Motorcycle Tour of East Anglia on a BMW 1200 and Triumph Tiger 900 - Ep 2

- Welcome to episode 2 and the final episode of our East Anglia Tour. In this episode we leave the little village of Horsham St. Faith and the lovely Black Swan pub and head north to the coast. The weather was again not in our favour so we opted not to stop in Cromer (the crabbing capital of Norfolk) and had a brief stop in Sheringham before heading South West to Walsingham - one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in England. We wanted to go there not just because of its historical and religious significance but because I'd been there 50 years previously as a 6th form student on a retreat! We're not religious, but as we'd checked out a paranormal centre on our "Magical Mystery Tour" video we thought it appropriate to look at all aspects of the spiritual world. After a very calming experience we headed back to the coast and the lovely village of Blakeney, on the way Sue demonstrated her unique ford crossing technique! A coffee later and we were headed to our stop over in Old Hunstanton and the delightful Lakeside B+B. This place was a real find and a quiet little part of the Norfolk coast.
The final part of the tour took us to King's Lynn and the old Gaol Museum before heading to the last night in the beautiful town of Stamford. En route we passed over the Cross Keys swing bridge which had caused the longest line of stationary traffic we had ever seen. We finally arrived in Stamford to be greeted to the best weather we'd had all trip - yes, we finally saw the sun! Stamford is a really lovely place and we wouldn't have thought of going there had it not been for Sue booking a belated birthday surprise for me with tickets to see the comedian Alfie Moore, who happened to be performing at the Corn Exchange that night. A great show and a great hotel!
We hope you enjoy our latest adventure and if you do please give it a THUMBS UP, share and subscribe.

Dear MDD,Thanks your brilliant motorcycle tours which I really enjoy. I have ridden Bikes since 1959 till 2021,but after a heart attack and a stroke my balance was shot!So I bought a sidecar outfit! But I have had to give in after a series of mini stokes. If I haven't had a medical problem its not. worth having? That comment Great after one of your tours was from me not my wife Margret its her Tablet! Best Wishes Malc.(79).
Thank you very much Malc! Really appreciate your comments and sorry to hear about your medical issues 😟 we’re glad you are enjoying watching our adventures - best wishes to you both! 😀👍

Now did I just see you both on the my home turf...
Isle of Wight
Hi Nick, yes you did. We've had a great ride today - a little hot but it's been fun. Looks like we might get a little wet tomorrow but that's ok 😄👍
Will you be adding a video of your visit to the island at some point

Thank you Mike, it was indeed the business! 🍻 glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching! 😀👍
What a lucky man to have his better half buy him Stamford for his birthday! 😁Seemed to be gravel at every parking area this time. Thank you for yet another entertaining travel/tour guide video and the hard work it takes to edit them. Much appreciated. Ride and stay safe.
Thank you 🙏 I am a very lucky man! We had a lovely time in Stamford even with the gravel 😂 thanks again for watching and commenting! 👍😀

Another great vid, love the Lakeside B&B but deep gravel car parks...... 😱
Thanks Richard! You’re right about the car parks - must be cheaper than tarmac 😂😀👍
Great episode this week, really enjoyed the modern country music. Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks very much Steve! Glad you enjoyed it! 👍😀
Brilliant video again glad you both had a great time and great selection of music take care.
Thank you Derek! We always have a great time and glad you enjoyed watching it and listening 🎶🎼😀👍
Two thumbs up from me. Sue's off-road biking tip excellent and Bri's Kite flying beach mention just the right amount of smile material. Now, having been inspired, I'm off for a spin on my GS around Biarritz, thanks.
Thank you Tom! Glad you enjoyed it 👍 Biarritz sounds amazing! We were due to be there next week for a wedding but we had to cancel - one day maybe 🤔 enjoy the ride and thanks for watching!😀👍
Lots of places to visit in East Anglia. Just been to Iron Horse Ranch this morning in Market Deeping. May be to far for you to do in a day. Lovely countryside though. Recommended.
Thanks for the tip Melvyn! Good to know for next time! 😀👍
Every Vid is a great pleasure to watch it thank you and take care !! Danke!!
