I think the coolest thing about this episode in terms of its contribution to the wider Star Wars lore is getting a glimpse into what life is like for the cyborgs of this universe. Yeah we have Vader and Greivious who are technically cyborgs, but they’re “more machine rather than man.” But there are millions of citizens in the galaxy that are some sort of cyborg (and I know plenty of other media explores this stuff, but in Star Wars they just kind of exist) We have characters like Lobot, you can play as one in SWTOR technically, but like many of the characters who get mentioned as having cybernetic implants, they’re mostly there because they look cool. There was something kinda dark about seeing a kid go through that, and react to it with acceptance and not fear, and I imagine it reflects the experiences of kids who grow up with a medical condition that puts them at risk for things. Idk, it feels like someone was actually paying attention. That is a type of person in the Star wars universe we know has existed for a very long time, but we rarely if ever get a peak into how it affects their lives. Mako in SWTOR has like a net link implant or something, I’m sure there’s a few other characters as well, but they get used as sort of information dumpers or miracle “fix it” tech wizzes, which is what KB’s role is, and there’s never a lot of exploration beyond that. I also think it’s good for kids to see kids in media having the type of bond where they know about each other’s weaknesses and are smart enough to tell what’s going on, and also resolve it in a forgiving and encouraging way. I know they’re just kids, but when I was that age, I was like fern. I had friends who I knew were struggling but thought the only way to help them was to ignore the problem, be positive through it… and sometimes I never considered how they actually had to approach things differently. It wasn’t that I didn’t care about them or didn’t worry, it was that I just didn’t understand. So yeah, the friendship stuff was cheesy, but it was also really sweet and felt very sincere, and we do NOT get enough sincerity in child characters these days. I think sometimes we confuse sincerity for cheesiness because we expect so many things to be dark and cynical, or played if as a joke. But Seing these kids confront danger and death in a way that both acknowledges the bad of the situation but also is focused on solving the problem and having hope really feels thematically relevant to Star Wars.
I agree! I hope I didn’t convey the opposite in this reaction - I was just saying that this kind of thing is usually executed poorly but I enjoyed it here :)
@ i didn’t get that vibe from you as well. I was impressed with how simply they handled it, and that they made clear parallels but didn’t hammer your head in with some sort of strong disability metaphor. They don’t need to point out the metaphor, it’s more powerful this way and KB has a very human, personal, and childlike response to itz
Great episode. Amazing show! Looking forward to seeing the last 2 episodes. Didn't expect myself to care about the kids this much after the first episode but they seem to have pulled off this show with ease and it's been a pleasure.
This episode was awsome ( however shorter than others), the story in was lovely, the interpretation by the children got my attention beggining until the end. If the last episode was about Jod's development, This time all 04 children did a team , specially the K.B. development, to me was a impressive interpretation by herself, known more about her feelings and her ideas about Fern's tought about her. And the actions scenes in the last part ( awsome the way they were runway ) The giant crab; the spaceships destroyer; the new spaceship by them; the way each one coordenate the spaceship command. Really ,skeleton crew its a great surprise in the star Wars universe.
Yeah for sure - was glad to have gotten more insights. If you’re referring to Jod talking to the pirates, who knows! Curious to see where his Force abilities come from!
What did you think about episode 6? Let me know in the comments!

Totally agree :)
the talk between kb and whim almost made me cry. so it’s pretty clear that they made me invested in these kids
I felt it too!! The way these kids portray these characters is just so awesome

I COMPLETELY agree with you - it’s been such a joy and I’ve really realized how much I’ve missed this kind of joy in Star Wars!

Couldn’t agree more - this show continues to surprise me with how joyous and delightful it is every single week :)
Friendship and trust are huge themes in this show!
For sure!
Every kid had there episode. KB was due and was able to shine in this episode.
Love that she did!!
BEST episode yet! How rare that a show gets better and better these days 😂😂😂
So glad you’re loving the show! I am too!
Favorite episode so far. BDH also directed my favorite episode of Mando S1.
Awesome!! So glad you loved it!
Episode 6 was a little more into who are the characters in depth. Would persuasion be a Jedi power (without mind control)?
