Did you guys see the first person attached by a great white in the northeast just happened. I was wrong saying it was going to happen last year. The APP Sharktivity is blowing up with Great White sighting and seals being eaten daily. Plenty of Ocearch sharks pinging in up there also. Quite a few videos out there and one of a huge one jumping to try and bite a tagger in a boat and surfers being chased out of the water. They're covering it up pretty good just like JAWS!
Oh my gosh! Finally a new episode. I'm an old guy so social media sites are not my thing. Just glad to see you. Sierra you look absolutely beautiful. I figured you guys were working I just get spoiled while you are out just cruising around.Be safe.
I don't know if you still monitor comments on old videos, but I have decided to purchase a Highfield CL310 FCT or 340FCT for exploring local rivers. Seeing your endorsement of Highfield really helped. I don't own any other boat. This is just for fun.
Hey, If you guys received this great boat free, in exchange for your advertising it, then that's super! And if you were simply able to just buy it, then I'm happy that your sailing life and UA-cam work is paying off. These are some very excellent dinghies/tenders, and you've done a wonderful job of showing it. Fair winds.
We will be heading up to Nassau Point, Cutchogue, across from Robins Island September 7 for 3 weeks. Getting my boat back in the water. Can’t wait !! Love your videos !!
Nice review of the RIB. One consideration for most folks might be how tough is it to drag up on the beach or do you just set a stern anchor, bow line to the beach and leave it in the water?
We are happy to see a new video! Here's a lil something to think about, I have used a Wal-Mart lawn mower battery to start my 25hp Yamaha outboard for several years and it works great! The benefits are that it's small, lightweight and best of all only $25... good luck with the new tender!
Have had two double hulled dinghies - an Avon and a Carolina Skiff. Both developed leaks from above and impossible to get out. Added tremendous weight.
We just put in our order for the same dinghy but you now get the faux teak deck flooring at no extra charge! Went with dark grey vinyl as I will make dinghy chaps again on this new one! Great video guys!
Greetings from Canada, first time looking at your channel, great relaxing video to watch especially when it’s almost winter up here in Edmonton, thank You!
Another great video. Loved our West Marine Dinghy when we had it. Your dinghy is excellent. Glad I was able to see you when I was kayaking. Thanks for including the pic in this video. Give a call if you get out to the Shoreham area. Safe travels.
Planning on a trip to little torch key in the keys this winter to my boys house. He has a 42 foot boat and he wants to plan a trip to the Bahamas. What a adventure that would be.
I lived in the Exumas during the 80's and early 90's. We tried several inflatables including Zodiac and I think an Avon. I hated them because we had to consider them disposable after a couple of seasons. The first season they were great. Usually the leaks started the second season and were never on the bottom where you'd expect. Leaks always started on the top of the pontoons, indicating UV damage. It was so disappointing to walk to the beach and find the dinghy flat. The patch kits are a joke. You could clean the area and apply the patch then wait a day or two for the glue to dry and maybe it would work for a few weeks before a leak starts at the edge of the patch. It was impossible to get another patch to seal at the step where the first patch meets the original pontoon material. You could still use the dinghy but you had to inflate it again each time you wanted to put it in the water. I have an Oliver Boat as a dinghy now. It looks like an inflatable but is rigid, high density polyethylene (HDPE). It fits nicely on the dive platform of my Carver 27 and is lifted by a cheap Harbor freight winch mounted to my solar panel rack that also provides shade for the rear deck. I have had no problem with scratching through the bottom even on barnacle and oyster beaches. With a little practice, you can even weld HDPE using zip tie ends as filler and a soldering iron or special plastic welding iron for heat. I do not believe that I will ever need a replacement dinghy again.
I have a Hypalon 10.5 ft Avon with HP inflatable floor. I like the ease of assembly, how compact you can roll it up, and how comfortable it is on bare feet. That said, the floor and thus the hull flexes way too much with just light chop and a 6HP outboard. I'm probably going back to using my rigid floor Zodiac that is PVC. Its more of a pain to assemble, but its way stiffer. I'd tell any serious cruiser that a RHIB is better for so many reasons. You get what you pay for.
Essentially your boat is a RIB, rigid inflatable boat. I noticed in the stern near the motor you had built in gussets that go from the stern to the floor which is incredibly strong and you'll never have a problem. Very nice choice! Hypalon is what they use on fishing rod grips and doesn't degrade in the Sun which is a very good choice. Just curious at the weight of the RIB without the engine? Fair Winds and following Seas....... From New Jersey!
Nice thanks for the review. Three things: 1. Always wear the kill cable. 2. Get a bolt-on cavitation plate, about $70. Faster to plane and more stable ride. 3. Put 1-2’ semi rigid tube on the gas handle. Allows you to ride further forward, and you can bend it out of the way.
Thanks for the recommendations Dan! Hey e actually do have an extension handle and used it a lot on the old dinghy but have found on this one that the boat is still trimmed very well sitting in the back with the gas tank all the way in the front. We still keep it on board though
Thank you!!!!! Great video! I really appreciate the details ! I'm still boat shoping and haven't really been checking the dinghy details but your info is so educational. Do you have a recomendation on the dealer and care to reveal the cost?
Nice info. I've got a dinghy. a small 8' flat bottom. I'm now look at motors. Gas vs propane vs electric...would love a segment on that to go with this one. thanks!
I did a lot of research before i bought the highfield 3.40. I have had lots of inflatables but my best ever has been the caribe 11 foot light. I got 14 years and its still going. Were talking surf boat and every single day use . Always kept a cover on the tubes. Untill about 3 years ago. Covers wear out 5 years . 400.00 . Each minimum so did not invest again. But i am sceptical about my new dingy. I find the highfield rides nicer than the caribe but weighs exact same 62kg but the hypalon is much thinner on highfields. I bought the double floor bow section same as you not the light. One issue is in chop the aluminum floor just feels really flimsy on the side walls. Time will tell. If i get 10 years i will be happy. It has a cover a quality one These cost 5,000.00 us in thailand new. I bought mine used for 3,000.00 it was used 1 time. Its new. But used so scored. I think. I highly recomend putting wheels on youre transome guys. I bought beachmaster made in newzealand. Check them out. Less than 250.00 delivery included delivered anywhere in the world. They fit really nice up under the transome you dont see them from topside. They dont drag in the waterThey are high quality stuff. Easy to install and well it will save youre hull and back. Not heavy cause aluminium contruction. Top stuff. Interested if you notice youre hull feels flimsy in choppy stuff. I also find the drain plug drains too slow. I live in indo it rains every day. I dont like this part of the set up. Think i will install a manual bilge pump at stern. Cheers
You guys are awesome...great video as always!! I do have just one quick question...how does the weight added to the dingy effect the beachablity, or more importantly, the ability to launch the dingy from the beach with just a couple? I would imagine there would be a size/weight limit where the dingy is too much for a couple to handle on the beach. I am thinking on a 12' aluminum RIB with center console but I'm concern it might be too heavy to handle easily on the beach. Thank you for all you do! Cheers!
Hi guy's !!! , Love your videos !!!!! Which of the dinghies That's West Marine sales you recomend . Me & my girl are heavy weight's . We Just want to be confortables and sail with Friends. Thank's a Lot !!! GOD BLESSED YOU !!!
I had a Italian inflatable that was 20 odd years old . True quality with fibreglass bottom . I miss it as sold with my yacht. Now I’m looking at a AB with Yamaha 15hp . Used to Yamaha. I see you have Suzuki. Do you rate that 2 stroke outboard?
Other than the fact that it was too big, too heavy, burned too much gas, etc. the Boston Whaler was the best dinghy ever. Towed a 13 and sometimes a 17 behind a trawler throughout the Bahamas in the 80's and 90's. Still have my 1964 Whaler in the States.
Hah. I am a terrible speller, but I caught the misspelled "Summer", and had to think a moment. You guys ROCK! Love you and Jetty too. (You didn't say anything about horsepower! Maybe another video?) Anyway, if wishes were fishes, we would never want for food. Keep up the great life you have and live like it's 2099!
We just try to always rinse it down with fresh water, keep it clean, do routine engine maintenance, and make sure the tubes get inflated when they get soft due to cold temps.
If I inflate my West Marine dingy with nitrogen instead of the air we breath will it last longer? I know I will not be inflating and deflating it for the summer. Thinking nitrogen will not expand and contract. Any help would be beneficial. Love the videos keep them coming.

