That's the shit right there and that's how you do it! Reminds me of my dad back when we lived in Western Massachusetts! The drive way had to be spotless just like how this guy has it!
These rear-mounted snowblowers are very rare on the older John Deere garden tractors.Deere offered rear mounting kits for the 300 series and 400 series tractors, but very few people bought them due to the fact you had to wrench your head around to watch while backing up. Also,if your running ag-tires,tractors don't get near the traction backing up as going forwards,so these rear mounted snow blower kits quietly disappeared from Deeres accessory lineup.
I wish I had my C160 still. I had a Harley Davidson muffler for a stack on it. It was quiet and sounded great. 16 horse power Kohler K-series. Blew the rings plowing and sold it to my buddy cheap cheap.
Does the advantage of having the frt plow, negate the fact you have-ta turn backwards to use the blower? Nice job on the driveway. Nice to have light and fluffy snow. How easily did the rear mounting of the blower go? My 214 has a tiller, and I also have the 37A. Will it work like yours, on the back?
The blade works better for small amounts of snow and for wet snow so it’s my primary tool. I don’t find turning around to run the blower to be a strain so no issues there. The mount was a little tricky; it took a lot of welding and heavy-gauge steel to make it rigid enough to lift level but it’s still going strong. Unfortunately your 214 uses a 31 tiller which doesn’t have the same mounting frame and gearbox that made my setup work.
Yes, I combined parts from a model 33 tiller and the 37a blower by building my own brackets / lifting links and using a cross shaft with sprockets sized to attain 1000 rpm at the auger when the engine is at full throttle.
That 317 is an old machine, but proves they are just as good today as the day they were built, very nice job on that drive !.
For those keeping score it is JD317 - 1, snow - 0 . Nice setup!

Yep and your still in the window watching.
Sweet setup! Best of both worlds.
Very nice.
Nice tractor setup. Thanks for sharing 👍
now thats a badass setup!!!!
Not to steal your idea, but this definitely inspired my build on my 140, so thank you.
Very cool setup. Looks like it works good and the 18 HP Vanguard has plenty of power to run it.
Thanks! The blower can definitely move a lot of snow before the engine starts to grunt.
Great set up!!!! Best of both worlds!!!
Thats an impressive little rig you have there!

Not sure my back would appreciate this.
Awesome setup! Making a mini 4440 out of my 317
Nice setup and does a good job.
I'd like to see more of that set up
That is sweet. I've wanted to do something like this to a cub cadet with the rear pto in the trans if I ever get my hands on one. very cool.
My cats were looking all around to see who was invading their territory.
Good video 👍
Nicely done...
This is the same setup I want to do on my Wheel Horse 520H. Looks like it works well

Yes please!
And another request.

Gute Arbeit!
