Thank you! Tomorrow I run my 800m in my school district meet. I was 10 seconds away from tying my school 8th grade girls record. I ran a 2:45 the record is 2:35. Today I ran 2 miles in the morning (14:38 not a fast one) after school I ran a 600m sprint in 51 seconds which surprised me. Hopefully I can beat the record tmr. I placed 3rd last 800 but I’m hoping for 1st and beating the record.
I just realized I may be way overtraining. I am a sophomore on varsity cross country, and so I train really hard because I know I’m at an age disadvantage. My first 5k CC meet is in 6 days, and the last 6 days I have put in 30 miles. On average I’d put in 4 miles in the morning split between 3 miles consecutive, and 1 mile cooldown. and a faster 2 in the afternoon. I feel great and haven’t noticed any stress on my muscles other than light soreness that goes away after stretching. My coach is absolutely awful, and doesn’t know what he’s talking about. The only instruction he has ever given is the distance we run for the practice. And at the moment I am on quarantine until the day before the race, meaning I can’t attend my team’s practices. Am I super overtraining? Because I feel good, and feel like I’m going faster every other day. Sorry for the suuuper long comment. I just started competitive running so I wanted some advice
there’s a difference between mentally overtraining and overtraining your body , if you see yourself losing motivation to train and it’s starting to get harder , you may be burning out, if your muscles are to sore everyday even after rest your putting to much stress on your legs , when I ran 40 mile weeks , mentally I felt drained , not more so psychically , that’s why it’s hard to do long runs for me during that week and I feel like I’m in the edge of burning out when I get that high
My race is coming on March 31st ... I will Update this comment every day as well as running 200 meters more every day starting from 600 meters. We have to run 2 kilometers on the race... IN under 7 minutes Edit: Uh oh. It seems like i forgot about this comment -_- Well the race was cancelled

My science fair project is due the same day as my last race of the season is. I really hope I can get it done this weekend so it doesn’t keep me up til 2 in the morning on race day

How r u getting 51 in 400 but 2 30 in 800, my 800 is 2 18 but 400 is more than 51
lol 10 seconds is quite a bit in the 800. That is over 60m. Also you cant get a 600m in 51 seconds. that is imposible.

Also prevent by including enough rest, correct shoes, eating enough protein and calcium for recovery.
