I was about 19 years old a dance major in college unable to relate to what I was told I needed to study in modern dance I was very frustrated and ready to quit and turn away from dance. I couldn't relate to my modern dance teachers at all. Then one day someone in the faculty put a video tape in the VCR and for the 1st time I saw dancers who looked and were shaped like me. The music was me the movement was me it was all what I could relate to. One year later I was taking dance classes with the teachers of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. They changed my life and for the last 30 year's I've been a dancer, choreographer and a dance teacher I even had my own dance studio for 10 years. Thanks to this company my dreams were a reality.
