Only 84 of 262 men from the 1st Minnesota that made this charge survived. I think those were the final numbers. I believe Shelby Foote's Narrative on the Civil War is so phenomenal it should be mandatory reading for all Civil War and Gettysburg buffs. But be ready; you're looking at a 2,500 page read. (Worth every second)
robert e lee was a genius who owned slaves and was using his genius to destroy the United States. I don't exactly blame John for lee being his favorite person of the battle of Gettysburg, and we've all been taught in school what an admirable person he was. I'm glad, though, that people now are saying that traitors should not be admired. They're traitors.
Much respect and heartfelt thanks to the 1st Minnesota.
Great interview!

like 17 more died on the next day stopping pickets charge if i'm not incorrect, they did capture a battle flag on July 3rd.
They advanced into the fog of battle and sold their lives as dearly as they could. True heroism.

I see the misuse of where in place of were in the subtitled questions. Otherwise very informative.
