Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I've attended this event almost every year for the last 12 years. Last years event was a good one too.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for bringing me home for alittle while. Great job!
Any time!
I didn't know they still held that. Love the costumes.

Good to see you maintained the 66 feet of distance for the couf. Really allowed some detail shots at walking speed. Lol.
Always fun to get together.
Thanks for sharing. I've always wanted to visit that rendezvous but I'm always chasing elk with my bow that weekend.
It’s quite the event, but I understand the importance of the hunt!
THanks for sharing. I had to miss it this year but I'll be there next year!
Glad I found your channel where can I find more info on these gatherings?
Rendezvous happen all over during the summer. What area do you live in
My Greatx4 Grandfather was Uncle Jack Robertson, never missed a one back in the day of the real ones....Buried at Carter Cemetery inside Ft Bridger,so he is still going to this one
I have relatives that live in Robertson Wy
I go every year to but i missed since 2020 because of the pandemic hope I’ll be back soon
Ok, Clay. I'll be the guy. What is that headgear you are wearing?
It’s called a wolf eared cap. It’s a copy of the original style worn by trappers of the fur trade. Allowed the trappers to get close to buffalo while hunting. The fur caps with the animals face’s on them sold at modern rendezvous are a “Hollywood” version taken from old sketches and paintings. These are simple rectangles sewn together made of wool, or leather, that look like ears when worn.
the whole band is close family friends
I'm in love
It is a cool event
What is the style of hat you’re wearing any open
It’s called a wolf eared cap. It was shown in a few Alfred Jacob Miller paintings. It is actually rectangular, but when worn it resembles ears. The trappers could get closer to the buffalo while hunting, plus they are easy to make, out of scraps of whatever material is on hand. A lot of modern mountain men wear a fur hat with the animals face, and claws on it, but the simple cloth one is the correct pattern and style.
Where is fort Bridger? And where do you live in relationship to that event?
Fort Bridger is in the town of Fort Bridger, in Uinta County Wyoming, in the South West corner of the state. I live in Evanston, about 30 or so miles away
My Great x4 Grandfather was with the Rocky Mtn and American Fur Companys.....He is buried in Carter Cemetery inside Ft Bridger with Judge Carter and Jim Bridgers Grandaughter,I live in Lander Wyoming we have been in Wyoming since 1826
