Back in the late 50s I worked several novice stations receiving me with that receiver, always thought I would like one. I will be waiting for your next videos. Also thought I would like a Collins receiver, but I chose a Hammarlund HQ-100 as my first receiver as that was the best I could afford. 73, W9FS
Nice to hear all of that Jerry. I got my ticket in 1964 and never got to see one of these. The SW-54, like most other similar designs, work decently until you tune14 to 30 MHz. The selectivity is terrible but you just got to go slow turning the dial. HiHi Thanks for watching!
@@rfburns3472 The hams who knew electronics would use that radio as an tunable IF (3 to 4 mhz) for homebrew converters. They liked using a BC-453 as an IF as well.
I have a almost mint SW-54 I also have a bad IF Can T2, is it possible you still have your original that was not bad? I will also be looking for a donor as well. 73 Ed
