Not long after Flip Wilson died, his daughter said she felt her father’s presence very strongly one night. So strongly she woke up suddenly. She felt he was warning her of danger. Someone had just broken into her home and she woke up in time. Love never dies. He saved her life.
So Do I. Ah.. Such Wonderful Memories. And The Great Thing About That Was WE WATCHED IT WITH OUR FAMILY. I Miss Those Days, Y'all. A New Generation Can Enjoy These Wonderful Shows Through The Magic Of Reruns. It's Awesome.
Me too. I remember watching these shows when I was about 6 or 7. My family also had his LP of his classic comedy routines from his tv show. Shaped so much of my appreciation for comedic genius and timing.
Funny you should say that. I was about 6-10 when this aired. I adored the Geraldine sketches! Of course, he didn’t do it every week. I would be so upset if “she” wasn’t on that night. I recognized the sketches as being brilliant, even though I was a small child. I think your verbiage is totally correct-history in the making!
You are correct...thats my mother Falumi Prince. I can't thank you enough for posting this..I've been looking for this for years. Thank you, with tears in my eyes.
It just makes me feel good to see Flip Wilson as Geraldine. She is so upbeat, cute, 'fast' and silly lol. On the nights this show came in, I would miss a date if it meant missing The Flip Wilson show once rated the most popular television show ever. My sister took me to see him at our Theater when I was a child...totally hilarious and clean enough for a child to see. RIP Mr. Genius.
Such a great version of Harry Nilsson's 'Coconut'. I remember watching this first-run with mama and daddy. I can still hear all of us ,laughing til our sides ached. Flip always did that to us RIP, mama and daddy. RIP, Flip. I miss you all, and thank you, all, so so very very much, for the magic, music, and memories.
Blame low ratings due to a lack of interest among today's TV viewing audience. Sadly, nowadays a primetime TV variety show featuring the talent of today's celebrities in various skits like _The Flip Wilson Show,_ (and many others from the same time period) wouldn't last more than a season.😞
Omg this skit is hilarious. I watch it over and over, cracking up every time. R.I.P. to Flip Wilson, Harry Belafonte, Avery Schneider, and Odetta Holmes (aka Odetta).
The funny thing about Geraldine is that she had such a big personality I would always forget that she was really Flip Wilson. She was adorable and her part of the show was always my favorite. Thanks so much for posting these!
Same... I wonder if Jamie Fox used a bit of Flips character for his Ugly Wanda?? Lol Flip was awesome... Miss the 1970s for sure growing up!! Best childhood shows for sure!!
Man, watching Flip on Thursday nights were such great times. This clip with Harry Belafonte, Jack Burns, and the late Avery Schreiber is such a riot. What a great show Flip Wilson hosted every week.
I've always loved it when Flip Wilson did Geraldine. Apparently, my mother did too when she was younger. She told me she used to have a pet rabbit when she was a kid, and she named it Geraldine after Flip Wilson. And it turned out the rabbit was a boy.
On broadway the people have technical talent, but no personality or presence. Plus i5 has become children’s theater aimed at fleecing tourists and families.

I don't know what possessed me to watch this but I'm literally in tears🤣🤣🤣 I had to have been like 5 years old then, all I remember is Flip Wilson was hilarious. What an epic character and great comedian
I remember watching this as a kid. There was a popular song on the radio whose lyrics were, put the lime in the coconut! Brings back so many memories. Mom loved Flip Wilson and adored Harry Belafonte. RIP Pauline Burton.
Agree agree! Classic dialogue, costumes and really funny meeting of an infatuated American seeing the beauty of the Caribbean. Personified of course by two talented legends. Did you hear her say “ you ain’t that good on the drum unless you get Budd Rich” hahaha
Thanks for posting!! I Love Flip Wilson And Miss Geraldine Jones!! As Flip he is a Very Attractive Man and as Geraldine he was a very Attractive Lady 🕊️❤️🕊️ ⭐
When I was young my parents for Christmas gave me the flip wilson doll, one side was Flip and the other side Geraldine when you pulled the string it would say the "devil made me do it", etc.. fun times!!😂🤣
Flip Wilson was a great comedian but he was a genius in making the character Geraldine. He was so good at it that one believed she had her own separate existence.
OMG He was so funny. I am so glad that I can watch his tv show on line. Geraldine certainly had on her dancing shoes. She must have had a Paton put on her dancing. What a fun and entertaining show to watch back then and in 2019. RIP Flip Wilson 💝
Loved this show, such talent. I also miss these types of quality TV series. Lime in the coconut song is in my iTunes playlist and I sang it to my grandson.......he sang it all the way back home up the east coast.
I remember watching this on tv years ago and I have been looking everywhere for it ever since. Thanks so much for uploading this! Flip Wilson is too funny!
Flip was amazing, funny, nice, and so in the 'time'... I applaud HARRY, FOR his sense of humor............we were so innocent, it was a great time......thanks for all.
I remember seeing this episode as a young kid - around 1971? They were mocking the novelty song "Put The Lime In The Coconut" song that came at that time. hehe.. good memories from Ridgewood NYC NY! :)
Damn, that was funny. I left from beginning to end, that in a little chorus was too good. Remember watching this in my childhood with my family, miss those days when TV was actually entertaining. Great video thanks for the upload.

The good old days! So glad this was my exposure to comedy in the 70's. I was a kid but I knew this was history in the making.
Strange how that happens. I felt exactly the same way, watching this as a kid.

Magic. Two greats, there'll never be another like either of them.
How I missed these times. To Flip Wilson's and Harry's family, be blessed. Thanks for giving them to us.
AMEN 🕊️❤️🕊️⭐⭐
Hard to believe that Flip's been gone over 20 years. Harry's still with us at 92!
Jack Burns is still here too.
There are some great clips here as well of Avery Schreiber with Jack. He's been gone since '02.
Agree. Amazing. 📺🎬📽️🎶🎵
He's got some good genes combined with excellent self care.
I guess putting the lime in the coconut and drinking them right up contributed to his long life. LOL.
Was blessed to see Flip,s show in Vegas. He is one of a kind.
Such a great version of Harry Nilsson's 'Coconut'.

My 80 year old mother loves singing and dancing to this silly song... I love it. When times were more innocent.
This lime in the coconut song made me never to try that cocktail from childhood.
My sister and I did the same with with "Coconut" when we were little. I love that song!
How were times more innocent??? Lol. No difference.
Its so sad things have gotten so trashy. I saw a woman today going into grocery store; I whispered to myself, "When did women stop wearing clothes?".
One of my favorites Flip Wilson episode with Harry Belafonte! Rest in peace Mr. Harry Belafonte!
Geraldine's most famous line, "The Devil Made me Do It!" Hilariousness.
"What You See...Is What You Get!"😁😂😍
Flip is the only man dressed as a woman for humour trope that has aged well. Geraldine is fabulous
