- “Στα Αρβανίτικα” είναι μια προσπάθεια να αποθανατίσουμε μια γλώσσα που χάνεται και να μάθουμε ποιοί είναι οι Αρβανίτες και ποιό ρόλο έχουν παίξει στην νεοελληνική ιστορία. Τριγυρνόντας σ’ ένα αρβανιτοχώρι, τα Βίλλια, ανακαλύπτουμε έναν ξεχωριστό πολιτισμό με γυναίκες δυναμικές, με πείσμα, το λεγόμενο αρβανίτικο κεφάλι, και ιδιαίτερο χιούμορ.

Η αρχική εγκατάσταση των Αρβανιτών έγινε κοντά στο 1300 στην κεντρική Θεσσαλία.Ο παππούς μου Αρβανιτης στην καταγωγή χόρευε πολύ διαφορετικά από όλους τους άλλους ηλικιωμένους στο χωριό.Πολυ δύναμη κ τρομερή κίνηση στο χορό.Αυτος μου έμαθε όλη την αρβανίτικη κουλτούρα στη μουσική κ το μεράκι στο χορό.

Let's make something clear that the Greek Arvanite has nothing to do with the Albanian and the Turkish-Albanian!!
And we discover this from the etymology of words (the etymology of Greek words always gives us the answer)
The name Albanian = White country and comes from the Latin Alba = which means white country, so it is a term with a geographical and not an ethnological meaning (see Caucasus, that's where the Romans brought them, after all, from the kingdom of Albania)
While Arvanitis originates from Arvanon (which refers to the Suliotes, the Spesiotes, the Hydrians and many inhabitants of Messogeia) it comes from a completely different root and specifically it is a toponym of northern Epirus that we find from the 11th century in the writings of Anna Komneni. Arvanitika is a Greek dialect mixed with ancient Greek, Latin, Turkish and local Balkan linguistic elements.
The Arvanites had a Greek conscience, while most Albanians were Turkish, hence the word Turko-Albanian!
The confusion of the two words is only in the Greek language because they seem to sound alike, the similarity is only superficial, after all the Albanians themselves call themselves Skipetar (Shqiptar), that is, from their country, Skiperia (Shqipëria), the land of eagles!
The only relevant thing between the Greek Arvanites and the Shqiptar is that they understood some words from the other, but they never had and have the same national consciousness.
The Arvanites of Greece, having their roots in the ancient Greek Arvanos, never accepted the term Albanians as their ethnonym, as the Souliotes and the Himareans and the Spathiotes and all the Northern Epirotians do to this day. They have always declared that they are Greek Arvanites. This means that behind the ethnonym Albanians and the patronymic Arvanitis there are two different peoples, the Albanians and the Greeks.
This is to clarify the irregularity as far as the similarity of the words is concerned, but the ultimate goal is the Greek consciousness that exists among the Greek Arvanites!
The British professor P. Trudgill after on-site research finds that: "The people themselves are referred, not as Albanians, but as Arvanites, sing: Ἀρβανίτης" : Arvanitis

Στο χωριο Σεβαστη Πιεριας υπήρχε το τοπωνύμιο Αρμπαούτι. Μηπως ξερεις τι σημαινει αυτη η λεξη? (Αρμπαούτι.) . Eναs Αρβανίτης κατείχε την περιοχή πριν χτιστη οικισμος.
Δεν υπαρχει στην Πιερια τετοιο τοπωνυμιο.Απο την Πιερια ειμαι και εγω και ουδεποτε εχω ακουσει κατι τετοιο.

Greeks adopted local languages wherever they went, mixing their own words/verbs in them. In Italy it's called grecano. In the black sea pontiaka. In Albania arvanitika. In Pelopponese there is a dialect called tsakonika. In Afganistan and Pakistan locals still preserve the ancient greek language's elements. How many schools should the greek state organise for each of the above dialects and in which areas of Greece, when your state, Albania, abolished greek schools, in order for the greeks to forget their own language?