Yes, a Highfield! Very nice.. I’ve looking an Highfield Ocean Master 390.. so nice.. May I ask the price range on this boat you are on? Great video btw...
I noticed that you called Nav lights optional, I would consider them mandatory, especially traveling with a dog sometimes they may need a shore break in the dark.
when I bought my first dinghy and knew very little, the one mistake I made was buying one with the transom height too low. It was bought from a major marine store & made by a major manufacturer, but when I mounted the 9.9 hp 4 stroke outboard on it, it constantly swamped with sea water over the transom, especially when slowing, turning or going reverse. I had to compensate by going to a smaller/lighter motor and using a tiller extension to move my weight forward.
Great video. The PVC material is not the way to go in my experience. I currently have a Trinka hard dingy and like the fact that it is bullet proof. Inflatables have many advantages for sure. But I will say that 50 years from now the Trinka will still be in use by someone.
You've spoken about the dinghy but not about the type and size of motor needed. Now that would be interesting to hear what your thoughts are about it. Ps. Missed you guys Dino, South Africa
Question: what is the smallest upgrade to outboard we can do and get to plane with two adults. We have 9.2 AB inflatable with yamaha 4 stroke 2 HP currently which is fine to putz around but what do we need to plane and should we have internal tank to save weight or not? Snake Plisken you need a 9.8 2 stroke. Tohatsu ,or mercury they are same engines . Not to be confused with 9.9 engines.
We know we spelled Summer* wrong. Jetty did the intro. Don't be too harsh, she has no thumbs...
Did she edit too?

