I built one for my Razor team before getting Yun. Kind of a meme but I find her actually really fun and interesting. She kills, she heals, she shields... her teammates from incoming damage
if u have Zhongli and someone 2 geo resonance like Albedo in my case u get; more damage out of resonance when Zhongli's shield is up, not as uch res shred but 4 both all elements with no set up like with VV, a stun via Zhongli burst, Albedo's off field damage, and his mastery buff. on the other hand the Tankfei team can give more healing if neither shield is enough, more res shred, and more energy 4 Hu Tao especially if u want 2 run her with a shimenawa set.
@@TibbyII Wrong. Thoma C6 gives a damage boost and if you correctly use his abilities you can 100% uptime his shield. Problem is his damage overall fucking sucks. Though the most comfortable build will always be Albedo+Zhongli combo with Hu Tao. Her highest damage potential is Thoma C6 or Elegy Amber

Tankfei is perfect for those like me who have moved onto stronger 5star dps's but miss having her in the team I will always remember my first main and now I can keep using her :) Great vid!
yess I love Yanfei but sadly I've been moving to stronger dps' atm. But i only do that to clear Spiral, but in overworld I use her a lot Geo bros with XQ. her playstyle is very fun

I've been running tankfei for a few months now and I'm glad to see a guide like this out! 2p emblem/2p tenacity really is great since you need eveyr drop of ER you can get. Although I do a healing bonus circlet instead of a HP% circlet. Sure, I could have about 4~6k more health with an HP% circlet, BUT the healing bonus (with prototype amber) lets you get just a little bit more healing out. With that, burst is giving 21% healing to every party member. With the direciton a lot of mobs are going in, namely more and more mechanics to ignore shields, I decided getting more healing out instead of a slighty stronger shield was going to be more helpful. Edit: Adding on, I use her with yoimiya. For hu tao the HP% circlet would for sure be a better choice just so you don't worry about healing Hu Tao too much
During Hu Taos Rerun (when I finally became a Hu Tao haver) I was looking to build a powerful Hu Tao team and naturally went with Thoma as my shielder since I didn't have zhongli. I was disappointed by how high maintenance the team was and how my hu tao ended up with less damage due to thoma stealing her vapes. Then Sekapoko uploaded his tankfei guide and mentioned how she works great with hu tao. I have already built her a long time ago when I needed some Pyro DPS units but she got replaced first with diluc then with yoimiya and finally with hu tao. And I figured hey! I got Thoma's artifacts which are basically Tankfei's best in slot so why not build a Prototype Amber and try tankfei out with my hu tao? It's a small investment and I had the resources. I fell in love with tankfei after that. She was the reason I was able to finally 36star the abyss and has become a permanent member of my Hu Tao team ever since. If you have Hu Tao (or Melt Ganyu) she is an amazing addition to those teams so I can not recommend her enough.
7:30 you kinda predicted the future. faruzan with xiao/wanderer + bennett yanfei on thrilling tales is kinda nutty. pyro res, shield and thrilling tales = safe big crit numbers
I've been a Yanfei Main for most of the game but I found that I rarely get to use her anymore apart from in domains since I got Diluc/Hu Tao. So, i've slapped some Emblem/Tenacity stuff on her and she's great! (and yayyy Yantao team). Honestly, I don't like using duplicate characters in teams since it makes the playstyle a bit stagnant, so this opens up Thoma/Zhongli for other teams. Now we just need hyvse to put in custom saved sets so I can easily switch back to her DPS wanderer build in co-op tbh
Just got C6 Yanfei whilst wishing for Kazuha and Neuvillette! This video has helped me figure out what to do with her so she doesn't go to waste 😂 Gonna run her with Kazuha, Neuvi and Mona 👌
I had C6 Thoma as my HuTao team shielder and when I threw his artifacts on my C6 Yanfei then lobbed on Barbara’s prototype Amber I was shook. Believe the hype fam, she is such a better shield support for HuTao than Thoma imo anddd she’s ranged which is a big plus at times. Happy to have been able to unbench my first ever C6 Character and someone who was my only pyro unit besides Amber for a long time. Only thing I’m concerned about is whether I really want to refine my prototype amber much higher because between that healing and my Xingqiu’s healing I don’t feel like I need much more but I DO want more of that energy return…. Anyone with a higher refinement Prototype Amber able to chime in?
I used prototype amber R5 on my mona for my freeze team to have 2 cryo dps. The only weapon that can heal so if any catalyst user is in the team, can try to rely only that for healing to have the rest be dps units. I am also tempted to make another prototype amber for both teams. For hu tao healing too much, just dont use tankfei for awhile until you get low enough hp by being suicidal.
I have to say giving her TTDS is the best option for a full rotation team because it can actually buff your dps more and can actually make her a valid great choice I mean good.
Very cool video once again & thanks for the guide! I just got c4 Yanfei last night from the banner + free pick and was super happy (I already have c6 Xingqiu & the other characters are at parts where their next const won't help as much so I made this choice)
my childe and eula just do so much more so my yanfei hasn't seen much use lately. I've already known of tankfei but never really looked into it although perhaps I should consider making my main dps yanfei into a tankfei instead on investing on thoma from scratch.
guys help me remember, i thought one of her conselation increase party damage, now c4 creats sheild , even bard (google AI ) say that her C4 creat 20% dmg no shields . did that change or some sort of mandela effect or whats the deal

