- Do you think you can only use the Cricut Joy pens with the Cricut Joy machine? Think again! I have several brands that you can use right in your machine with or without an adapter. That means you can create like never before with the drawing function right in Cricut Design Space.
Remember that the use of adapters could affect your warranty as they are not Cricut approved.

I do have some other cricut joy pens I bought by mistake, now I can use them in my joy, thank you, enjoyed the video.

GREAT VIDEO! I have tons of regular Cricut Pens. When I asked for and got a Cricut Joy XTRA for Christmas it never occurred to me that the pens would be different! I knew someone would have a video about this! THANK YOU!!!!~

Great video! It's amazing how people are all worried about effecting their warranty though. How would anyone even know if you used an adapter unless you told them? LOL! It's not like you're unscrewing hardware and replacing parts - THAT'S the stuff that could be questionable for losing your warranty - not adding a silly adapter.

Thanks for the awesome video! I had actually purchased some adapters from this shop a few months and was afraid to use them because they're tight fit. However, I push up a little on the bottom of the holder when I insert the pen/adapter and it works great. I especially love that I can use my Maker pens. :)

It’s amazing how I will be able to use some of my different pens!🥰 I wouldn’t put the Tombow brush pen...it’s a delicate tip for lettering, and it needs to be at an angle or else the tip will get ruined. Maybe only the fine tip will be fine.😊💗

Just tried this with an old Bic Mark it fine point marker. I didn’t need an adapter. I marked it in comparison to my Cricut Joy pen and it worked! Thanks!

Awesome video, thanks for sharing!! When it comes to the pens that dont work with any premade adapters, you can also make your own adapters by wrapping a 1" strip of paper around the barrel of the pen until it's thick enough to fit snuggly in the machine or another adapter.

I tried the fine tip sharpie marker, and extra fine paint marker in my cricut joy and they wouldn't fit. They were too fat and I didn't want to force it. I also tried it on the Pilot "easy touch" pen and it worked! So I am happy. The marker that came with my cricut joy ran out after using it ONE time! I was so disappointed and didn't want to waste more money buying more if they were going to run out so fast.
Your marker must have been old, I have been useing mine for months.

Hi Angie, thank you for the video. Does using different pens change the draw and cut dimensions? We tried making stickers on the cricut joy using a sharpie and the cut lines didn’t line up.

Yes they can but I need to test the adapters. You will need to use an adapter to do so.

I just pick a marker. Those settings are just for you to ensure you put the right one in the machine.
Just came from your most recent video on pens in the explore and maker. Does the Pencil grip hack work with the joy like it does with the other 2 machines??

I just found your video and it is amazing! I started writing with the Joy but get lots of spots where the Joy starts and stops. Do you know if it is because of the pen or the font I selected?
That is an issue. You can try different pens.

You can use any paper. If you want a label, it needs to be something you can write on.

I tried the pilot easy touch pen since that's what I had on hand and it fit. It was the ONLY one that fit for me out of the ones that were recommended, like sharpies. Sharpies didn't fit for me.
Have you tried the papermate felt tip pens? Any ideas on an adapter that would work for those?

Thanks for making this video, I love my sharpies and tried them out. I found that I need to twist them in gently so they can go in. They fit tightly and I don't want to break my Joy. Is this normal? I have seen this video several times and don't see you struggling with the regular size sharpie. Thanks again.

Because these are personalised I would only need to print one gift tag at one time instead of a whole sheet, am I able to do this on this machine? Also, would I be able to use already cut gift tags for the Cricut Joy to print on? Thank you! ❤😊
You can't do print then cut with the Cricut Joy. The new Cricut Joy Xtra does do print then cut. So, you could ONLY write the gift tag and cut it out with this machine. It can do one at a time. Using already cut gift tags and writing on them is REALLY tricky as they are hard to line up. It is possible however.

Thanks for this awesome video! I just got my cricut joy and I'm wondering if anyone else has had trouble getting a standard fine point sharpie to fit in their joy. I don't want to force it, but it just doesn't seem to want to slide in. The ultra fine point sharpie seems to fit without an adapter though. Anyone have any ideas?
I just know the ones I used did fit. Not sure if the ones you have are different?
