    You fix small repairs as they occur. You don't ignore them for 9 years and say, "Oh well. That's just age." Noooo, that's just ignoring little repairs for 9 years.

  • @Georgeqaws
    @Georgeqaws 7 років тому +84

    lol. Your car is in good condition. 9 years is not that old for a car. Most of what you complain about is is a lack of maintenance.

      noctanol Jealous? Of a Dodge??? Haha. You clearly haven't compared their quality to comparable manufacturers such as Ford or even GM. Chrysler products have always been notorious for being of extremely poor quality. And for your information, I don't drive a Honda shitbox. I've got a V8 ;)

    • @FenixDelta753
      @FenixDelta753 7 років тому

      Who was talking about features dude? We're talking about things that matter such as mechanical longevity and durability. And how appropriate that you drive a 300 and are talking shit online calling me jealous. Check this out www.consumerreports.org/car-reliability/car-brands-reliability-how-they-stack-up/ The ONLY manufacturer that dodge or chrysler beats (other than its Jeep brand) is Fiat, which they also own. So according to this, I'm right. I own an old police car so my car is just as obnoxious as yours i suppose.

    Random ! Good Job on the 9-year review of the Black Beast. Mine is a 2008 SRT8 and has 95,000 on the original 6.1 HEMI.95% of what you pointed out on your Charger is what mine is doing as well. I feel your pain Bro, LOL. But hey, in the same breath, Before the SRT8, I had a 2002 BMW M3 that was doing all kinds of breaking down ($12K worth of broken stuff over the life of the car) and A-Pillar cloth falling off and Rubber Door trim inside falling off, etc. etc. That's why I went over to the Dark Side MOPAR baby! I scored my One-Owner, SRT8 for $28K at 6,500 original miles in 2013. I love my car and she's not going until she gives up the ghost on me. On the road is where the SRT8 belongs! 2006-2010 were the best looking years of the "NEW" 4-door Charger, IMO.

    Good chance your car was wrecked , the hood misalignment , the different color sidemarkers and the clear peeling could be poor quality clearcoat used for the repair. All signs of body repair being done. The reason the rubber dash is rolling up is the heat from the heater duct blowing out from the poor quality foam strip they used to seal the vent to the duct just 4 inches back of the vent. break popsicle stiçks into 3 pieces, run a butter knife in between the rubber about 2 inches Deep where it's curling and pry up enough to wedge the sticks in the gap on their sides. Then coat both surfaces with contact cement and wait till the cement is dry to the touch, pull the sticks out and push down hard to bond the surfaces together. Then use 3/4" masking tape to pull the rubber down tight and back onto a clean surface in the dash and leave for 16 hours before removing the tape. It's real important that the glue dries before sticking the surfaces together. Then replace the foam gaskets on the vents with good quality weatherstrip and glue the same way to prevent this from happening again.

  • @SRTMUSH
    @SRTMUSH 7 років тому +24

    A little spray glue will help the headliner there.
    Have you tried adjusting the hinges on the hood?
    You could try some glue as well on the center dash part thats coming up. There is a plastic frame behind it that it attaches to.
    The trim around the shifter, has little tabs, previous owner must have broken them off removing it.
    The fog lights are terrible on them. You can get cheap aftermarket replacements from Rock Auto, get the cheap ones because they always break regardless!

      Headliner is caused by it being a black car in a place with a hot climate. Up here in NY, you can pick out an old southern car easily by their headliner flapping in the wind in the rear window.

    Have an '06 SRT8 that still runs fantastic. No mechanical issues whatsoever. Cosmetically, the car's driver's side dash vent has popped loose and for some reason will not fit back into place, and lately, the stereo unit likes to act up, going blank screen on me from time to time. The car is still under an extended warranty, but with a $250 deductible, so the debate is whether to pay the deductible and get the stock stereo replaced and keep the stock appearance, or get a newer updated stereo installed for nearly the same price? ....Hmm?? The car only has 88k miles, so it's driven very moderately, and I don't have a tendency to stomp the gas in it. I just like to cruise around town in it like a grandpa for some odd reason?? But all the power is there when I want it. I also get a ton of compliments. People don't realize it's as old as it is. It's black, but I added red "Super Bee" vinyls all around, so it's got a black and red appearance, which is unusual, because the Super Bee's didn't come in a black & red color combo. (They should have, ...it looks dope) I also added a "front lip spoiler" to the bottom of the front fascia, that gives it an extra menacing appearance from the front. Car is a lot of fun to drive and experience. Sounds incredible, feels incredible. A real Dodge supercar! Peace!!!

    Your clear side marker is on the side with the gap in the hood and quarter panel. So obviously it's been wrecked and wasn't repaired correctly, and didn't use OEM sidemarker

    The clear vinyl protection from dealer isn't hard to remove, but best done by a pro, and then replaced. The wrap front scratches would be in paint if not for that protection.