Try these-- Team A: Yanfei, Fischl, Beidou, Chongyun (I'm assuming Yanfei is your DPS) Team B: Diluc, Xingqiu, Xiangling, Barbara But building Anemo supports would help a lot too :)
i was going to build yanfei as main dps but after watching this i’m gonna put her on my main dps yoimiya team and build tankfei. I have C6 bennett and wanted to build main dps yanfei for c6 bennett. The thing is yoimiya hits pyro depending on her skill cooldown so i don’t know who would be better main dps on c6 bennett team but tankfei is needed for yoimiya so thank you for helping me decide.
ganyu bennett tankfei and venti works well too. tankfei as pyro resonance and pyro aplicator for venti burst(just simple normal attack on venti black hole and his black hole changes into pyro). also venti can refill energy based on what element his burst absorb(probably you gonna absorb pyro for ganyu melt). so her energy will refill more easy. i using tttds when use venti in my melt ganyu and gonna use prototype when use melt ganyu with kazuha(hope i get kazuha soon)
I got her C6 while pulling for Zhongli and Ganyu I plan on pulling for Yoimiya in the future, since her next banner shouldn't be too far off, and if I can sneak in a Kazuha, I could run Yoimiya-Kazuha-Xingqiu-Yanfei

i want to build a lyney team: Lyney as main dps and Bennett as his best support are set. But NOW i am torn: I want a shield so lyney can get his charged arrows through. Do i build Tankfei and go kazuha 4th for swirl damage, or do i pull for zhongli and go full dps yanfei with zhong as support. For context: Lyney and his weapon WANT a triple pyro team, and yanfei might be preferrable to thoma or xinyan
Got max constellations for Yanfei, Beidou, and Xingqui while i was pulling for 2 Ganyu's and 1 Zhongli. well worth my primos. I skiped xiao and shenhe, and had enough kept to get 2 Yae mikos, but after her relase she no longer interests me so ill keep them for kazuha rerun or Ayato.
I'll try this build on my Raiden Team. I didn't got Eula, and I'm still building Sara. Yanfei is the only pyro user whom I find reliable ot use along Raiden's E since all other pyro chars suffer with overload knocking the enemy away, and her 80 Cost burst helps Raiden back, However, Yanfei doesn't have much to help Raiden directly though. I might use her along Benett and give my Xingqiu to Keqing's team since I find she benefits from his kit better and I'm too mobile to use area effect buffs like Benett's( with Keqing, I use E everywhere and all the time, both to escape danger, target specific enemies, get the height advtange for a plunge, etc...)
funny thing her 2 best teams are the ONLY teams i have :) so i think im definitely gonna have to try build tankfei considering i jsut lost my 50/50 to jean on zhongli banner ;(

