Hi everyone 🖤 Double feature today as two videos ended up being shorter than usual, so I combined them! - its less edited than my usual videos, but considering how gorgeous the scenery is in Kaer Morhen it felt almost more appropriate! I hope you enjoy me running around getting surprised by a lot of random side quests, and I'll see you next week for Brothers In Arms 👀 As always, a gentle reminder for no spoilers and to refrain from backseating!
The Chrystal wasn't bugged; it was just on a ledge above your eyeline. In the video, you could actually see its red outline in the periphery of your vision. Keep your ears and eyes on a swivel.
Exactly, I also thought the 'bugged' comment was strange. Geralt wasn't looking in the right direction. Have him face the tower and look slightly upwards.
The armour sets can be described as follows: Wolf School Armour: Jack of all trades, perfect for a more varied playstyle. Attack, sign intensity, survivability etc. Griffin School Armour: Sign focused set, turns Geralt into a wizard. Cat School Armour: Dexterity and speed with an emphasis on quick attacks and critical hits. Bear School Armour: Focuses on survivability with big buffs to defense and strong attacks.
I would add on to that the Forgotten Wolf gear, which is heavy on Aard and Yrden usage, an oddly specific set but it has its uses for a dedicated build!
The really fun builds come from combinations of the upgrades you unlock in the DLCs. Gear set bonuses you can see what they are already and that they only activate at grandmaster level (which comes in DLC). The other upgrade mechanisms that come are not really plot spoilers if you wanted to look them up. It gets very expensive though so be frugal and also hold on to meteorite, runes and glyphs.
@@misantropath8339 It's funny to me that Forgotten Wolf gear is supposed to be about aard and yrdeen but it gives 0 fucking sign intensity so the signs are useless and the armor is dogshit. In the end you use aard and yrdeen with the Griffin armor because it doubles your sign intensity when you stand in yrdeen and piercing aard is just crazy
You found all the quests, impressive. Only true explorers find 'Greenhouse Effect' without spoilers and 'The Witcher's Forge' is mostly a feather in the hat for the compulsive looters. I presume you took care of the question mark way up there in the north(east). Also, I don't remember if you picked up the Place of Power close to where you and Lambert exited the climb through Old Speartip's cave system. (EDIT: I rewatched that part, you went past it!) I think that is the only Place of Power in the game which is not shown by a question mark.
I understand Elihal being in your favorite characters list for sure, the guy made a positive impression on me too! Another pair of NPCs that I often remember about are the two dock workers we hire to usher on Madame Irinas play, Sofus "the Bull" and Hal. The crier was great on his rhetoric, wanted a good show, proposed an interesting bet and when we win they just accept the defeat and do as agreed. No prejudice torwards Geralt, no trying to cheat and overall charismatic lol
fun fact that letter of apology was because of a bug in early release where the chest was bugged and cannot be opened, apparently they put that along with the fix
Funnily enough the Netflix Witcher "anime" goes into more detail about the peasant attack on Kaer Morhen 1:04:56 don't forget Thunderbolt for beefy enemies
@@nyxandchill It's shorter but I wouldn't say half. Probably 30% maybe ? Cyberpunk took me 120 hours including the expansion. I can't tell really tell how much for witcher 3 since I've had a couple NG+ cycles
Hi Nyx, You asked about the different armour sets, and what they do. Griffin boosts sign intensity on all pieces, so signs are very powerful but sword damage is reduced. Cat and Bear both boost sword damage and adrenaline point gain so sword damage is high but signs are much less powerful. The difference between them is Cat is light armour so is faster and uses less stamina, but provides little protection, while Bear is heavy armour, so slower and uses more stamina, but gives much more protection. Wolf has a mixture of sign intensity sword damage and adrenaline point gain, so is more balanced between signs and swords. The forgotten wolf set is similar, but specifically boosts Aard and Yrden Hope that is helpful, but its really just scratching the surface. There are so many different ways to combine the armour sets, skills alchemy etc together, before you even get to the extra mechanics that come with the DLC's Also I've played through this 4 or 5 times and never found the Greenhouse Effect quest before. Something to look out for next time I play it
Thankyou for explaining!! I'm not great with strategic builds, which is why I have a habit of neglecting potions and ability points and bombs 😅 I have no idea how I found that quest, I could just hear some WEIRD sounds - I thought it was another Cyclops at first 😭😂
The portal crystal was on the wall ledge to your right. You can see it glowing in Witcher senses above the minimap at 10:10. I think we all took ages to find that one though 😅 Also, have you seen the trailer for The Blood of Dawnwalker? It's being made by some of the Witcher 3's main devs and looks promising, conceptually at least.
