My great-grandfather was Salamon Leiser. his shop was in the market square. You can see Geschäftshaus S. Leiser at 1:18 and 1:30. Mój pradziadek był Salamon Leiser. Jego sklep był w rynku. Widać Geschäftshaus S. Leiser w 1:18 i 1:30. Bob Leiser, Glasgow, Scotland.
Here's another Scottish connection. My grandfather owned the large Neklatz estate on the NW of Greifenberg. In 1938 he married my grandmother, from Uddingston. After they escaped the advancing Soviet army, (with four young daughters...), they were able to resettle in Scotland after the war. Greetings from Troon.
@@luckytile The family name was Steltner. My grandfather visited Scotland in the mid-30's, met my grandmother, and they were married in 1938. (And marrying a non-German was not an altogether popular move with the Nazis, even if she was 'aryan'). As a woman she automatically lost her UK status upon marriage, but there were so many GI brides in WW2 the law was changed, so she regained her UK passport after the war. Thus, after an incredible escape from the Soviet forces, (aided by Russian POW's who were anxious to avoid being returned home), my grandmother was able to return to Scotland with her four daughters. My grandfather was also allowed to join them once his lack of Nazi credentials had been established.
