D&E did start with quite a few lighter songs, but they really started developing after Growing Pains. They both became more involved in songwriting and deciding the direction of their music. Finally! D&E is an amazing subunit. They fearless dive into genres like funk, hip hop, rock ballad, r&b, pop, electronic, dance, rap... Donghae is the main songwriter, composer, visual, the creative subunit's force while Hyukjae is the stage director and sometimes choreographer. Their chemistry is beyond everything, you can see it on the stage. Their live performances, specially Style Tour (2018) are explosive. I recommend to react to Take It Slow (super hot stage from Style Tour) maybe the best song about sex in the kpop. 'Bout You, the queen Winter Love (live), Still You, You Don't Go (live), Sweater & Jeans, Rum Dee Dee, Circus(live), Kimi Ga Naitara, Danger, Gloomy, No Love, Wings and their new soloist California Love and Blue Moon (Donghae) and Be and Red Mulhy (Hyukjae). D&E didn't start as an official sub unit. Originaly Oppa Oppa should have been Donghae solo song in Super Show, but he didn't like to perform solo so he asked Eunhyuk ti collaborate with him. But It was still only a collaboration for the SS. Was Lee Soo Man to suggest to release the Song as a single (it became really popular at the time). Super Junior K.R.Y (2006) is the vocal sub-unit or ballad sub-unit (even of also the other sub unit have ballad song) Super Junior T (2007) is the trot sub-unit Super Junior M (2008) is the chinese sub-unit, the sing in mandarin (M), the style is the same as the principal group (in the first album some of the songs are SuJu songs but in mandarin), It's the sub-unit of Zhoumi and Henry Super Junior H, is the Happy sub-unit, their style is bubblegum-pop Super Junior D&E is the dance sub-unit, they don't have a defined music style.

D&E music is so versatile, and most of the songs , ideas for an album, etc comes from DongHae… What can I say! “Oppa oppa” (ketchup and mustard suits 🤣) and “Can you feel it” are so funny and light but “growing pains” (one of DongHae master pieces) is a great ballad. I love “still you” (another ballad) but if you want diversity check “sweater and jeans, rum dee dee, ‘bout you, danger, circus” and from the last mini album “B.A.D” and my favorite “No Love” Don’t see the Medley yet, it is full of nice memories about all these songs 😃 you need to watch first ‘bout you, danger , BAD and no love Thanks again!
There was an Oppa, Oppa performance where the rest of the SuJu members joined in. It is also a delightful watch. Donghae and Eunhyuk released solo titles just recently. But, won't go into that yet. I will suggest D&E performances on 'Bout You, Kimi Ga Naitara (Live), Sweater and Jeans (Live) and Rum Dee Dee (Live). As always, your reactions are enjoyable to watch. Keep it up!
I've recently been on a D&E exploration journey and I've concluded that they doesn't really have a specific genre. They're super versatile and have songs in almost any genre. People would probably say they're mostly hiphop/dance, but then they'd miss out on their amazing slow/pop songs and their light and fun party song 😉 Can you feel it, Mr. Nice guy, Danger, bout you, Skeleton/Scary house, Take it slow, Circus, No love and most lately DongHae's California love and Hyukjae's be are just a small example of how very different songs can be. It's one of the several reasons I really love them. They're amazing and talented allaround artists ☺️💙

I don't think D&E has a particular style that is easy to define. They just kind of do whatever they feel like, though they mostly stick to performance tracks. Which makes sense since they are two of the main performers in the group. Though they also do slow tracks sometimes, such as Growing Pains. The other units have a more defined concept. KRY -vocal unit, mostly does ballads M - Mandarin/Chinese pop music T - Trot music H - Happy/bubblegum pop music
