler
I would say 90% of my footage is me as a solo traveller mounting the camera on a tripod, sometimes I do meet friends who help
@@NinjaMonkeyguy nice! I always feel like walking away from my phone was a bad idea in public just to record myself walking among the crowd. Thanks for the reply!
2 hrs away too far for a day trip but the rest are great. Nice video
Options for everyone, 2h is ok because it’s so easy to catch public transportation
2hrs to day-trip destinations is actually quite do-able, leave early, return late 👍
What about Chiba and Boso? You don't know? That's a shame.😢
ofcourse I know, but then it wouldn't be a list of ten heh :)
Is dollars can take it japanese bus staff both in Narita airport to give me ticket?
You need to pay in yen in Japan or exchange your dollars at the airport first
How about free WiFi in public?
no point, its not too readily available., its usually hard to connect to