  • @WingZero1181

    Not sure if anyone addressed the clear bra removal, but if you want to try, you can pick up a bottle of road tar remover (body shops call it wax and grease remover) or goo-off (industrial strength) spray liberally along the edges, let it sit for about a minute or two, and use a plastic card or hard rubber mini squeegee and work the edge up off the body. Keep in mind, use this in a well ventilated area and in the shade. The orange industrial goo-off stuff works best, one trick is to spray heavily on the clear bra and use a garbage bag to cover the whole clear bra. Give it a few minutes and it should come off with a rubber squeegee. If it still won't come out, hit up a pro vinyl wrap shop, they should be able to get it off for a decent price.

    The headliner and dash pad issues are likely a product of a black car baking in the Florida sun. They're all glued on, and likely baked off. The gear shifter trim piece clips in, so someone at some point pulled the trim piece off, and broke the tabs on it.
    The hood misalignment may not be abnormal. The hood is attached too the rest of the car by two rotating hinges, so over the years, it's no surprise the hinges loosen a bit, and create a misalignment. The other things seem to be general wear and tear.

    Loose headliner: Fords of 15 to 20 years ago had the same issue. Their glue was not strong enough. Get the liquid rubber cement with the brush attached to the cap & use just enough to stick the headliner back on. This might also help with your dashboard issue.
    BTW TURN THOSE FRAKKIN "FOG" LIGHTS OFF!

  • @D4LM4R

    I think the reason the hood isn't aligned with the quarter-panel is because the car was involved in an accident, and wasn't reported, and poorly fixed, another hint is the different looking side-marker on the side that took the damage. Other than that, you just need a glue and new original paint, and if the HEMI still kicking you got no other worries. enjoy.

    Hi dude, nice car. The clear wrap in the front is probably a rock chip protector for highway driving. Can probably get new one installed @ a wrap or car detailing place, or dealer if u wanna pay dealer price. The trim around the shifter is supposed to be held in with metal tabs underneath. If u get the shifter stuck in park one day, u will have to remove that trim to fix it (can Google this, broken pink shifter piece). The hood can be realigned @ body shop or by yourself. Screws on hinges & maybe height adjustment on round rubber piece that hood sits on (fender alignment can also be adjusted to match hood lines). U might wanna cover the fog light housing until u install new fogs in that empty housing. Moisture & debris might shorten the new bulb's life, just saying. Wish I could afford the SRT8's. Happy driving, man.

    Those clear bras are a bitch to remove! They put them on to avoid rock damage but over time they do start to look like shit. I used a heat gun and 3m remover and it works pretty well but it gets too hot it breaks if it's too cool it breaks so it's a long process! It was really rewarding when it was all done and said because it revealed all the flawless paint! Great car btw...I have the exact same one and some of the same problems.

      don198769 I had a 1988 Dodge W-250 that lasted me over 400,000 miles. I ended up scrapping it, because the body was rotting off.
      I have a 1985 D-150, with over 200,000 miles on it. I had a 2005 Dodge Dakota with 160,000 miles when I sold it. My father has a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500, with over 300,000. My old 2007 Jeep Compass that my cousin now owns, currently has over 180,000 miles.
      What say you?

      @marcl637 7 років тому

      but are they still like new condition? in my car nothing is falling apart no fog lights ar placed stupid af, and i think why german cars are sold all around the globe and american cars are only in america realy successfull

    • @novaman3509
      @novaman3509 7 років тому +2

      Marc L My 1988 was not in perfect condition, because I beat the hell out of it. I used it for work (I was a landscaper at the time) so I was hauling tree trunks, dirt, mulch, rocks, pavers you name it, in the bed of the truck.
      I also towed a 20' long trailer of all steel construction, filled with lawn mowers, leaf blowers, weed whackers, chain saws and a wide variety of hand tools.
      In the winter, I would tow 3 of my buddies snowmobiles (and mine) over 900 miles one-way to up state NY to ride the trails.
      So no. The truck was not in good shape. It was a work truck and a toy (snowmobiles, quads, dirtbikes) hauler for 30 years.
      My 1985 is in mint condition, even with a hot rodded engine. These old trucks are so simplistic, there's not a lot to break. The interior is LITTERALY a bench seat, a dashboard and a steering wheels. That's it.
      My father's 2500 is relatively beat up as well, because he also uses it for landscaping and hauling.
      My old (now my cousin's) Jeep Compass is perfectly fine. Not a single thing wrong with it.

      we own 2 vws, a 05 transporter and a 08 passat r36
      the transporter is the work car of my father, it has run 375000 km so far we only had to change the exaust to get it over the tüv , and the standart service of cours, and still everything is fine.
      the passat untill now had no problem at all with 250000 km driven. you cant do that wit a us car from that time, and not with that quality. in us cars much of the interior is made of cheap plastic (a friend of mine owned a jeep and he said it wasnt comparable to any german suv)