Nice disclaimer that the Tankfei here wasn't built the best. I would just like to add, however, that triple HP Tankfei with good ER rolls would give her the best shield compared to Thoma and Diona.
C4 shield is viable for shielding, pyro application for vv shread, ttds for atk buff or amber for heals My god, the character was broken already, now she is GoD Tier lol
For thoma not really since he has more shield hp and the whole stealing elemental reactions aren't a really big problem so in my opinion they're about even overall
@@jeffhensen5607 You can definitely make Thoma better, but Tankfei is just better baseline. For example, Thoma's shield is useless on Xiao because sometimes Xiao doesn't want to Normal Attack at all. Tankfei always gives a chunky shield, and heals as well, if you're using Prototype Amber. But part of it is preference. I just don't like how Thoma's shield doesn't come in one big chunk, so that I never know exactly how big a hit I can tank. I'd be completely different if miHoYo just added a shield "HP bar" already...
I have her C1 and dont need another pyro dd or shielder. Hu tao und XL are best pyro and for shields i have diona, thoma, zhongli. And i really dont like her clownlooking. But the video is greatmade ^^
I've only been playing Genshin for a little over a month now and I got her at C7 while trying to get copies of Zhongli, I wasn't sure if she was good or not.
Yeah, I've been a yanfei main forever now, and I keep trying to tell people how good she is but they don't believe me. I guess now they'll see how good she is

I'm building Tankfei just as an excuse to build and use her at all. She's one of my favourite characters non-gameplay-wise but I already have loads of main DPS units
as a Yantao main, im so happy it's getting the recognition it deserves. I've been playing this comp non-stop on PMA recently and its so satisfying to pull everything off. Recently I've been trying to equip Yanfei TTDS because of the 48% atk buff it provides, 20% Noblesse, and 25% Atk on Pyro reso. In paper it looks very *spicy*, but in reality; the rotation is whacky and you'll waste a lot of time pulling everything off of one Hu Tao E. Right now im finding a way to get this to work, but for now, Protype Amber is the way to go. Thanks for mentioning Tankfei! I really love her character and design and im so glad I can use her on a team even though she's only a shield supp and an atk buffer.
I use her (C6) with 4p Bolide and Memory of Dust. It's so comfy, you can tank so much. But this build is for a main dps Tankfei, which may defeat the whole purpose for most people.

I have used tankfei in abyss with amber. Giving Shield, pyro for resonance, and ranged pyro for tanking down ice and water shields. And the healing from the amber means she can replace or fill in for a lot of spots on a team as 1 pick. And that means you can use stronger characters you might not be able to use all at once otherwise.
I recently tried hutao yanfie , amazing combo , If you have like 200 ER on yanfe , she easily gets her burst back off field , as hutao generates so many particles throughout her rotation. Finally reaching , 80k vap charged attacks.
@@manjunath414 30k hp, 1.3k attack, 73% crit rate 153% cd, 50% pyro bonus, im running 4 piece crimson witch. I also have a sucrose that gives me 200 em and my hu tao has 70 em as well
I am always having a hard time to pick healer into my Hu Tao teams as they all would overheal her if I am not carefull. This Yanfei is perfect for that tho. She also enables pyro resonance which is quite nice. I got her C4 from event so I am just gonna scratch some unused artifacts from proper sets and lets go!
@@simonazzz This is what I’m also concerned about, my Prototype Amber is only R2 but between that healing and my Xingqiu’s healing, my HuTao’s frequently above 50% HP and I have to actively not use Yanfei’s shield to take some damage. I’m conflicted because I want to refine it more so I get the ER and don’t have to use ER sands…. but I also don’t want to be over healing my HuTao. tldr: it’s a good problem to have but it forces you to decide when you really actually need the shield vs when you don’t in order to play HuTao optimally. NGL I’ve been enjoying the added complexity, but there have been times that I’m annoyed that I E and my HuTao’s still at like 55%hp. I think I’m going to play it for a while longer and see if I really even need the additional ER from the Catalyst or if maybe just one more refinement (R3) will be enough but still not be overkill and throw off my rotations.
I finally got her C6 after a long time. I'm amazed how strong she is together with my C6 Xingqui, C6 Bennett and a C6 Sucrose. For those who is planning to build her, now is the time. 😂😅 You won't regret it.
@@sallyhope2137 In all my abyss run I always run my eula with my Bennett only for the harder boss tho, sometimes even for fun. But saying that u won’t run her with him is false ppl like seeing big satisfying numbers and eula with benny are the go to for that.
@@sallyhope2137 no, he overrides a lot of infusions, including ayaka and keqing. and the physical dps in this game that do use bennett do pretty cracked fuckin damage, so it's a huge hindrance to your account when you can't use him anymore. at the very least, there's sara, but she doesn't work nearly as well as bennet and is kind of hard to micromanage.
@@anyanP What's wrong with C6 Benny??? 😅 As long as you know what ur doing with ur team comp it's good to go. C6 Benny is great tho i only use him for abyss run and nuke damage. Yanfei and Benny is a good team comp for abyss. I also tried Benny with my Hu Tao, it's great. Basically any pyro dps. Raiden, Benny and Ganyu, Benny is great too. It's up to you on how u utilize ur characters. This is just my opinion. 🙂