I know it may be a bit rude to ask, would you give us an idea of what yours cost?

Nice job on this one. You could have also discussed engines since that is a big impact on weight and planing performance.
That outboard is incredibly quiet. The RIB is nice, but dang that motor is nice and quiet!

nice dinghy ...all the features you need and light enough for the cat...you folks did your research..thanks for sharing
We will be heading up to Nassau Point, Cutchogue, across from Robins Island September 7 for 3 weeks.
Getting my boat back in the water. Can’t wait !!
Love your videos !!
Nice little boat, really like the large gas tank in the front.
It's been 2 weeks since the last video! Glad you are back, I was getting worried.
I've had an ab 12 vs for several years now. I have a 25hp 2t yamaha and it great in the chop.
You can get a small lawn tractor battery at a Walmart for $20 and they make small battery boxes too. I put that in my dinghy and it works awesome.
That thing looks so damn comfortable... We're envious. Nice job Bill and Sierra, much love from me and Kimmi. ;)
Nice review of the RIB. One consideration for most folks might be how tough is it to drag up on the beach or do you just set a stern anchor, bow line to the beach and leave it in the water?

Thought for sure something bad had happened, glad you're all ok. Looks nice!
Have had two double hulled dinghies - an Avon and a Carolina Skiff. Both developed leaks from above and impossible to get out. Added tremendous weight.
Cant wait to see you guys out in the Caribbean again..
I used to have an old 20hp Johnson I would use on my 9ft Rigid dinghy when I wanted to go FAST! I called it my Big Johnson on a Hard dinghy!
We just put in our order for the same dinghy but you now get the faux teak deck flooring at no extra charge! Went with dark grey vinyl as I will make dinghy chaps again on this new one! Great video guys!
Yeah the new model is pretty freaking cool! Really like how much of it is covered with that soft paddling!
Greetings from Canada, first time looking at your channel, great relaxing video to watch especially when it’s almost winter up here in Edmonton, thank You!
Great to see you guys!!! Just saw you on Zingaro 😁😁😁
Great very informative video, for electric start I added a motorcycle battery, sealed and very small/inexpensive and works fine on my 15 hp omc.
X-mas came early! Missed you all. Hope you post again soon.
The sound in this episode is great!
Bout time you guys are back!!!!!
Graphics and adding the name of your main boat onto the tubes. Something to think about in buying.
It would be awesome if you could offer sailing excursions on some of your trips. What an experience that would be
Oh bless, have you got a new doggy? They look so happy together.
That’s Uncle Marlin! Billy’s dads dog
Another great video. Loved our West Marine Dinghy when we had it. Your dinghy is excellent. Glad I was able to see you when I was kayaking. Thanks for including the pic in this video. Give a call if you get out to the Shoreham area. Safe travels.

Zodiac and Avon have a 5 year warranty, things are different now...at ease man at ease...
Such gorgeous free diving shots!! Awesome!