Danke Klaus! We appreciate your comments and thanks for watching! 😀👍
Gosh you guys are living the dream! Another awesome video, thanks for taking us along with you. And a "Hiccy belated Burpday" to Brian. We had front row seats to see Ross Nobel once...thankfully there was a grumpy woman sitting next to me who literally did not laugh...so we were safe lol. Hey, you both scrub up well, too. Nice pins, Sue ;)
Thanks very much Jenny! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for my birthday wishes 🍾👍 Sue always scrubs up really well !😀👍
Great video Sue , Bri , some lovely places you visited, along with great roads and scenery, accommodation looked great apart from those pesky gravel carparks lol , thanks for sharing looking forward to the next adventure, safe riding both 😁
Thank you Dale! Glad you enjoyed it 👍 yes we were blighted by gravel everywhere we went 😂 all good practice though! 😀👍
Great video, love the country roads and villages
Thanks very much John! 👍😀
Love the interesting places you visit, and the places you stay, and the food reviews, and the great scenery, and the bikes....love it. Ps you sound like my hubby...."We can see the car/van/bike from here"....🤣
Thanks very much Sue! Glad you enjoyed it - always good to have a view of where the bikes are! 😂😀👍
Your videos are fantastic, editing is brilliant, keep them coming!!, Sue went through that ford like she was riding a sledge! 🛷 🤣👍
Thanks very much! Yes she was practicing for sledging! 😂😂😀👍
I’ve really enjoyed your mini tour of East Anglia, yours is one of my favourite travel channels and really like the reviews of the places you stay and restaurants you visited. Norfolk is an area I don’t know very well apart from Sheringham, Cromer and Kings Lynn. Stamford is a must see now for me along with more of Norfolk, Suffolk and Lincolnshire. The bed and breakfast place overlooking the lake looked really good and I would plan a route to stop there.
Thanks very much Dave! We’re really glad you enjoyed watching our adventures 😀 and thank you for taking the time to comment! 😀👍
Always a pleasure and look forward to your adventures and you’re easy-going riding style and looking for great places to stay and of course beer o’clock always a pleasure ride safe
Thanks very Trevor! Hope you enjoy the ride with us ! 😀👍
@@midlifemotorcyclediaries always 🏍🏍👍
Thanks for taking us on a trip to East Anglia, always thoroughly enjoy your adventures .. some more sun would be good but at least it was dry.. 👍🏻
On those strips of gravel, stand up and take a hand full 😜😳promise you’ll be okay😂🤪.. go well💕
Thanks very much Jen! Glad you enjoyed it 👍 a pity about the lack of sun - it does make all the difference 🌞 but as you say it was dry! Right about the gravel 😂😀👍
I had a laugh when you mentioned the lack of bath tub at the Black Swan. You English do love your baths don't you? :-))
Can’t be without a Bath Mark! 😂 🛁🫧😀👍
Absolutely fantastic video.
Thanks very much Neil! Glad you enjoyed it! 😀👍
Fantastic trip, with lovely nature, small towns and nice roads👍😊 And what a wonderful place to celebrate a very important birthday😂 Congrats💐🍺💥
Thanks very much Johnny! It was a great trip and a brilliant place to end it with! 🥂🍾
This was a really fun trip to watch, ya'll have some beautiful countryside, I sure wish I had some pubs like that close to me.....
Thanks very much! We do have some great countryside and pubs - all we need is the weather! 👍😀
How bizarre to to see you 2 end up in Stamford, just down the road from us. A town that we take for granted. Some fab biking roads around the area too. Great and informative as always. 👍
Thanks very much Paul! What a great place you live in 😀 we had a brilliant time in Stamford and it was the perfect place to finish our tour! 😀👍
Great vlog as usual guys. Loved it 👍🏴
Thanks very much Dylan - glad you enjoyed it! 👍😀
Cracking video, love watching your vlogs guys
Thanks very much Ian! Really glad you enjoyed it! 👍😀
Great to see Walsingham. We’ve certainly enjoyed similar places, like Buckfast and St Albans. They have a quality that you just don’t come across all the time and a moment for reflection.
Thank you Graham! Glad you enjoyed it! 👍😀
Strange seeing so close to home on one of your films and although we are not religious Walsingham is lovely. Btw you both looked very nice for your special night out.
