I think they look great! The red look is just so vanilla. One thing i always loved about the original nes games was you could easily see a game and identify it. If you're an old school gamer, it would also invoke a memory of playing these as a kid.
Wow! I made a few of my own, but between these and the gentleman who makes manuals for switch games really makes the console feel more complete. The red gets old over time
I actually like the way the original spines look on the shelf. I think they look sharp, even if it is more difficult to find the game you're looking for unless they're alphabetized. Cool idea though! The inserts look awesome as well
Same, but id prefer it if it was just a red background with a custom game logo, some switch games have it like Minecraft but the majority sadly dont, some wii u and 3ds games also have boring spines too
Personally I love the weird variety of game case spines, the switch is red, wii is white, Wii U had the little blue lip at the top, Xbox one was mostly just gray.
I’m happy to say that I received a couple games from your Whatnot Switch sale. I can’t wait to order these for my small Switch collection. I also realized I can use these even if I have sealed games by buying the plastic case protector for them as well. Great short video to really take the Switch collection to the next level.
Never knew about these , I don't have the best eye sight so I hate having to walk all the way up and press my face up to my switch games to see which one is which, these are fantastic and I'm deffinetly going to look into them
Also, a good idea could be to cut the custom spine longer than the game case so you can fold it back on top and on the bottom of the cover. That way it will definitely not move no matter how much you open the case.
This is how all switch games should’ve looked by default. I don’t keep my switch games on my shelf because of how plain/hard to easily find games are when they all blend together (even alphabetized like the rest of my collection). I just use a cartridge case for all of them and then put the original box and art in a drawer
I honestly wish the normal switch spines looked like that, it takes ages for me to look through all my games to find the right case cause they all look the same, but with this, each one has significant differences, way easier to read.
I think i'm in the minority because I really like the original spines, same with the PAL PS2 spines. If a shelf looks too visually busy i find it hard to find specific games unless the visual style of the spine + logo is ingrained in your mind. On the other hand I can see how some prefer being able to identify a game based on that visual style and logo rather than having to basically read every spine. Two types of people I guess. lol
I might just try this. I find it kind of jarring how some games have the title label in the middle of the spine (I think those are for the EU versions?), while others have it at the upper part. Maybe this way all of my spines will be in an orderly chaotic fashion lol
I like the small red Boxes and the little cardridges, too bad that they don't make booklets or world maps anymore.. To buy and collect great games should be like collecting little treasure chests!
Honestly while I love that games had their actual logos or whatever design for other systems ... I prefer Switch being a stock standard just title and possibly company logo/name at the bottom. Actually makes it feel less cluttered and stuff. These spines make it seem really over the top and visual overload for me...
Oh hey, Im actually one of the designers in that subreddit! I havent done that many, but if there are ever any games you need spines for, you can request it on the sub or even send me a message, ill be happy to make them for you.
The worst ones here are definitely PS2, No matter how many games you have for it in europe the shelf will look bland, i put them at the bottom of my shelves for that reason only, Xbox and Gamecube look so much better.
Nailed it! You are correct it would’ve been so much better if they would’ve came with custom artwork on every box from the factory. Liquor is Satan‘s piss. Thank God I quit alcohol forever, Huberman for President 💫
Actually I would 100% prefer the "plain red" spines over the custom ones if the game tites would all be starting at the same spot, instead of having some of them being centered. This annoys me even more than the plain red spine. I'd maybe make myself custom plain red spines with perfectly aligned titles. xD
The process is actually super simple Me: Oh cool Because literally all you need are these Nintendo Switch replacement spine inserts Me: .... Dammit But that's only because I'm from the UK. If you're from the US, you literally have everything. Like those DIY tutorials, where it says "Installing this is super easy. All you need is a spinning lathe, which you can get from your local hardware store for just a few billion dollars" ..... oh and, a lot of US tutorials are long, because Americans like words.... for example. British people will say "You will need to...", that's 4 words. Americans will say "OK, what you're gonna wanna do next, is you're gonna wanna go head and...", that's 13.
Amazing. Is this for ps4 and ps5? There really are one or more that I don't like. Horizon seems incredible to me but for example Elden Ring seems very bland to me
Man, I dont know... to me it kinda feels like "having a non-official/fake game" vibes when I look at it at the shelf. I preffer keeping the original nintendo red spine. Maybe if the background was red and they added just the game logo on top...
They are the worst spines in history. It’s not that they’re plain, the DS was plain but it’s the fact from a short distance you can barely make out the writing, the white just merges into the bright red. I liked the 3DS and Wii U spines, simple (yet readable) but also I loved the little boxed image they added.
Where’s the upgrade? Ok, no, I mean, I din’t like it, but that doesn’t mean nobody does. If you prefer it, that’s great! Also, the Video quality itself is amazing!
