I think that by using overly large terrain pieces, granted a huge advantage to the Sylvaneth. It would have been a much different game if you used the terrain meant for Spearhead out of the box.
@@SeasonofWar You could get a 40mm base or smaller, put some terrain on it, scatter a couple on the board. Have them not effect LOS or movement. When units move by/thru the terrain can be moved. It's position on the board is unimportant, as it's strictly for aesthetic reasons so the board will look less sparse.
that was a really close game! glad to see that the sylvaneth teleporting still functions well in this edition, and honestly, it's good that strike and fade isn't a risk-free proposition for sylvaneth any more (which always felt rather rude to do) :p
The teleporting is fine in Spearhead but in the actual game it’s *wholly* within 6” of a tree which is so small. For instance the first teleport Jordan did wouldn’t have worked in real AoS4 for example.
There's been a fair bit of doom and gloom over the changes in the main game among Sylvaneth commentators I've read, but it seems very strong here though it works a bit differently. My concern with the main game is not in the risk - it seems that there's a lot of pillow-fighting this edition, and even last edition the concern with committing units that could be punched back was more that they'd be crippled by bracketing or losing a third or more of their models rather than because it was likely they could be cleared in one hit in a fight that they themselves picked. It's in the difficulty of setting up a strike and fade bubble when it has a 6" range and the unit using it needs to both be wholly within 6" of a Wyldwood and in combat. With only 3 natural Wyldwoods, that could be very hard to pull off unless you either are, or are in combat alongside, the Lady of Vines.
Hey did you say in the video that the strike and fade happens after the scoring for the turn? I may have misheard but if it does you need to review the scoring for this game because I think the other guy wins.
I was hoping Sylvaneth would win as they're my army, but wasn't optimistic especially as Gitz seem strong. But with so many games where whoever pins the other side in place first dictating the outcome, Sylvaneth being impossible to pin is hugely more important than I realised - I had this Spearhead as likely only a little better than Seraphon, but it seems genuinely strong for all that it's hard for the Kurnoth Hunters to stay out of trouble long enough to deal as much damage as comparable units from other boxes. And by now I should have learned to vote for whichever army Jordan's playing.
13:12 during this combat, shouldnt the combat be alternating from active to passive player? The hoppers have strike last but the stabbas don't, so I would assume that after the branchwitch fights the stabbas can attack, but instead sylvaneth fought with all their units. I'm quite new to AoS so clarification would be great!
Hey, quick question. The ability "Envoys of the everqueen" on the Kurnorths, does that 6+ ward, effect the Kurnoths themselves or just friendly units helping to contest? The wording says "friendly units".
It's both too large and too numerous. The size and number of pieces in the Skaventide box is what the format was based around, and it's quite likely the ease of being within 3" of terrain made the Sylvaneth more powerful than they will be in 'normal' Spearhead when they won't always be able to use it to teleport between objectives.
I'm really enjoying the Spearhead content fellas, the format may well entice me back to Warhammer. It seems like forces with shooting and good movement are going to do well so Cities, Daughters, Kharadron and Hedonites alongside the Sylvaneth. When you gave Ryan an extra point for the mistake with the Strike & Fade shennanigans did you miss that it happened twice? In round two with the Kurnoth but then again in round three with the Branchwych, Jordan should have one less point as he wouldn't have scored more, only holding two objectives putting the game at a draw... I think, please let me know if I'm wrong, I'm still learning.
@@SeasonofWar Have you guys played some sylvaneth 4.0... just saw the new warscrolls, and tbh im worried :) They seem extremely hard to function as an army now....
Huzzah,, go Go Gitz! Spiderfang all the way. Every loss is still a Win! Great comeback in the End definitely would have been different if the warlord would have survived for sure
So I play sylvaneth and my friend plays gloomspite and we were betting on this game. So Jace if you see this. I WIN LETS GOOOOOOOO!!!!! Gimme my five dollars
Those dice rolls on Sylvaneth were frustratingly insane :-0
My poor Gitz
Gah spoiled it 😭😭
I faced them in a local game. The Treelord is a MONSTER

that's a valid point - I just had having such an empty and bare board, looks so bad :'(

It did make the board very cluttered and very easy to heal off of.
Gotta say those table lights you guys have are so cool, really adds a neat lighting effect to the board
Anyone know what lights they are?
Would love to know too what are those lamps, so cool

Glad to see Ryan is feeling better and up to his normal shenanigans.
he is among the living again, thankfully!
Sylvaneth a super fun to watch with Spearhead, super tricky, seem to have a high skill ceiling! Also those Gitz look amazing :D
Jordan strikes again, those dice rolls were on heat , great battle guys thank you 🙏

I may have said that, but it was incorrect - in editing we ensured the snow was correct.
My favourite battle reports! Thanks for the great content guys

Am I the only one who thinks the terrain is way too big? I feel like it drastically reduces the available space to maneuver.

Can you cast regrowth and verdous harmony at the same turn? I thought you could only use just one hero phase hability

close game!
i cheer for the Fyreslayers!
Too bad Ryan couldn't get that twist turn 1. Looks like he was close.
I desperately wish the Spearhead Sylvaneth army rules were the actual ones. Wholly within 6” is ridiculous.
We look great in Spearhead though.
^^ Seconded.

Love the blue/purple Gitz!
This game felt better with no huge Turn 1 alpha strikes.
Can we get some Tzeentch gameplay? i really want to see how they run after they massacred my boy
Plant kingdom vs Mushroom kingdom let’s go!
Game was close despite so many whiff rolls, need more shrooms to appease Da Bad Moon. 🌙
Let's go gloomspite. I don't know who wins but I hope its goblins