Thank you David! You obviously live ins lovely part of the country! We’re not religious either but thought Walsingham was worth visiting 👍😀
@@midlifemotorcyclediaries Hi, I read your reply to my wife who said that she loves Walsingham's garden and finds it very relaxing, great roads to ride around that area too! Best wishes
Thanks David! You’re right about the roads too 👍 great place to ride! 👍😀
So good to see you both back on the bikes and on the big screen (well 55" any way) Sue and Bri (Bri & Sue?), thoroughly enjoyed your first three offerings this year, and without doubt up to your usual standard. I did have to view the first one through my fingers (horror movie style) when I saw Bri's bike on it's side at the Triumph visit though. Thank you both and keep it up11 (Please!)
Thanks very much Nick! Glad you’re enjoying watching our adventures 😀 I was more than horrified when I saw my bike propped up by Sue’s Tiger 😱 - at least it broke the fall! 👍😀
yous have been a miss,,, great u are back
Thanks very much Franco! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching! 👍😀
Gotta love a new MMD video on a Friday.
Have a great weekend ☺️
Thank you 🙏 you too! 😀👍
Thanks for another lovely episode. We also have place on the seaside in Norfolk. (Virginia, USA, not England.) Your commentary on the places you’re passing is really quite interesting to me as a foreigner. Thanks again.
Thank you Marco! A little bit different from Norfolk, Virginia! Thanks again for watching and commenting - we really appreciate it! 😀👍
Really enjoying this as I have your other videos. But especially since Norfolk is my back garden so to speak. Really pining to pull the trigger on a tiger 800.
Thanks very much Brandon! You’re fortunate to live in a beautiful part of the country 👍 as far as the 800 goes - do it!😀😀
Some lovely towns and villages, seem to have a thing about not surfacing car parks though!
Thank you! You’re absolutely right about the car parks - must be cheaper to throw some gravel down! 😂😀👍
Another awesome episode 👍
Thanks very much Bart - glad you enjoyed it! 👍😀
Always look forward to an MMD video - really enjoyed that, thanks.
Went to see Alfie Moore last year in Chorley - great night.
Looking forward to your next adventure!
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂Alfie Moore was certainly a highlight of the trip, Cannis and Stamford as a town is really beautiful. Next trip is to the Isle of Wight later in the month. Thank you for watching our adventures 🏍🏍😀👍
Great informative video as always. Love your hotel reviews. Lots of gravelly parking in this occasion. No problem when you have adventure bikes tho! 😉 Not an area of the UK I know at all. We tend to head west towards Wales with the bikes. Although years ago we did stay in a caravan on the Sandringham estate. Stamford looks delightful. I’ve never even heard of it!
Keep up the good work you two! 👍🏻
Thank you! I leave all the hotel reviews to Sue, she’s really good at it! We did seem to be unlucky with the gravel parking but it’s all good practice 👍 caravan in the Queen’s back yard 👏 didn’t know you could? I’d never heard of Stamford either! 😀👍
@@midlifemotorcyclediaries our driveway is stony so I get the practise every time I leave the house ! Thank goodness for a low chassis!!😱
Re: Sandringham, It was over 30 years ago and I remember the site was set within the forest and that the showers and loos were absolutely spotless!! I’ve just Googled it and the site is still there! It’s a caravan and camping club site now right within the royal estate. Just need to buy a motor home now!!🤣🤔
@@5coaly when we can’t ride on 2 wheels anymore we might consider it! 😂😀👍
@@midlifemotorcyclediaries same here! 👍🏻
Nice pub looked really clean both in room and bar the food looked great too .I have to say the lakeside seemed to be your favorite ,it certainly looked really nice there .Sanford church could tell some tails I have to wonder what it looed like in the 13th century .Stamford really is a lovely place to see very enjoyable watch guys well done 😊👍
Thank you Mal - Glad you enjoyed it ! Lakeside was a lovely quiet spot, but to be honest we loved them all. Stamford was a really nice place especially in the sunshine 🌞! 😀👍
Thank you for taking us on your brilliant trips! Keep up the great work.😊😊
Thank you very much Leif! Glad you enjoyed it! 👍😀
Great job guys. Yes the beach ah well, I do remember as a kid Blackpool and Morcombe similar. Nice countryside there. We just got back from our South Australian trip what an amazing trip into the outback. I managed to put a 3 Min video together im not a vloger I do it for family and friends it's good fun. I have worn out a set of tires in under 12 months ha ha. The Ghost ship looks good yumm. Take care enjoy. Ray and Laura
Thanks Ray! I remember the beaches of Blackpool and Morecambe very well - spent most holidays there as a kid! Windswept and grey 😂 sounds a bit different to your South Oz trip 👍 is you bid on you tube? 😀👍
No my video I just sent out on email I'm not sure how else to send it being a non tech minded person ha ha. Maybe you could advise me if you want to look at it. I sent it that way as my sisters in Yorksire seem to prefer it so who knows 🤷
@@rayhill668 e mailing is probably fine if it’s not too big a file! 👍😀
@@midlifemotorcyclediaries I will have a look I think it's 67 Meg it seems to go quickly 🤔
Just love these tours, My fave is the Wales 360 but love them all, fantastic!!
