You didn't mention one point that i find very interesting about society in this era. While Kate was doing everything for her sister, Anthony was following the "law" of never breaking his word, since honour was the most important thing for men and their reputation, to be allowed in society. He was also reminded of that (which was also the way to tell us). Thus once he proposed to Edwina, he couldn't go back, no matter how he feels or what he wants. The only way to leave the commitment was for Edwina to end it herself, which is why it's all up to her on the wedding day. Kate and Anthony's fate is entirely in Edwina's hands, until she finally decides to "release" Anthony. The similar society rule comes back after Anthony finally proposes to Kate, and she says no because she has tge option to just leave to India immediately... She assumes that by default Anthony is proposing because they spent the night together, thus her honour as a lady in society is at risk. Except that she has the option to leave, remain a spinster in India, and Anthony would not be known for defiling an unmarried woman without commitment since no one daw them, so she says no. Of course then it takes a bit longer for them both to communicate their true feelings to each other, which is why they were always supposed to be together in the first place.
I have very little sympathy for Edwina. Kate told her from the get-go to stay away from Anthony. She may have been naive but she was also a bit spoiled and self-centered. Not entirely her fault but she never considered her sister, not once. Not until she had the opportunity with the queen and after Kate’s accident did she think of anyone else’s happiness but her own.
“This man is madly in love , but it’s not with you !” Ouch 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 poor Edwina
I loved them so much but I feel like I didn’t get enough of them. I wanted them to have even more scenes together haha.
We’ll have more of them in Season 4
