Do you remember at the beginning of the show when Darren asked Cash why he hadn't graduated and he looked directly at him and said he had his reasons?! DARREN, DARREN WAS THE REASON!! He wouldn't be able to see him anymore. I'm dead.

Amerie was way more forgiving of Harper than I would've been. Obviously her anger was justified but the physical assault? Nah. I understand it was difficult for her to talk about what happened, but Amerie pleaded with her so many times. I can see why Amerie did forgive her because of all their history but, idk. Couldn't be me.
i wanted to point this out in detail just in case: as jesly mentioned in the video malakai going camping is him reconnecting with the land, or what aussies call "the bush". Indigenous Australians have a deep connection to land & Country - it's central to their spirituality, culture & identity. Dreamtime or "the dreaming" is the indigenous australian lore/belief where the spiritual world is inextricably linked to the physical - their creation story tells us of Spirits that leave imprints on the land, & that people who pass will leave their mark too. That's why the land is so sacred, and why the older "brother" who saved malakai from jumping from the roof, took him back into nature to help him heal (p.s. indigenous australians will sometimes refer to e/o as brother/sister or cuz/cousin even if not related)

Darren’s dad was a character in the original heartbreak high show!! It’s a lot different to this one so I wouldn’t even call it a reboot but I thought it was a nice detail

i feel like Amerie could’ve never known what was happening bc harper never told her. so i don’t blame her as much for not knowing
My take on the Harper situation is that I understand why she mad but i didn’t get all the other stuff that she did because yes what she went through was very very traumatic but she never expressed that to amerie so how was she supposed to know what happened if Harper would never talk about it . And I don’t really think amerie was not that bad of a friend because I think Harper really hid the situation she was going through an example was when they had the taco Tuesdays indicating she was not always home when her dad was around so she just spent that time with amerie
Exactly, like on the night everything happened even if harper said something like “let me in something really bad happened” or “it’s an emergency” instead of just calling out “amerie are you there” or whatever i’m sure amerie would’ve let her in- harper hated her for not letting her in but from ameries pov she was just embarrassed to be seen with spider and had no idea harper was ever in trouble, that was obvious from the way she genuinely had no clue why harper was so upset until harper explained….everything that happened that night is definitely an explanation for harpers behavior this season but it’s not a total excuse
@@sehnisweet343I don't think it's Amerie's fault what happened that night bc all the blame should be on the guys & the dad, but I also don't think we should look over the fact that Amerie left Harper at the festival, after not having a clue where she was. A good friend would make sure the other is safe, even after an argument. Also, she promised Harper that she could spend the night
Amerie was a terrible friend. She just left Harper at the festival to go bang Spider. And then when Harper showed up at her house, literally begging to be let in, she ignored her. Couldn’t be me with any of my friends, let alone my best friend. And she kicked Spider straight out. So why not send him out through the house and let Harper in the window?
And the only thing Harper purposely did to Amerie was the punch, which I get. Everything else has been her trying to cope with her cptsd.
@@Drummer4President I'll disagree with that last part. I'll let the whole Dusty relationship slide (even though she knew how much Amerie liked him) but she did say it was never about hurting Amerie. But there is no excuse for sleeping with Malakai. He was completely out of it due to the police brutality, the drugs and the alcohol. To then sleep with him to "make him feel less alone" is disgusting. I don't care if Dusty "initiated" it, she was of sound mind to stop it. But she really did just want to get laid in that moment. And the fact that her defence to Amerie was that she thought they were broken up is BS, because Malakai allegedly dumps Amerie and then 10 minutes later she's hooking up with him? That's screwed up anyway, regardless of the situation. There is no excuse for that and it absolutely was to hurt Amerie.

As we’ve seen over the seasons, Harper uses sex as a coping mechanism, so it makes perfect sense that in her drunken and drugged up state, she thought it was an acceptable way of comforting him. And when she sobered up, she was trying to check in with him. It wasn’t done just to get laid, and I don’t think ANY of them were thinking about Amerie, let alone for Harper to be plotting to do it specifically to hurt her. She didn’t want her to find out about it at all.

Hello this is your Australian teenage representative here, to explain some shit:
-3:25 A big part of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island (ATSI) culture is connection to land. Each Indigenous nation within Australia has their own customs and beliefs, but a common denominator amongst essentially all of them is this connection. With Malakai being a member of the First Nations community, taking the chance to connect with his land is both grounding and personal for him. It's for this reason that we don't get a complete glimpse into what exactly happened with him and Jay. It's a very individual experience and quite private amongst members of the ATSI community.
-3:46 The legal drinking age in Australia is 18, and most of these characters are 17. I can only speak for myself, but most parents I know were okay with underage drinking, so long as it wasn't excessive. There are of course the occasional people who were like "no drinking until you're 18", but they were few and far between. When I graduated, those who were 18 were allowed to drink at the Formal, which is basically like Senior Prom.
-4:13 One thing I think is very unrealistic about Heartbreak High is the fact that THESE KIDDOS ARE NOT STRESSED ABOUT SCHOOL. In the last 2 years of high school in the state of New South Wales (where this is set) the vast majority of students undertake what's known as the Higher School Certificate or HSC. You do the Preliminary prerequisites for the main course in Year 11 (Junior year), and the main course in Year 12 (Senior year). The characters in HBH are in Year 11 and when I was that age I was too busy shitting my pants over how much work I had, that there was no way I had time for drama like this. Even the kids who didn't care about school were too pre-occupied with schoolwork.
AAAAA girl that was one hell of finale for this series, and I cannot wait to see your reaction to season 2, but can I just say, thanks for showing interest in a show that doesn't stereotype Australians. It's really awesome to see someone on the other side of the globe getting an understanding of Australian culture, without it being all crocodile hunters and surfer dudes. 😂
