@Christian YapSiege Rhino wrosk really well in the deck espeically with Ephemerate. If you don't want to play Siege Rhino the new Orzhov Stonebalde/reanimate deck is probably your best bet.
And so it did when I played it in my Athreos, Shroud Veiled commander deck, put a coin counter on it and then had a sacrifice outlet to exile two of my brother's lands on each of my turns.

Ashen Rider is a long white haired dude carring a sickle and riding an albine panther with wings. I think that's all the reason you need to play it. What i can't wrap my mind around is why you would play a deck like the guy on match 3. The thought behind must be "boy, how can i be a c**k blocker even in magic?"

So legacy is the only format I consistently play. I love value piles in that format and this is the first deck to make me want to play Modern! Might check this deck out in a non-budget form.
I built the rhino rites you made back in the days, one of my first modern decks. I had such blast to play it and eventually upgraded the mana base with fetches and stuff. Happy to see it updated with mh2.
Just got 12 Whack as my first modern deck returning to mtg, and now I wanna try this one too lmao. Looks like a sweet deck, good upgrade path, and Siege Rhino is hella nostalgic to me. (Ngl, this whole deck is nostalgia city from a couple episodes of Friday Nights, the reason I started playing mtg in the first place)
Sleeved up the deck and i have to say those man-lands are doing a lot of work. There are those turns where you just want to smash face with siege rhino’s and as many creatures as possible and finish your opponent with an ephemerate.
This deck looks so cool. For sure gonna take it to my lgs’s modern event next week. I took the B/G reanimate deck y’all made a while ago and it’s been great fun

I wanna see you take on a First Day of Class deck. For 1 and a R you get a sorcery with "whenever a creature enters the battlefield under you control, put a +1/+1 counter on it". It goes infinite with Murderous Redcap and I think pretty much any creature that has Persist, I think. All you need is a sac outlet to get the combo going.
This deck reminds me of a better Sidisi Whip deck from standard back in the day. Except siege rhino is now the worst creature in the deck lol. It’s awesome to see it
yea I liked those sets, I think the best time was after theros rotated out and before magic origins was released. Theros (thoughtseize and more aggro) and origins was still fun though

m1 g2 why did we never unmarked grave for a finisher? also i think in that game if they blast zone our damping sphere and then we hit their tron land, leaving them with 1 land, thats better than killing the blast zone, especially since we have another damping sphere
3 months late but guess it applies to any budget deck. I think it would be just neato if you would also do a game of the ultra budget deck and non-budget deck (not in a league just in the normal queues) just so we can see what those would look like

I fail to see how keeping his opponent off of mana was a bad line of play. If the opponent can't resolve anything, it doesn't matter when he draws into his finisher. It was a very controlling way to play, not a wrong way to play.
@@zenmello7616 Ashen rider also destroys a land and hits for 4 in the air Keeping hands with no clock against tron is a surefire way to lose because they will eventually find tron or simply make their land drops and tap 6 for a wurm. It is absolutely a wrong way to play..
@@ClubbingSealCub Not when you can repeatedly remove multiple permanents every turn cycle 🤷🏼♂️. The Tron player was climbing uphill that entire game, and lost through a crucible. If it worked out, it doesn't really matter. Seth won, so clearly it wasn't wrong.
Grief is probably a bad call as you don't really wanna disrupt, so much as slam threats on the field. Maybe in the sideboard but IDK tbh. Solitude is probably a solid 1 or 2 off replacing maybe a boneshards and a rhino. All in all though the deck is pretty solid. You really don't want to cut too many rhinos as its a big factor in the resilience of the deck vs GY hate. It buys you the time you need vs faster aggro decks (which we didn't really get too see in the vid) to get to the point where you're hard casting bombs or find your anti-hate if for example RDW resolves a rest in peace or something.
I feel like this deck wants Prismatic Ending over Path to Exile to hit GY hate pieces like Relic and Grafdiggers. Either way, looks like a lot of fun, might actually build this in paper.
@@6ixpool good point, Knight is also reanimatable, but I do thing being able to fairly reliably cast Prismatic with X3 to eat bridges is probably better suited than whatever the weird sideboard card from Strixhaven was.
What changes would you make with the new cards from New Capenna and the rest of 2022? I feel that Workshop Warchief may be a solid replacement for thragtusk. Blitz it gain life draw a card get a token reanimate it gain more life
@SaffronOlive In the article you mention casting Bone Shards on turn 1 to Persist on turn 2. How is that legal if there's nothing for Bone Shards to Target?
Probably more of the same. Its only the mana and the sideboard that gets upgraded. The list is already really solid outside of those two things, big kudos to Seth for the fantastic build!
Seth, is that a Black Lotus on the shelf up and to the left of your head? The lotus is normally situated in the right of the art frame but the camera may be mirrored. Edit: Nvm, the box to the right has letters that aren't mirrored.

I run Traverse the Ulvenwald instead of the MH2 entomb. A playset of Inquisition also does a lot of work.
I bought the original abzan rites and have had a blast with it. This is just a better version of it.

Yeahhh the tendancy towards ponza was definitely suboptimal. LD only matters with sustain , or preferably pressure on board. This had neither. Ah well
I mean that's not really fair. Keeping Tron on low mana is usually the best play because of Karn. He didn't know he was gonna not draw anything

Already has knight of autumns though. Sometimes path is the only thing that saves you so I'm not averse to its inclusion
