We used to be able to take home any discontinued magazines, patterns which were destined for the garbage because legally they could not be sold. It was all unofficial, under the table but a blind eye was cast because most of us took a handful until some a-hat took in bulk and was caught selling at markets. After that there needed to be proof that the items were destroyed, usually by soaking in water before being tossed in the bin.

I used to work at the arena where the Utah Jazz play doing concessions. There was a rule that if they got a Dasani (only thing we sold in a bottle at the time), you had to take the cap. You could offer a small cup, but that was it. Why? Someone at another arena threw his cap onto the court, had a player slip and injure themselves. The team sued the arena for failed to maintain safety, the team put him on injured and their season tanked! So now, (or at least then) no bottle caps are allowed at any NBA games.

We had the same thing happen with cameras being installed because of theft accusations against employees. The only person seen taking stuff that they shouldn't was the one accusing us of theft. You may ask why this person's accusations carried so much weight in the company. Well, he's second in command under the boss, though calling him authoritative is giving him too much credit. He's more of a clown AH that nobody likes, for obvious reasons, but can't seem to understand why people don't like him, despite him doing shid like this.

There were actually a lot of relatives of Adolf that had to change their names. I believe a few relatives even wanted to help the cause fir the allies and understandably had to prove they were legit.

At one of my previous jobs, the owner/manager removed paper towels from the bathroom because some genius was using them as toilet seat liners and flushing them down the toilets. The back up was almost bad enough that plumbers would have had to drill through the concrete floor to remove the blockage; thankfully, it was caught soon enough. Of course, this left us with the much less sanitary option of hand dryers only in the bathrooms, and then 2020 rolled around...

I despise selfish people and will always call it out when I see it. I'm ok if it ends in conflict. Sometimes that's the only way people learn. 🤷‍♀️

In the research world, The Lancet did lose credibility. You can sign up for a newsletter that will update you on all retracted papers, And I highly encourage all of you to do so.

22:25 Wait, didn’t the Austrian painter ruin it first, or are people _still_ insisting he did nothing wrong?

When I was in 7th grade in the afternoon hours where we had to do our homework in school if all the class finished early the teacher got a projector and let us watch movies. A few kids didn't do their homework at all because of this, parents complained and the school basically banned free time in those hours. You had to present your homework. All done? Do next days. You don't have your work book here for that. Start learning for tomorrow and recite it to me. Your book's not here for that? Here, we got a few from the library just for that. You're done reciting everything for tomorrow? Okay, do the day after. Basically, they didn't just ban movie watching, but personal free time. Kids students couldn't draw or read a book if it wasn't a textbook.
Once just to spite the system I did all my homework and recited and recited all subjects last lessons for the next 3 days so the teacher who was feeling bad for upholding the rule gave in. She unsurely suggested starting to learn for the 4th day, I told her that we cover the lessons for those subjects yet (I didn't lie here). She couldn't give me any more reasonable task so she let me have my free remaining 30 minutes of the afternoon hours to draw. Then I asked my parents to write the school a note that would exempt me from mandatory afternoon hours (the students parents can ask for this exemption freely).