Tankfei works really great with Hu Tao, Yelan, and Kazuha. She provides the healing and shield for Hu Tao. Xingqiu is freed up for my Yoimiya team so I’m really happy having this option.
Everyone's like "this build is cracked", when XinYan has the ability to generate more constant shields + proc TOTM, like who started this thing about Yanfei tank should have taken in consideration XinYan, cuz I see no benefits at all from Yanfei generating a shield on her BURST, not elemental skill, BURST.
lost the 50/50 to zhongli again and i had plans on making yanfei a shieldbot since i got her to c4 on the current banner, thank you for uploading this sevy!

great vid. i’ve been trying to build up tankfei to replace zhongli in my hu tao yelan xingqiu team so that zhongli is free for another team in spiral abyss. my hu tao team can make it on her heals alone up until floor 11 but then she needs a shield. My hu tao is C1 with staff of homa, also f2p :p
I already had her c3, risked a couple on ten rolls yesterday and got her up to c4 fortunately! finally a competent 4th slot for my ladies only yoimiya team :D she's gonna be accompanied by beidou and yunjin!
Also ,if you are using her for Hu Tao comp ,don't R5 yet the proto amber ,i have it at R5 and it makes my Hu Tao have harder time for her HP to be below 50% .So i just used favonius codex on her ..

Recently got Yanfei C4 while building pity on the banner. Now I have a reason to use my already invested Yanfei again.

The only weapon that can heal so if any catalyst user is in the team, can try to rely only that for healing to have the rest be dps units. I am also tempted to make another prototype amber for both teams. For hu tao healing too much, just dont use tankfei for awhile until you get low enough hp by being suicidal.

I have to say giving her TTDS is the best option for a full rotation team because it can actually buff your dps more and can actually make her a valid great choice I mean good.

my childe and eula just do so much more so my yanfei hasn't seen much use lately. I've already known of tankfei but never really looked into it although perhaps I should consider making my main dps yanfei into a tankfei instead on investing on thoma from scratch.

guys help me remember, i thought one of her conselation increase party damage, now c4 creats sheild , even bard (google AI ) say that her C4 creat 20% dmg no shields . did that change or some sort of mandela effect or whats the deal

Try these--
Team A: Yanfei, Fischl, Beidou, Chongyun (I'm assuming Yanfei is your DPS)
Team B: Diluc, Xingqiu, Xiangling, Barbara
But building Anemo supports would help a lot too :)

i was going to build yanfei as main dps but after watching this i’m gonna put her on my main dps yoimiya team and build tankfei. I have C6 bennett and wanted to build main dps yanfei for c6 bennett. The thing is yoimiya hits pyro depending on her skill cooldown so i don’t know who would be better main dps on c6 bennett team but tankfei is needed for yoimiya so thank you for helping me decide.
I tried this build out once and I'm convinced its her best build now.
ganyu bennett tankfei and venti works well too. tankfei as pyro resonance and pyro aplicator for venti burst(just simple normal attack on venti black hole and his black hole changes into pyro). also venti can refill energy based on what element his burst absorb(probably you gonna absorb pyro for ganyu melt). so her energy will refill more easy. i using tttds when use venti in my melt ganyu and gonna use prototype when use melt ganyu with kazuha(hope i get kazuha soon)
well, Yanfei was my first C6 just a couple days ago.
Im enjoying tankfei on my hutao. Now I can use zhongli on other team specially mono geo. My build is 35kHP and 210 ER. R5 p.amber