THIS is how they should have been from the start, looks absolutely amazing!
I think they look great! The red look is just so vanilla. One thing i always loved about the original nes games was you could easily see a game and identify it.
If you're an old school gamer, it would also invoke a memory of playing these as a kid.
I for one don't hate the red spines, but I gotta say the replament ones do look dope!
Wow! I made a few of my own, but between these and the gentleman who makes manuals for switch games really makes the console feel more complete. The red gets old over time
glad you like it. I personally like the red spines. Makes it more uniform and less garish
I actually like the way the original spines look on the shelf. I think they look sharp, even if it is more difficult to find the game you're looking for unless they're alphabetized. Cool idea though! The inserts look awesome as well
Yup I feel the same as well
Same, but id prefer it if it was just a red background with a custom game logo, some switch games have it like Minecraft but the majority sadly dont, some wii u and 3ds games also have boring spines too
All my games for all my consoles are alphabetized... My OCD in me can't help it xD
Plus it actually is easier to locate a game.
I'm definitely going to do this. I was hesitant at the idea, when you first brought up the idea in last week's video, but these are so cool!
Personally I love the weird variety of game case spines, the switch is red, wii is white, Wii U had the little blue lip at the top, Xbox one was mostly just gray.
to each there own. The standard nintendo switch spines are what got me lol. Everything looks uniform.
Same these look too messy for my taste
This is a awesome idea it would make looking for a particular game so much easier
You are the real MVP! I always tought about that!!!
I actually like the uniform look on the shelf
I’m happy to say that I received a couple games from your Whatnot Switch sale. I can’t wait to order these for my small Switch collection. I also realized I can use these even if I have sealed games by buying the plastic case protector for them as well. Great short video to really take the Switch collection to the next level.
To each their own. I think the red spines look better tbh
That's a cool idea, but I love the red spines. They are very iconic.
I never really thought about it, but now it's gonna bother me! This is actually a really cool idea!
That's pretty cool, me myself I don't mind the plain spines so I'll probably just keep my collection that way
Idk, I really like the clean red look of a Switch game shelf. They're probably my favorite game boxes
Alternative Title: How to make your game collection look 3x more expensive
This is how all switch games should’ve looked by default. I don’t keep my switch games on my shelf because of how plain/hard to easily find games are when they all blend together (even alphabetized like the rest of my collection). I just use a cartridge case for all of them and then put the original box and art in a drawer
I love the fact that you have a whole shelf just for Pooh
havent seen many own eastward as much. rlly love the game
Weird…I love the uniform switch spines on the shelf
such a cool idea
I honestly wish the normal switch spines looked like that, it takes ages for me to look through all my games to find the right case cause they all look the same, but with this, each one has significant differences, way easier to read.
The red spine + standardized font is my favorite thing about keeping Switch games together lol
Okay okay, I smell what you’re stepping in! I was thinking too much work but DANG that is worth it!!!
That's cool, but I honestly prefer the uniformity of the default spine. Plus, I find them much easier to read.
New spines look great. Thanks for the providing the link.
The nerve of Nintendo not doing this at the start
Anyone else remember VGBoxarts? I use to always go there for alternate boxarts of PS3 games since Sony always changed the way the boxes looked.
Just looks better having it all red
A lot of people had the same issue with no N64 cartridge spines; those they also bought separately.
Nice job man looks great especially with Mario logos there awesome I absolutely love it
Dang, this is really cool!
*Meanwhile me, who doesn't even have a shelf to put my Switch game in:*
Well... whatever xD
DS HeartGold SoulSilver just sitting there like book ends. You got game.
Two types of people I guess. lol
Ew
I did this to my games 2 years ago, never looked back
I might just try this. I find it kind of jarring how some games have the title label in the middle of the spine (I think those are for the EU versions?), while others have it at the upper part. Maybe this way all of my spines will be in an orderly chaotic fashion lol
Definitely good idea definitely will need to so that it’s awesome
@BeatEmUps you need to do this with your collection
I like the small red Boxes and the little cardridges, too bad that they don't make booklets or world maps anymore..
To buy and collect great games should be like collecting little treasure chests!
Honestly while I love that games had their actual logos or whatever design for other systems ... I prefer Switch being a stock standard just title and possibly company logo/name at the bottom.
Actually makes it feel less cluttered and stuff. These spines make it seem really over the top and visual overload for me...
that HG/SS is the killer @.@
Oh hey, Im actually one of the designers in that subreddit! I havent done that many, but if there are ever any games you need spines for, you can request it on the sub or even send me a message, ill be happy to make them for you.
