Got one as a gift, and I have had it for 7 years and always love going back to it. Even hooked it to my PC and had old windows games playing music through it. Super to hear
Hello my friend,... I'm not giving up this keyboard anymore. It was my entry into the world of electronic sounds with the GEM Promega 3 for used 100,--Euro more than 6 years ago. Your demonstration confirms that this keyboard was underestimated. That was probably also because one had to deal with the menus to use this instrument completely. Anyway, thanks for reviving the old "sweethearts"! best regards.
Cool man, I'm glad you liked the video. I agree, this is a great keyboard that covers all the standard sounds, and the beats are very catchy and "human" as well. The filters are great, they sound better than most synths I've used. Definitely my second favorite after the PSR-E463, and certainly better value to buy.
I've had a number of Yamaha keyboards over the years and have always loved their quality sounds. I don't recall the model of my first keyboard, but the basic instruments i.e. pianos, strings, brass, drums, etc. all sounded fantastic I currently rock the PSR-E423, the very similar YPT-400, and an old ps-2. I'd also like to point out that this keyboard is a perfectly cromulent midi controller for tabletop synths, etc.
Hi Glynn cool vid I enjoyed very much this review of the ‘good ole’ E423. I like this keyboard very much but to me the pinnacle of the E series remains the E433 with its great keybed (the best of the whole lineup with, maybe, the exception of the E343), its five buttons to activate/deactivate rhythm tracks and its ability to accommodate ten external rhythms. Ah yes, and the possibility to read MIDI files directly from an USB stick is certainly a plus. And, last but not least, the infamous DJ patterns, aka ‘groove creator’ on the younger brother E463. Speaking of the E463, apart from the sampling feature and the effects, one of its interesting features is the additional high-quality voices such as the Sweet! Classical flute and the Sweet! harmonica. If I may ask, is your collection of nightcaps a metaphor of the PSR E lineup: all similar but always different...? 😂🤣😂 (post-quarantine humour I’m afraid...).
The hat thing just kind of happened ...I wore the panda hat for an earlier demo and it was well-received, and I'd amassed a collection similar hats so I thought what the hey... :)
Honestly, my favourite thing about this keyboard is that the styles use a standard kit, as opposed to a power kit. I wish we bought this before it got discontinued :(
I got this keyboard back in 2010 as a birthday gift 🎁 I then eventually traded it for a korg m50. Now I miss this one and want to find a used one. I enjoyed the video 😎
Thanks Kevin. Yeah this is an irony that I come across a lot in my reviews. The complex synths like the M50 have huge power and better sounds, no doubt about it... But good home keyboards like the PSR-E423, well, they're just simply more fun to use. Personally I'll take enjoyment over technical superiority any day :)
Are u still interested? I have one. But I'm from Colombia so the shipping should be international. If you are interested tell me and I'll send you my email.
Just picked up a prs-e423 new in the box at auction for 20 dollars. I know absolutely nothing about this type of technology. Is this keyboard still a viable piece of equipment in 2023 or is it antiquated by now? and does this model have much of a resale value? I will likely just go ahead and put it up for sale because i really have no need for it. However, i really don't know if it's only worth the 20 bucks i paid for it or a couple hundred. Really great vid!
Great keyboard if you can find one in the uk, no problem finding the hats tho 😊 keep up the work have you ever done a review of the Roland jdxi 37 keys
Thank you! And yes I had a short adventure with the JDXI a couple of years ago, when Gearfacts facts just transitioning from amateur to something resembling pro. You can see it be searching "Gearfacts JDXI" but I'll fin the link and post it here too
Hello! Great video! I have a PSR E423 and I’ve had it for years. How do you get the sound to record so clear? I’ve been trying for weeks to record directly from the keyboard to my iPhone. Is there a special setting I need to use the USB/printer cable or the phones/output outlet?
Hello I’m from Mexico I have a question, is this Yamaha PSRE 423 keyboard currently available for sale today in 2020? I keep aware to your reply. Thank you.
I'm a satisfied owner of this keyboard, particularly for how affordable it was, but that's just the thing - everyone says how good the instrument is >for the price
Well I guess the only thing I'd add is that when you get to the PSRE463 you get sampling, which is a HUGE advance. The PSRE403 to 453 all function in much the same way, just each progressive model gives more sounds and beats.
Hi. I have just purchased this keyboard. Great sound. Nice looking keyboard to. Can I connect to external stereo speakers? Also, when connected to Internet, can I download extra backing tracks into keyboard? Thank you. 👍
Yeah I just sold this one but I've got a PSR-EW410 arriving today. As stated in the video though, the distance between the 423 and the E463/EW410 is not all that significant IMHO
Very strange because it sounds better than the E463 right ? And the arpegiator is more usefull than this DJ groove thing... But no USB stick and no USB audio I suppose...
I have both- 423 is better with the synthesizer; E373 has DSP effects- you can make all sounds stereo- 423 cant do it.423 ia more user friendly. In 373 you can change C into 256
Press the Arpeggio/harmony button once to activate it, then hold that button down for 2 seconds to enter the list of arpeggios available. Go deep into the list using the rotator wheel and press the keys :)

