@N R I'm a young adult so I don't think that's a big concern for me. I was just never taught how and I have a weird anxiety about it, just the feeling of falling if I don't keep it balanced scares me to death. It was the same way when I taught myself to to roller skate, which I could never really do very well.
The lyrics to this song show the insanity and burden of humanity. Everyone starts innocent as a child and is coerced by power into madness... greed... maleficent addiction an illusion. No one thinks they are the evil one. No one thinks they are the raindrop that caused the flood... All the while they were a tsunami amongst an apocalypse. Some strong fucking lyrics right there.
The music video has two people in it, diffrent versions of himself existing at the same time. One of them is the normal like person who isn't the top at anything but enjoying life. The other version he understood what to do to make it to the top, and enjoyed the feeling of being in control. The first part of the song is by version 1 while the 2nd and 3rd part is by the the corperate/political version. The music video has so many details though that's easy to miss, like the dove and corperate sign when the two versions split diffrent directions.
***** My bad, you misunderstood what I was saying, I meant "Are you salty?" The way I phrased it was dumb. I should've put "Are you salty?" or "salty much?". Then it would make more sense.
This song is extremely important to me because before my brother left for the marines he told me that I first thing he wants to hear out of my mouth was this song. I’ve been listening to this song in repeat for 3 months and I wound stop until I know it word for word like he said . He comes back in 2 weeks! - November 8th 2022
I remember listening to this song for the first time back in my teen years, probably at the age of 14 or 15. I didn’t pay much attention to the lyrics other than the “I can ride my bike with no handlebars” part, which was nothing out of the ordinary because I didn’t pay much attention to lyrics at that age anyways. The melody of this song however, I could never forget. Literally got chills just thinking about it before I started to listen to it again just now. Then years later I come back sometimes and listen to it again and realize how insanely deep this song is. This might actually be one of my top favorite songs to have ever been made ❤

In the context of the song, I imagine that the bloke in the song HAS, in fact, ended the world in some way, but the repetition of the first verse through a filter brings very strong images of a photo of the kid riding a bike with no handlebars, buried amidst blackened, burned rubble. Very chilling.
This song creeps me out so much, comes back to me at 3 AM I dont know this, but it almost sounds like its about a child with good intentions growing up into a monster.

Every time I listen to this song I imaging it telling a story One about a child who grew up to be corrupted by his accomplishments and power, Bringing chaos to the world until he was assassinated for his actions The last verses being a flashback to when he was innocent and where it all started
The song starts out so innocent, the person in the song starts out as a small child but eventually turns into a deluded power hungry man and finally a complete monster.
I feel like this song is about how kids can do anything (the handlebars part makes me think of how kids brag about that), and the fact that sometimes, the can do some really bad things or do some awesome things. Then it goes back to the handlebars part to show that it starts off as a child doing something they find cool.
I think the last part is reflecting on how something small can be turned into something major but in the end you see how things can get out of control from something meaningless
Yes. It feels so weird to listen to this. Especially in fear for people like me down in Oklahoma. No one understands how bad it has gotten here. Our school district leader is forcing children to be christian. It is dangerous for my Step-Parent and my Uncle to live here due to laws against trans people. Songs like this make me realize how the world is going to be someday when someone gets too much power. Not everyone agrees with me on this, but I feel as if Donald Trump is trying to become a dictator. The fear he can cause through what he has done and the way he treats people like Joe Biden who was sick. And tell the country that the only reason Kamala Harris is winning is because of her race and that she is a female. I wonder how the country will become if a dictator comes to power. What will the next generation be if all the newest generation is just a bunch of children being raised by television and not knowing how to help people, or be polite. I feel alone in my generation. Being one of few who writes books and focuses on things on how to help people and not dance to a stupid noise on a website. What is the world going to turn into someday?

N e ways, point is, this song is way to impactful for its own good
to me this song has always meant "just because you can do it , doesn't mean you should" like riding a bike with no handlebars. you could do it, easily im sure, but should you? could you lead a nation with a microphone? i bet you could, but should you? and i know scientist can split the atom of a molecule, but should they?
I think you're missing some of the larger messages of this song/video. For one thing, yes scientists should split the atoms of molecules; nuclear fission powers entire cities very efficiently and cleaner than most other sources of energy. This song tells the story of an individual who lost their innocence and experienced a tragic ending. More than that however, the song is about the nuance that defines humanity and the great/terrible things we are capable of.
Completely agree. And based on their anti establishment track record, I think that is likely. I see it as them making fun of dictators and tyrants. Comparing “wow I can ride my bike with no handle bars” to “I can end the planet in a Holocaust”. Both invoke the response “wow congratulations you must be proud”.
nitpicking here, but its one of the things of the song I admire, they're not splitting the atom of a molecule, a molecule is a group of two or more atoms, they are simply splitting an atom.
I see this song as about testing limits. It all starts when you push yourself a little further and realize that rules don’t truly exist. And as it goes on what is there to stop you
Life all in one damn song!! BRILLIANT!! Not too many songs really catch my attention unless I can feel what the artist is feeling and really hear what the message is. Verry powerful and underrated. My dad raised me listening to this song, yet never told me the name until a little bit ago. I only knew the part that goes "I can lead a nation with a microphone." And I finally found this song. I love this song with my whole heart💙

I see the strings that pull I can make I could have them vaccinated I can I could
Verse 2 is his friend, who followed a different path at the start. The song's about creativity and power, and the differences between the two and how they both rise up only to grow apart and fight each other.