Thank you! We really appreciate your comments and many thanks for watching! 😀👍
Thankyou for visiting Nofolk, my favourite is Sherringham , we sometimes park at Holt catch the steam train to Sherringham . Blakeney is another of our fav they have great bands play at harbour rooms
Thank you Julia - Norfolk is a beautiful county, I used your visit it a lot when my kids were young - we used to go crabbing in Blakeney! 😀👍
Really like these vids.. really have a travel show type feel to them with the hotel and area reviews.. 👍🏻
Thank you very much! We like to give people some idea of what places are like - it helps in tour planning. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍😀
Another fantastic video, I look forward to your escapades they're very informative please keep it up.
Thanks very much Simon! We’re glad you enjoyed watching our adventures! 😀👍
Enjoyed that . Liked when you said about moving the bike on the gravel was character building that was one of my late father's saying when things got tough . By the way you missed the iron age fort at Warham as you rode through . Cheers for the great filming
Thanks very much! Wish we’d have known about the Iron Age fort - maybe next time 👍 thanks for watching! 😀👍
Another great video from you two! I'd love to visit East Anglia but the mileage would be quite high from where we live. Maybe one day.....
Looking forward to the next one!
Stay shiny side up!
Oh and Brian..... Pick yer feet up!! 😉
Thanks very much Andrew! We’re glad you enjoyed it 👍 it’s an interesting place to visit! Pick my feet up! 😂😂
2 more great videos and rides thanks for sharing
Thanks Jim! We appreciate it! 😀👍
Well that was nice to wake up to. You guys make great video's, must take ages to edit but well worth the effort, thanks.
Thanks very much! It does take a long time but we’re glad you enjoyed watching it and thanks for your support! 😀👍
Always enjoy your videos, your editing is excellent with all the extra bits you put in. Plus lovely to see a lot of the places we toured through on our six month of travel in our RV around the UK, which we then shipped back home to New Zealand.
Thanks very Cliff! Glad you enjoyed it and nice to hear it brought back some good memories for you 😀 must have been an epic trip for you before you went back to God’s Own Country! 👍😀
Shame you missed the most beautiful part of North Norfolk between Sheringham and Blakeney.
There’s always something to go back for! 👍😀
I think this is one of my favourite videos of yours. What lovely places you’ve taken us to, in this vlog.
That line of traffic though 🤦🏻 That’s the beauty of motorcycles 😁
PS: Alfie Moore is hilarious. You can quite often catch him on Radio 4
You’re absolutely right about the line of traffic 😱 if we’d been in a car we’d still be there! We really loved Alfie Moore, came across him by accident on Radio 4!😀👍
sue scrubs up well, love all your vids ,stay safe.
Thanks! She certainly does 😀!
What a great video .brought back some lovely memories as we know the area well and many of the locations you visited . keep up the good work and we look forward to many more rides with you both . Ride safe x
Thanks very much Michael! We’re glad you enjoyed it and the memories it brought back for you! 😀👍
Enjoyable as usual, great choice of music makes a change from the usual UA-cam generic stuff. Any plans to come to Ireland?
Thanks very much! I really wanted to have a change from You Tube music - so glad you enjoyed it 🎶🎼. Ireland is on our to do list! 😀👍
we do that run 2 times a year the chiprun up to well,s ,,,,
Great place for chips! 👍😀
When staying at 'Lakeside' B&B I see they had a 'fancy eating table' (The Beverly Hillbillies) were you not tempted? Another enjoyable vlog, ride safe.
Thanks Lee! Loved the Beverly Hillbillies 😂 but thought better of dropping fried egg on the “fancy eatin’ “ table! 😀👍
My wife is from Stamford, we got married in Peterborough, long time ago😀
It’s a really lovely place Ian! 😀👍
I loved adnams ghost ship but as local to me but not good for being a diabetic laugh out loud
That’s a real shame Dave 😢🍻
