Compared this against the Roland Blues Cube 30 watt version and Fender Blues JR. And this is what won and what I walked out of the store with. It sounds better at lower volumes than both, gets significantly louder, costs about the same, is lighter than both, has a better and more versatile sound (3 amps in 1!), and takes pedals well. I’m utterly blown away that this amp isn’t getting more attention.
The tones you are getting knock me out, but your superb playing greatly added to the overall quality of this review. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful talent.
Those jams using the tweed voicing brought a smile to my face. Fine playing with unbridled enthusiasm. Definitely makes me want to pick up one of these Aviators.
I tried one at guitar center and its fantastic. It sounds way bigger than it is. lots of clean headroom. The limiter really does a nice job. I have a mini 101 that i love. But I may have to get this also.
The Cub sounds amazing, but equally as important Jay always plays so positive and with such authority. Thanks Jay for another great review of this more than capable little amp.
If you have a speaker cab available, Quilter has a Superblock UK that emulates Marshal, Vox, etc. It's only 25 watts, but the demos I've heard sound great.
Quilter is probably selling every amp they can build but it would be nice to see some different finish options.....like red, orange, alligator, western etc. My personal choice would be black western with a wicker grille.
Does he have to come right flat out and tell you everything? Give him some moneyyyy...I was already leaning towards a purchase, but ending the demo with an homage to England's Loudest Band basically sealed the deal. I will be buying the UK version though for the higher gain Marshall setting.
Been looking for a replacement for my 20 year old Fender Cyber Deluxe 65W, although it still sounds good, I've been looking at the Tone Master's and the Tone King's Gremlin, needing a great sounding amp at low volume some of the time. Can anyone confirm with certitude that this amp delivers with overdrive at low volume, cheers. P.S. wicked rhythmic style, great playing!
Maybe this is a silly question, but is this amp loud enough for a full band setting? I know older solid state vs. tube wattages are wildly different. This amp seems perfect for my needs!
I hope this sounds better than the Fender Tonemasters. Fender is ticking me off by only releasing tweeked versions of their initial Deluxe and Twin offerings, I was hoping for a Tweed Bassman Tonemaster with all the processing power aimed at making the cranked sounds as convincing as possible. Convolution reverb is nice but the Tonemasters don't flick my Bic unless they can nail the cranked and partial breakup tones!
An ABC box would do it. That's how people would traditionally switch between the Normal and Vibrato channels on a classic Fender amp by using an AB or ABY box. Pretty simple solution for this. But, the only downfall is that the voicings are different, so you'd likely want different EQ settings - especially on the tweed channel.
I think the use case scenario for being able to change them on the fly is really limited by not being able to have independently set the gain and EQ levels, or even just the EQ levels. It would be nice if there was a way to save the EQ settings to a particular amp, then that would sort of accomplish that. But on a combo this cheap that's probably just asking for too much, really, because you'd essentially have a 3 channel amp...
Can someone answer this question: How are the input voicings created, as a circuit? Is it modeling, or analog filters, EQ sort of thing, etc.? I'm curious what is happening to the signal, before it hits the first gain stage in the preamp. Thanks!
Hi! I think is something about the input circuitry before the gain and eq sections that affects the amp “behavior”, like freq filtering and/or transient response. Hope that helps!

Wonder how it compares to Boss Nextone?

Dude is a monster guitar player. Great sounding solid state amp.

I have no idea who this guy is but his playing skills are totally out of control even for youtube where everyone seems like a pro.

Eh? This is the launch video. It's not even in the wild yet.

Great picking JLJ! Great sounds Quilter - I am buying one!
That is one of the best guitar lessons I have seen !
Man, Jay is awesome and so is the amp. Need to get me one of these!
The Cub sounds amazing, but equally as important Jay always plays so positive and with such authority. Thanks Jay for another great review of this more than capable little amp.
That’s sound great, anyway I’ve recognized you Jay that I’m used to take a harmony class at Berklee with you^^.
Yay fellow Berklee-ites!
Attended in '76.
Oh Lord, Quilter does it again, take all my money haha. My band is now officially Quilterized running two OD 200’s. Picking up one of these Cubs soon.
Nice demo!!
This or the Fender Tonemaster Deluxe? If these are US made, I’m gonna go Quilter. I just can’t support the Chicoms anymore.
Fantastic amp. Great sounds and extremely versatile.👍👍
Great demo. Want one!
Love it! Sounds excellent
Really great product. Can't wait to try one. Wish there is something like this for Marshall tone too.

They just released the Aviator Cub UK. Apparently it's three voices are JMP, AC30 and Top Boost. 🤘
8:49 Gimme Some Money
Spinal Tap Approved!
Omg what's he playing at 5:00? I've been trying to remember the name of that song for 2 years.
It’s not exact but it’s very similar to December by Collective Soul. Is that what you’re thinking of?

What song is he referencing at 5:10???

@9:15 that's the face of a jazzed happy face and sir excited to be playing those songs !!!!
Nice playing bro. The amp sounds great
I’d rather listen to this cat demoing this amp than Steve Vai doing anything ANY day! That was some fantastic playing!
Seems like a random place to crap on a guitarist you don’t like but whatever.
@@Prossdog Good post and great observation. Perhaps some are born to run and some to troll, lol.
Just an opinion, we all know Vai is an awesome composer and player. J has entertaining chops, his hard work pays off, ….. my opinion
Maybe he can meet Jack Butler in crossroads 2. I’d pay to see that
This is exactly what I was looking for! Will you also release a 2x10 version¿ that would be sweet...
Sound great 👌🏻
Gonna have to watch & listen again.....got too carried away with just hearing you play.

Very interesting.
Is the direct out cab emulated? If so, what cab are you emulating? 1x12? Thanks

@Peter at Quilter that’s all I needed to hear! Thanks so much for the reply!
@Peter at Quilterwill the cub give some decent distorted sounds at bedroom levels or is there a better option in the Quilter line up?
@Peter at Quilter Excellent. Thanks Peter.
I just bought one, it's got some kick for sure
I’m sold

Is there a way to use an external switch to access the different voicings on the fly? Thanks!

Males sense.
Thank you!
I would've added a switch to change voicings instead of 3 input jacks... seems much more convenient to me

I'm going to order one of these tomorrow. It murders my valve amp.
My Aviator Cub arrived yesterday and I'm well happy. No more valve lore for me ☺
I wish I could afford this I have been looking for a SS amp just like this.
its cheap!!
And I want to turn in my Hot Rod Deluxe for that
You sure did find the squishiness

Blues Junior killer
