Definitely a drive with a lot of history behind it. It may not have the epic views like Chicago's Lake Shore Drive, but you can't possibly talk about Boston, without making a mention of Storrow Drive. Nice video man!
Great job, you continue to amaze me of how you know how to pick "just the right song" for your projects. I'm been going through all kinds of songs and genres for my pending project and have yet to deceide. When I watch your videos it helps direct me as now I'm just learning to crawl in the art of making the road video.
You can get a nice view of that connector ramp mess from the bottom by taking the Orange Line of the T. There is even a stop in the area before diving under the Charles River.
Thanks for the nice ride. Good to see the fruits of the Big Dig project!!
Storrow Dr in Boston
Thanks, if I recall the toll was $1.25.
Thank you!
Love this! Makes me so homesick. Ty. Boston Rocks! “I love that dirty water... Boston you’re my home.” 🙂
Freewayjim have lived in Brookline, Allston, Brighton and Newton. I’ve always gotten lucky with location; always. 93 there freaks me out a little because I’m not used to driving there. Especially downtown by MGH. Storrow however is faster than Beacon or Comm for me and I always know where I am and which exit is next. Always (after Covid) check the free Hatch Shell concert schedule ahead of time to keep yourself sane. You know that but many don’t. Take the Pike during the Marathon. Best to you and everyone! 🍀617🍀
@@soulsurfer5531 I don't know any of that, I live in Atlanta :). Thanks just the same.
Freewayjim Congrats on passing our obstacle course with flying colors! Best of everything...
@@soulsurfer5531 Thanks, I am a native New Englander BTW, my family left NH in 1977 to move south.
Never been to Boston so I'm enjoying these tours.
When I search "Storrow Drive" the first suggested result I get is "Storrow Drive truck compilation". So it's one of those roads... reminds me of the 11'8" bridge (now 12'4") closer to home in Durham. Great video.
i never new that that used to be tolls there
Thank you, it's just a "feel" and I have a wide range of musical tastes to draw from.
This brings back fond memories. I posted an ad for a friend who was an international student. he was selling iirc a mitsubishi 3000gt in '96. He was wealthy already. he got a brand new BMW M3 right after. I was the first he took out for some lunch and a cruise down that storrow drive. there wasn't much traffic so he gunned it a 90+ I'll never forget that thrill.
Thanks!
LOL Jim, I was waiting for you to play this song for one of your Boston vids! Great job, as usual!
Great tune. I'm a huge huge Red Sox Fan. BRUINS FAN also. I've got BOSTON in my blood. Hats off to the mighty 617. I love that Dirty Water. Freeway Jim, keep it going.
as a truck driver, I HATE Storrow Drive.. the GPS loves that street, and trucks aint allowed on it.. it makes a truck driver a basket case by the time the run is over..
In Florida now, I biked alongside Storrow Dr, lots of ducks.
I may be heading back to MA for family but anyone seeking a New England
tour guide, lemme know!
Fitting song!
Awesome vid- nice song, went well with it and nice road!!! Wow. You never seem to stop amazing me with your vids. I wonder- did you drive past Fenway and the Green Monster- I ask only as a fan of baseball and the old ballparks. Thanks for making my day!
Nice video and nice song. That's an interesting stretch of road. So what was that toll to get back on the pike for those last few miles? I would think a lot of people would ditch it for eastbound Storrow.
And speaking of I 90 Even though it is a toll road in Massachusetts, not all exits are tolled.
No, the next video is I-90 East to I-93 North, back to the city and then through the Callahan Tunnel.
Calm Down, I have limited time in these cities, I film what I consider to be of interest, plus Storrow drive was part of the route I took to film other things, I'd have driven it regardless. The Bronx River Parkway does not move my meter, I don't care if it was the first paved road in the history of the world. If I had many days to spend in NYC then I'd probably fim it but it is just not a priority for me.
Yes, I give a brief history of it at 6:40 of the Boston Street Tour Video.
Thanks, yes I knew that about the Bruins.
Thank you for watching!
Worth a weekend trip :)
Thanks for watching, the next two videos will show you even more fruits from the Big Dig.
I actually agree that the guy wrote "Dirty Water" sounds just A LITTLE BIT like Vince Neil.
I don't think the guy who sings "Dirty Water" sounds like Vince Neil at all and "You're Invited" is way too fast a tempo for this footage.
2:42 Note the famous B. U. Bridge. This is the only bridge in Mass to have this at the same time; boats going under a train going under cars going under an airplane (what else could I say?)
Nice video! I wonder what's next. :)
0:58 Mass residents like me call it the Leverett Connector. This gets backed up during rush hour, I tell you!
1:10 This spot was a photo in your recent Freewayjim challenge I got the question right in. Though I should've said "Leverett Connector. . ."
1:55 Here's something weird; the Eastbound side gets a small tunnel, yet the Westbound side doesn't!?
for us lyft and uber drivers when we get stuck there in rush hour we be like “ well poop should have taken the next exit”
whats the building at 1:50
+Brandon Gabriel That building in front of you is The John Hancock Building designed by I.M. Pei. also right after that was The Prudential Building which serves as the second tallest building in Boston and on the fiftieth floor you can get tremendous views of the city from that point.
+Steven Fanale
so the rectangular building at 1:53 is the John Hancock Tower and the building at the far right at 1:56 is the Prudential Building
I have checked again and yes at 1:53 is the John Hancock Tower and the building behind the bridge is the Prudential Building. Hope that clarifies it up. Steven
P.S. If you ever come to Boston walk Storrow Drive its a great place to walk. I have done it many times and I thoroughly enjoy it especially on a cool morning. Steven
Where is the sign that says cars only its black and orange
THIS DOES NOT HELP MY URGE TO MOVE TO NE!!!! UGH I'M SUFFERING IN OHIO!!
*dances with the song*
Toby
Bruins win song lol
Thank you!
Thank you!
You filmed this in '06, Jim? Man, that's ancient! The Turnpike is all-electronic now; they don't have toll plazas on it anymore.