These look great man! Here in Australia, we're used to boring, blank spines. PAL games have been blank for years :(
The worst ones here are definitely PS2, No matter how many games you have for it in europe the shelf will look bland, i put them at the bottom of my shelves for that reason only, Xbox and Gamecube look so much better.
Oh boi, that's slick!
Nintendo will take your home for making these and selling them. Awesome concept though! Will buy while I can >_
Nailed it!
You are correct it would’ve been so much better if they would’ve came with custom artwork on every box from the factory.
Liquor is Satan‘s piss.
Thank God I quit alcohol forever, Huberman for President 💫
I dont know... I like the red and it makes it easy to find a game in a stack
Says going to put Link in description and no link
Just a mistake probably my guy and he said if he remembered to
BelmontsSwitchPrints on Etsy
Yeah, and youve never forgot to do something lil
www.etsy.com/shop/BelmontsSwitchPrints
No Link? What about Zelda? 😝
Actually I would 100% prefer the "plain red" spines over the custom ones if the game tites would all be starting at the same spot, instead of having some of them being centered. This annoys me even more than the plain red spine. I'd maybe make myself custom plain red spines with perfectly aligned titles. xD
Cool idea but not gonna bother when I have almost 400 switch games. Maybe if I started at the beginning with it.
The ones you made gave my eyes a panic attack
Looks soo gooood
You should start a new series whole switch collection ❤
Damnit I keep forgetting this isn't a parody channel.
Wish there was someone that did this for ps5 games
You could use a glue stick to keep it in place
What type of paper is recommended for printing?
Cool story bro!!
Can you get a custom spine for games that you preorder?
Ah yes, I want this so much. The spines are just so bad
We get it. You got a CIB heartgold AND soulsilver. Calm down Caleb
what is the length and width of the original spine, trying to figure this out so I can get the right dimensions
It looks really good but tbh I'd rather just keep the original design as I'm more of a purist. Cool idea tho
The cheapest way is to turn the Cover inside out.
Its for Free and looks good !!!
Dont waste money guys
1:34 what costs over 5 grand on the top right?
profit for the month of september
Well at least the Etsy person lives near me
The thing that i don't like is the fact that the Nintendo part doesn't line up with the logo in the front
The shop is closed again? That’s too bad
Thankz
That's why physical games are better than digital
i collect PAL ps2 games, i think youd flip if you saw how white my collection looked on the spines lol
What I don't like is how the Nintendo switch case is are long when the title DS cases were shorter can they do something different so they're not long
The process is actually super simple
Me: Oh cool
Because literally all you need are these Nintendo Switch replacement spine inserts
Me: .... Dammit
But that's only because I'm from the UK. If you're from the US, you literally have everything. Like those DIY tutorials, where it says "Installing this is super easy. A dollar for a peice 🥵
That’s really cool, but I don’t want to buy 25 of them. I only have like 8 switch games lol
Amazing. Is this for ps4 and ps5? There really are one or more that I don't like.
Horizon seems incredible to me but for example Elden Ring seems very bland to me
My OCD: hell no, nope, no no no no
I’d like it if it was similar to Microsoft’s solution. Having extra art in addition to the logos just makes it way, way too messy.
Let me guess, you get the custom spines in South Korea? :P
You didnt put the link in the description
www.etsy.com/shop/BelmontsSwitchPrints
Man, I dont know... to me it kinda feels like "having a non-official/fake game" vibes when I look at it at the shelf. I preffer keeping the original nintendo red spine. Maybe if the background was red and they added just the game logo on top...
On today's episode on
"Inventions Made Because ___ Won't"
:
OMG... I hate you. I absolutely HAVE to do this but I have like 300 switch games, this is going to take me forever, lol
That’s costly? Dude, it’s only 25 cents a page to print at the library if that’s what you’re meaning.
They are the worst spines in history. It’s not that they’re plain, the DS was plain but it’s the fact from a short distance you can barely make out the writing, the white just merges into the bright red.
I liked the 3DS and Wii U spines, simple (yet readable) but also I loved the little boxed image they added.
I just turn my game cases inside out lol
*insert crying because no splatoon 3 ones*
It doesn't have one for S3, because you can put its cover inside-out, and it will have a better art
i have a total of 5 physical switch games and 68 switch games and 24 of them are made by nintendo
😍
Where’s the upgrade?
Ok, no, I mean, I din’t like it, but that doesn’t mean nobody does. If you prefer it, that’s great!
Also, the Video quality itself is amazing!
this ain't even first world problems, it's 0th world problems
Um....what gives? Where's the link?
www.etsy.com/shop/BelmontsSwitchPrints
Jesus you think they would get the color right for 25$ Gonna print these for sure. cant stand that red not matching
i'm not paying 30 bucks for some paper
