I remember bein a kid and listening to the Insparations and wanted to sing bass and grew up and didn't get to but I'm thankful the Lord lets me sing his praises
I was sitting in a restaurant for lunch in Franklin, NC one day and heard this familiar bass voice speaking. Could tell it was Mike Holcombe without even looking.
This is just awesome.....no place in here in New York City where this type of music is utilized....southern Gospel is the best ! this group is just wonderfull.
I've been in Southern Gospel music for most of my 63 years. I've heard some legendary bass singers but none better than Mike Holcombe. His talent is amazing. He consistently sings an octave below other bass singers and, as this video shows, he has a tone more beautiful than most other bass singers. His range is incredible. J.D, was supposed to be "the lowest bass singer in the world" but, like a lot of basses, he used the mic trick to get his low sound. Mike never has to use that.
All these basses are very good. About Eric I love his semi sermon when he sing with Triumphant Quartet. He is an anointed person. I saw people turning to Jesus while he was given his testimony in Texas
Martin Cook would call him 6'4-94.... aka he's 6'4, and was skinny enough when he started with The Inspirations that they could get away with joking that he was 94 lbs.
Holcomb sounds good... until he starts that vocal fry nonsense. In full voice, he has some similarities to Rex Nelson. But, vocal fry NEVER sounds good; there's no resonance, and it amounts to nothing more than a well-tuned belch.
You mean Rex Nelon but yeah vocal fry usually doesn’t sound good, unless someone has worked on it for a long while and you can’t really tell their doing vocal fry.
@@BecauseHeLives39Ken Turner is an excellent example. You can't tell he is using fry, until he gets very low, then it still sounds pretty decent. His natural voice isn't that low, but he blends well.

How can ANYONE give a thumbs down on this?
It’s just the people who are jealous of Mike’s voice. 😂

I knew Mike when he first started personally. He not only talks to talk he walks the walk.
Great job you guys god bless you and everyone

I Love Mike Holkome &The Inspirations
actually it was Marlin Shubert who sang Rocked on the Deep.. Wake Up in Glory album.
Correct. I have that album. It is a treasure.
You are accurate but old Inspirations songs never die they live on with the group regardless of the members changing
I have got to get me a suit like the one Mike is wearing in this video.
Quarteto Gileade. Oh, Happy Day
hmmm, I've got that album.
Mike sounds so much better with Greater Vision!
Awesome

Mike is good singer
Martin Cook is right about the canned music though
Is this Greater Vision (Quartet) available as a DVD and or CD: looks like it was done at NQC.

+herecalico I like your videos😉😝
How tall is this bass singer? He's huge.
6.4.11.

@@abigailvance413 To be honest I thought that he may be over 6'7. Looks much taller 😃
@@MultiKamil97 he does! But, not that I know of. Must just be perspective or something.
@@abigailvance413 Or maybe other singers are significantly short, who knows 😁
Lewis family
Mike Holcomb is good, but he's no Tim Riley or Ken Turner.
I think he comes pretty close here.
@@phillippasteur3904 The guy who sung before him is much deeper and soft.

I think some vocal frys are better than others

Hey, when Gerald Wolfe tells you to go down to the basement, you go down to the basement lol.
I think Mike sounds great here... much better than he was with the Inspirations. He controls the fry well here.