You need the energy generation from prototype amber since energy cost for yanfei shield is 80

I only wanted one copy of yanfei for c4 since we get one free liyue character. This was heartbreaking for me since I wanted her to be Hu Tao's shielder. Had to stop pulling since I'm getting closer to pity. Hope I get her off banner in my future pulls.

i want to build a lyney team: Lyney as main dps and Bennett as his best support are set. But NOW i am torn: I want a shield so lyney can get his charged arrows through. Do i build Tankfei and go kazuha 4th for swirl damage, or do i pull for zhongli and go full dps yanfei with zhong as support. For context: Lyney and his weapon WANT a triple pyro team, and yanfei might be preferrable to thoma or xinyan
Got max constellations for Yanfei, Beidou, and Xingqui while i was pulling for 2 Ganyu's and 1 Zhongli. well worth my primos. I skiped xiao and shenhe, and had enough kept to get 2 Yae mikos, but after her relase she no longer interests me so ill keep them for kazuha rerun or Ayato.
Yoimiya, Kazuha, Yanfei and Yunjin is a cracked team. Tankfei is basically pyro Diona.
I'll try this build on my Raiden Team. I didn't got Eula, and I'm still building Sara. Yanfei is the only pyro user whom I find reliable ot use along Raiden's E since all other pyro chars suffer with overload knocking the enemy away, and her 80 Cost burst helps Raiden back, However, Yanfei doesn't have much to help Raiden directly though. I might use her along Benett and give my Xingqiu to Keqing's team since I find she benefits from his kit better and I'm too mobile to use area effect buffs like Benett's( with Keqing, I use E everywhere and all the time, both to escape danger, target specific enemies, get the height advtange for a plunge, etc...)

Nice disclaimer that the Tankfei here wasn't built the best. I would just like to add, however, that triple HP Tankfei with good ER rolls would give her the best shield compared to Thoma and Diona.
C4 shield is viable for shielding, pyro application for vv shread, ttds for atk buff or amber for heals

It's funny how she's a better Pyro shielder than both Thoma and Xinyan, and that's even without the Prototype Amber for extra healing
For thoma not really since he has more shield hp and the whole stealing elemental reactions aren't a really big problem so in my opinion they're about even overall
@@jeffhensen5607 You can definitely make Thoma better, but Tankfei is just better baseline. For example, Thoma's shield is useless on Xiao because sometimes Xiao doesn't want to Normal Attack at all.
Tankfei always gives a chunky shield, and heals as well, if you're using Prototype Amber.
But part of it is preference. I just don't like how Thoma's shield doesn't come in one big chunk, so that I never know exactly how big a hit I can tank. I'd be completely different if miHoYo just added a shield "HP bar" already...

I have her C1 and dont need another pyro dd or shielder. Hu tao und XL are best pyro and for shields i have diona, thoma, zhongli. And i really dont like her clownlooking. But the video is greatmade ^^

4:41 Minor thing, but how would diona be at talent level 11 if she's c2? she needs to be at least c5 to bump her over talent level 10
I specified C2 because it adds shield DMG absorption, but yes need that C5 for the lvl 11 talent :)

I really was pulling on Zhongli banner to get Tankfei. Even after I got Zhongli, I kept on pulling to get her C4... she's officially home now 😁

as a Yantao main, im so happy it's getting the recognition it deserves. I've been playing this comp non-stop on PMA recently and its so satisfying to pull everything off. Recently I've been trying to equip Yanfei TTDS because of the 48% atk buff it provides, 20% Noblesse, and 25% Atk on Pyro reso. In paper it looks very *spicy*, but in reality; the rotation is whacky and you'll waste a lot of time pulling everything off of one Hu Tao E. Right now im finding a way to get this to work, but for now, Protype Amber is the way to go. Thanks for mentioning Tankfei! I really love her character and design and im so glad I can use her on a team even though she's only a shield supp and an atk buffer.
If you're using Sucrose on that team then give her TTDS instead.
I use her (C6) with 4p Bolide and Memory of Dust. It's so comfy, you can tank so much. But this build is for a main dps Tankfei, which may defeat the whole purpose for most people.