Wow it's been out for 7 years?! Time flies :) Yep great keyboard

This keyboard good as gold

ua-cam.com/video/A01yyaXxPX4/v-deo.html but the picture quality is pretty terrible
One thing speaking of arpeggios. Is I know the drums on all psr e4xx series. Yamaha didn’t put them on the psr s 770 and 970.
So the PSRE has more beats? Interesting!
Просто супер! Думаю купить такой для дочки, пусть обучается
Звучит здорово, желаю ей удачи!
I like how it’s basically the e413 but with different colours.
Yeah the real differences are pretty minor.
oh man that Arpeggiator! MMM. I'm thinking about Genos and Maybe to add this too.
Wow, Genos has an arpeggiator too, probably even better
@@gearfacts Maybe, I wanna learn more about it too :)

Glad you liked the video! I just recorded from the headphone socket into the audio input of my camera. Nothing fancy :)
how much did you buy this keys?
I think it was about $125US
Hi Gearfacts, love tbe arpeggiator patterns. One question, how e423 compares with e463?
The 463 has a sampler, much greater polyphony, and the GrooveCreator. The sampler is the only significant difference IMHO.
@@gearfacts Thanks man! I will tring to find one in good conditions and reasonable price here in Brazil but it will not be an easy task.
Hello I’m from Mexico
I have a question, is this Yamaha PSRE 423 keyboard currently available for sale today in 2020? I keep aware to your reply. Thank you.
I think it is no longer being produced. Yamaha is making the PSR-E463 now. It's almost time for them to move on to the next model.
I'm a satisfied owner of this keyboard, particularly for how affordable it was, but that's just the thing - everyone says how good the instrument is >for the price

Hi, the answers are yes and no respectively :)
@@gearfacts Thank for answering my questions. Is there any external speakers you would recommend for the yamaha psr e423 please? Cheers! 👍😊🎹
@@peterg2900 This keyboard amp is awesome if you are playing live (or just loud): ua-cam.com/video/S8n6Dxu-vUU/v-deo.html
Psr e463 or ctx 3000?
how to record this to audacity using midi pls. help me
I thought Audacity was audio-only ...?
@@gearfacts Then what are you using for recording this piano to pc?
do this video get to the retail price soon?
They don't make it any more, you can only buy it second-hand. Approx $US150
@@gearfacts oh so i guess i shouldn't sell mine then
@@gearfacts but what was the retail back 10 years ago?
What is the light up plastic sheet in the middle of keyboard!!
A very over-exposed screen! The screens often look over-bright when the keybs is made of black plastic :/
Some one can help me to choose for beginners Yamaha PSR E423 or PSR E 373 better for church music?
373 is better for Church music. 423 is too decadent.
@@gearfacts thx sir
had one of these im sorry i let it go.
Yeah I just sold this one but I've got a PSR-EW410 arriving today. As stated in the video though, the distance between the 423 and the E463/EW410 is not all that significant IMHO
Tiene SUSTAIN sin el pedal??
You can connect a sustain pedal, yes :)
👌❤️👌👌👌
Tiene SUSTAIN automático??
Yes
No, tienes que aumentar el release para conseguir ese efecto
Those tweeter make difference? Same sound waulity as the 463 has no tweeter?
Yeah I couldn't tell the difference at all
Very strange because it sounds better than the E463 right ? And the arpegiator is more usefull than this DJ groove thing... But no USB stick and no USB audio I suppose...
Exactly right on all those points.
How i can activate the drums
Press "STYLE", enter the number of the beat you want, then press "START"
Is this better than the psr e373 in terms of sound quality and functionality?
If you don't care to much about the 423's funky cutoff/resonance control knobs, then yes I'd say the 373 is better overall.
I have both- 423 is better with the synthesizer; E373 has DSP effects- you can make all sounds stereo- 423 cant do it.423 ia more user friendly. In 373 you can change C into 256
what id the price
$100
I do not know how to use arpeggios
Press the Arpeggio/harmony button once to activate it, then hold that button down for 2 seconds to enter the list of arpeggios available. Go deep into the list using the rotator wheel and press the keys :)
Does it work with pc?
Yep
Just got one for 30 bucks