At last! 👻 I've been waiting for a Kaer Morhen sidereality episode(s) for a long time. In the back of my mind somewhere flashes Ogrodzieniec Castle - The Pearl of the "Eagles' Nests Trail"...
If I'm not mistaken, Geralt was a kid when the peasents attacked Kaer Morhen, he was already a Witcher but hadn't finished his training when the attack happened. Also you forgot to mention the gwent witcher game since it is relatively shorter so you can finish that first! 👀
Favorie characters? Well, Ciri, Dijkstra, Lambert, Cerys Ermion/REDACTED. 😉 The grand master level stuff can be done only in the last DLC, not need to worry about. As long as you can dance with the monsters, you don't really need to worry about stats, and should pick whatevery armor looks the best for you. Later the GM buffs might define a build you want to play around with, though. The only thing right now you might want to keep in mind is that depending on how heavy the armor is, stamina regeneration can be slower or faster. Nice that you found the greenhouse end the forge! 🙂 Iirc, you can use the preview option to look at the master level gear already. 🤔
Late on this one, 3 exams later though so very happy to finally watch it :) 2:17 Bless you! Never in my life would I predict you'd pick Roach as a top 5 😂 I obviously love Geralt, I do also like Yennefer, although sometimes I question her methods. I really like Djikstra's cunningness and wit, he's probably one of my favorites in all the games, a true believer of his own goals and ambitions as well. I love Thaler, however that is more so because of the previous games, but I still love his inclusion here. Lastly it would be a tough pick between Cerys and Zoltan for me. Both have different qualities I truly value in them, but it can be a pick and choose for me, you really cannot go wrong with any of them. Thank you for that, really cool to hear your thoughts :) 10:13 It's not bugged, the crystal is above you on a ledge, you can see it's base in the top right corner of the screen 42:05 It is different, you also are correct with the assumption that Geralt was part of one not the other 56:37 This was actually the case in the Crow's Perch as well. The convenient bus stop atop was added only after the next gen update
Hope your exams went well 🤞🏻 Thankyou 😂 Listen, she spawned off the edge of a bridge and instantly I knew she was best girl 😌 definitely my chaos pick tbh 😂 Ohh google told me it was a bug but maybe we're all just impatient 😂 I would be so mad if there wasn't a bus stop in crows perch, I'm glad I only started after the update 😂
Hmmm .. my top 5 characters: 1. Geralt ... obviously, a masterpiece of a character - pretends to be "emotionless" or "neutral" ... but defies that in just about every scene. And the voice actor playing him - and has played him in all 5 games - is now a legend, surely [I will always count the 2 DLCs as proper games - because that's what they are - amazing! Douglas Cockle is incredible!] 2. Yennefer ... surely one of the most unlikeable female "love interests" in computer games history ... and I choose her every time! 🏓🏓🏓 Team Yen! The voice actress's performance in live-action "Star Wars: Andor" is phenomenal - my favourite TV show, largely thanks to her (Denise Gough - Double Olivier-award stage actress, after doing Witcher 3) 3. Ciri ... I need to be careful not to spoil anything 4. Dijkstraa ... His one-liners and sarcasm are priceless - he's a joy to rewatch over and over again 5. Keira - naughty and selfish ... if the game allowed her to be a romance option, I would take it without thinking (you can tell which option I chose when she said "friends .. with benefits") [sshhh ... don't tell Yen. Even though she can read my mind ...] This list will change when you do the brilliant DLCs - lots of new terrific characters are introduced. So I've constrained myself to only main game characters for now.