I have used tankfei in abyss with amber. Giving Shield, pyro for resonance, and ranged pyro for tanking down ice and water shields. And the healing from the amber means she can replace or fill in for a lot of spots on a team as 1 pick. And that means you can use stronger characters you might not be able to use all at once otherwise.

If you have like 200 ER on yanfe , she easily gets her burst back off field , as hutao generates so many particles throughout her rotation.

It's kind of humourous, because we somehow turned Yanfei; a selfish main damage dealer, to a shielder/healer support xD
She made Thoma redundant.
I am always having a hard time to pick healer into my Hu Tao teams as they all would overheal her if I am not carefull. This Yanfei is perfect for that tho. She also enables pyro resonance which is quite nice. I got her C4 from event so I am just gonna scratch some unused artifacts from proper sets and lets go!

@@simonazzz This is what I’m also concerned about, my Prototype Amber is only R2 but between that healing and my Xingqiu’s healing, my HuTao’s frequently above 50% HP and I have to actively not use Yanfei’s shield to take some damage. I’m conflicted because I want to refine it more so I get the ER and don’t have to use ER sands…. but I also don’t want to be over healing my HuTao. tldr: it’s a good problem to have but it forces you to decide when you really actually need the shield vs when you don’t in order to play HuTao optimally. NGL I’ve been enjoying the added complexity, but there have been times that I’m annoyed that I E and my HuTao’s still at like 55%hp. I think I’m going to play it for a while longer and see if I really even need the additional ER from the Catalyst or if maybe just one more refinement (R3) will be enough but still not be overkill and throw off my rotations.
I finally got her C6 after a long time. I'm amazed how strong she is together with my C6 Xingqui, C6 Bennett and a C6 Sucrose. For those who is planning to build her, now is the time. 😂😅 You won't regret it.

@@sallyhope2137 In all my abyss run I always run my eula with my Bennett only for the harder boss tho, sometimes even for fun. But saying that u won’t run her with him is false ppl like seeing big satisfying numbers and eula with benny are the go to for that.
@@sallyhope2137 no, he overrides a lot of infusions, including ayaka and keqing. and the physical dps in this game that do use bennett do pretty cracked fuckin damage, so it's a huge hindrance to your account when you can't use him anymore. at the very least, there's sara, but she doesn't work nearly as well as bennet and is kind of hard to micromanage.
@@anyanP What's wrong with C6 Benny??? 😅 As long as you know what ur doing with ur team comp it's good to go. C6 Benny is great tho i only use him for abyss run and nuke damage. Yanfei and Benny is a good team comp for abyss. I also tried Benny with my Hu Tao, it's great. Basically any pyro dps. Raiden, Benny and Ganyu, Benny is great too. It's up to you on how u utilize ur characters. This is just my opinion. 🙂

Tankfei works really great with Hu Tao, Yelan, and Kazuha. She provides the healing and shield for Hu Tao. Xingqiu is freed up for my Yoimiya team so I’m really happy having this option.

Everyone's like "this build is cracked", when XinYan has the ability to generate more constant shields + proc TOTM, like who started this thing about Yanfei tank should have taken in consideration XinYan, cuz I see no benefits at all from Yanfei generating a shield on her BURST, not elemental skill, BURST.

great vid. i’ve been trying to build up tankfei to replace zhongli in my hu tao yelan xingqiu team so that zhongli is free for another team in spiral abyss. my hu tao team can make it on her heals alone up until floor 11 but then she needs a shield. My hu tao is C1 with staff of homa, also f2p :p
I already had her c3, risked a couple on ten rolls yesterday and got her up to c4 fortunately! finally a competent 4th slot for my ladies only yoimiya team :D she's gonna be accompanied by beidou and yunjin!
Also ,if you are using her for Hu Tao comp ,don't R5 yet the proto amber ,i have it at R5 and it makes my Hu Tao have harder time for her HP to be below 50% .So i just used favonius codex on her ..
I named my Hu Tao/Tankfei team "Trial and Terror" lol