A motorcycle or jet ski battery works just fine for those little outboards and is lightweight. I prefer the sealed ones. Buy it online. Great channel.
nice one _ I would say take a look at the new Catamaran tenders out there too.
I did a lot of research before i bought the highfield 3.40. I have had lots of inflatables but my best ever has been the caribe 11 foot light. I got 14 years and its still going. good information I like the ding you picked out I think you did your research good people on the adrenaline and jet he's such a ham
You could always add a lawn mower battery. It should be enough to start your engine and light on weight and space
Lovely, just do t you love dogs 🐕. Such sweeties, was in tears when Jetty swam to that island. She’s a star xxx
Great review! You didn’t mention Horsepower. What do you think is needed for what applications. What does your boat have? Do you want more? Thx!
Awesome video. You two are very good at making videos. Got both shirts zing and work like a captain. Will post pics soon.
Did you have to register the dinghy? Did jetty have to buy a license to drive the dinghy ? Thanks for sharing 😎
get a power bank car jump start , should start the dinghy 20 times before needing recharging ,.only 1/2 lbs.
Excellent idea! I'll try to remember if I get another electric start outboard.
I believe outboards require 14V to start. Would that do it?
yea man didn't think of that, will the car jump pak work.?
Mighty awesome video... Keep them coming young people. Blessings to you 3!
Great timing on this video. I am about to buy a Highfield 310 CL for my IP 350. Where did you buy your Highfield from?
You guys are awesome...great video as always!! I do have just one quick question...how does the weight added to the dingy effect the beachablity, or more importantly, the ability to launch the dingy from the beach with just a couple? Well done, hope your enjoying summer
If you want electric start, consider a small AGM jet ski battery. And a small battery box. Works great!
Even here in Maine hypalon is worth the extra cost.
This was a good video, thanks for taking the time to post
I had no idea there were so many options. Interesting. Is the black doggie yours? Do you guys live on the canal? It's cool.
It feel good to see u guys again
Great memories in those Oakdale canals. I was looking at the cl360, a bit to big and heavy for us.
As you said right after Zingaro signs off! Cheers warren
Other than the fact that it was too big, too heavy, burned too much gas, etc. the Boston Whaler was the best dinghy ever. Towed a 13 and sometimes a 17 behind a trawler throughout the Bahamas in the 80's and 90's. Still have my 1964 Whaler in the States.
glad to see y"all back
We missed you guys!!
Nice looking dinghy Billy and Serria, how is the tow-ability and durability of towing attachment? Cheers Warren
( I guess everyone else went to bed!)
Good analysis, like your videos entertaining and instructional.
i run an aluminium V nose punt that has had the nose chopped down to be 7ft long
How about what you have to do for dingy maintenance? Good, bad, easy, difficult, pain in the rear?
We just try to always rinse it down with fresh water, keep it clean, do routine engine maintenance, and make sure the tubes get inflated when they get soft due to cold temps.
If I inflate my West Marine dingy with nitrogen instead of the air we breath will it last longer? I know I will not be inflating and deflating it for the summer. Thinking nitrogen will not expand and contract. Any help would be beneficial. Love the videos keep them coming.
Nitrogen would definitely reduce the expansion/contraction factor I dont think it would affect how long it lasts however.
I don’t see an automatic cutoff switch attached to Sierra. Important safety feature.
yes, fall out or flip and get cut to pieces, very dangerous
Ha, this is great with the backdrop, dogs cruising around. I'd be watching this even if I didn't have a tender to buy! ;)
You guys gave further meaning to the idle hour
Love your new dink. Must have been a hell of a good life guard season,,
Nice video guys. Love seeing the local area
Hi guys. Love your videos. How about a comment on tube diameter. My experience is the bigger the tube diameter, the dryer you are likely going to stay in a chop. What's the diamter of tubes on your new dinghy? What is typical in a 10 or 11 foot inflatable?
Keep up the good work.
Yes, a Highfield! Very nice.. I’ve looking an Highfield Ocean Master 390.. so nice..
May I ask the price range on this boat you are on? Great video btw...
Awesome video…Thank you….you covered it all!
i have a west marine pvc a foot with an inflatable flor its great
I noticed that you called Nav lights optional, I would consider them mandatory, especially traveling with a dog sometimes they may need a shore break in the dark.
Corvair Chris we meant built in nav lights are an optional feature :) we use suction cup navigation lights
Woof guys, great video you should keep a extra pull cord with you for then being used breaks at least you will have a extra.
Shopping now, I have a 1993 Zodiac.. its super high quality but it's on it's last leg, Cheers !
One big consideration is whether your big boat can accommodate a particular length of the dink.
Good point!
when I bought my first dinghy and knew very little, the one mistake I made was buying one with the transom height too low. It was bought from a major marine store & made by a major manufacturer, but when I mounted the 9.9 hp 4 stroke outboard on it, it constantly swamped with sea water over the transom, especially when slowing, turning or going reverse. Thanks for the dinghy rundown and where do I go online to buy your merchandise please?
You’re welcome Grant we hope it is useful or interesting to you! You can check out or merchandise here tulasendlesssummer.com/shop-tula/
Just wondering what was your decision in choosing Suzuki over lets say, Yamaha,Honda, etc.
It’s the one that came with our old dinghy and a lot of people are happy with their Suzuki’s. We love ours so far.
Bless, he is gorgeous. Fluffy baby.
Your back?!?! Finally!
Great video. The PVC material is not the way to go in my experience. I currently have a Trinka hard dingy and like the fact that it is bullet proof. Inflatables have many advantages for sure. But I will say that 50 years from now the Trinka will still be in use by someone.
How many HP is your engine and how fast will it go? I'm looking for an Inflatable RIB that I can water-ski behind :)
if you wouldn't mind...what did your dinghy run as outfitted ?
Suzuki 9.9 EFI fuel injected, is the best small motor you can buy. One pull starts no carbs to deal with..
You've spoken about the dinghy but not about the type and size of motor needed. Now that would be interesting to hear what your thoughts are about it.
Ps. Missed you guys
Dino, South Africa
dinorgreg gregrdino small motor is fine
Question: what is the smallest upgrade to outboard we can do and get to plane with two adults.