well, this video made me realize how much i've missed in kaer morhen during my playthroughs. maybe i need to revisit witcher 3 at one point in the future... again :) anyway, I would quite agree with your list of favourite characters of the game. I have to say though, that most of them are so much better in the books in my opinion, mostly because they aren't so.. game-ified, quest-structured and instead more self-acting characters. needles to say though, they are still really good characters for a video game. And, since you haven't finished the game and haven't even touched the DLCs, there are probably some more characters to be discovered or to me more fleshed out in the future who might be able to make it on the list ^^
If you like using your brain/ puzzles a short sweet but AMAZING (one of the greatest of all time actually) experiences i would recommend is Outer Wilds ::)
I really enjoyed the Kaer Morhen quests, they added so much background to Witchers and the Wolf School. And I also liked how CDPR kept the tone of loss and melancholy around the stories. When playing the game its easy to forget that Witchers are dying out and the World has moved on...similar to gunfighters in the American West at the turn of the 19th cent. (Red Dead Redemption touches on this theme) My only beef is that the Wolf School gear was part of free dlc after the game was released, so I was too high level to enjoy 'sporting the lower level stuff....but there's a mod that fixes that 🙂 I think your list of favorites will change once you play the dlc's 😉 You probably have time to get to them before TW4, I don't see the game coming out before 2028-CDPR has a history of mulitple delays and "shakey" releases. They always fix the problems(mostly) though and end up with great games. One game you might want to check out for shorter play is Wildermyth. Its an indie turn-based, party rpg that (IMO) comes closest to a tabletop experience than any other similar game...even Baldur's Gate 3.
My hot take favoured character is Morvran Voorhis. Him and Peter Sar'Gwynleve (idfk how to spell this guy's name) the Nilfgaardian dude from White Orchard I think are just both super chill pleasant Nilfgaardians. My super hot take is that in the games at least, Nilfgaard just... Isn't bad? You're kind of angled against them from the start (Vesemir literally says "we're on the side of the Northern Realms") but while there's a lot wrong about them I think they seem to raise quality of life of their subjects over time. Like it's probably easier to live under an actual pretty prosperous empire that brings order and has a huge amount of trained troops to deal with banditry and monsters than to live on your own fighting the horrors of the Witcher universe as a common peasant. Emyhr's an asshole but he's not particularly evil, just your standard-issue competent but unpleasant ruler. Kinda hard to delve into the topic without potential spoilers though so I'll refrain for now. Morvran's a chill dude though. Best character of all (just edging out Yenn) is the "Top-notch swords!" merchant guy. Games after Witcher 3? At current pace there's a chance it's Witcher 4! Only half joking because I think we're gonna get to spend a really long time on one of the DLCs. I think it's gonna be very much your vibe. For the financials my understanding is if you're a smaller creator then streaming is generally way better paying than youtube because of all the donations on top of probably getting a higher conversion rate on viewers to subscriptions. That said I feel it makes much lower quality content so personally I'm glad W3 isn't live and hope W4 won't be either (I hate Twitch lol) Cat school = high DPS fast attacks, evasive. Bear school = strong attacks do a lot, very tanky. Manticore school = signs get very strong. Wolf school = jack of all trades, generically good. Ancient Wolf school (Netflix) = Specifically focussed around Aard + Yrden combinations, for some reason. Kinda weird but whatevs.

I had given up on looking for new W3 play throughs to watch. Almost every one is distracted by a Twitch chat constantly. So happy I stumbled on Nyx.
The armour sets can be described as follows:
Wolf School Armour: Jack of all trades, perfect for a more varied playstyle. Attack, sign intensity, survivability etc.
