That is correct, it tends to run in families. Thankfully febrile seizures are mostly benign.

@sinkingship773 Absolutely, using Celsius is standard in the medical field globally and is preferred for clarity and consistency, especially in scientific and medical contexts. It's always a good idea to stick with Celsius when discussing temperatures in these areas!

It sounds like you're describing a situation where someone experienced a febrile seizure, and a doctor intervened by pouring water on the person. Febrile seizures can occur in young children during a fever, and they are often brief and not typically harmful. The water-pouring action might have been a cooling measure to help reduce the person's body temperature. However, it's important to note that treating febrile seizures should be done under the guidance of a healthcare professional. If someone experiences a febrile seizure, it's advisable to seek medical attention promptly to ensure appropriate care and to determine the underlying cause of the fever. Always follow the advice and recommendations of healthcare professionals when managing such situations.

It can happen to adults rarely. Usually if it happens to adults it is more serious and may be due to an actual underlying condition.

Yes, febrile seizures occur only in children typically between 6months to 6 years. If seizures happen with fever outside of this age range, there must be an evaluation for the cause.

@@pediatric_doctor_at_home I remember my mom saying I had one when I was months old, and the doctor saying I had to avoid having it again or I might keep getting them, never had any after though.
