one of the theories for this MV is that the EXO, that had been captured by the Red Force in one of the previous MVs, are now under the influence of some drugs (the candy with their logo at the begging 7:35 ) that the Red Force gave them to experiment on them, and the whole video is about the dream that their are having while they are uncouncious, in fact during the video you can sometime notice flashes of light (8:04/10:14) that are like the one in hospitals and labs.
The other theory if I'm not wrong is that their powers are acting up because their spaceship got crashed onto earth so they can't control their powers there so it's all crazy and they're frustrated because they're stuck there

"Ko Ko Bop" may look trippy and crazy, but if you understand EXO's storyline you will see that everything was done for a specific reason. I can see how people might think that Ko Ko Bop is a drug they are all taking and that is why they are acting like they are high and kind of in a loopy drugged-like state. But to really understand the "Ko Ko Bop" MV you have to remember what was happening in their "Lucky One" MV. In "Lucky One" EXO has been captured by the Red Force who is doing experiments on EXO to try and figure out what makes them special, and to find a way to prevent them from finding and protecting the Tree of Life, etc. The members all use their powers to escape from the government facility and this is where theories say that the story in "Ko Ko Bop" picks up right after they have escaped in "Lucky One". The blue Ko Ko Bop drink that Suho mixes and the members drink, and the pills or wafers you see them eating, is supposed to be an elixir that is helping the members to detox from the drugs the Red Force gave them when they were being held against their will in the government facility in the "Lucky One" MV. According to SM Entertainment the story in "Ko Ko Bop" also shows the members soon after they have arrived on Earth and they are all experimenting with their powers. So in "Ko Ko Bop" you see Kai with the power of teleportation using his power to levitate and Suho with the power to control water jumps into the water and disappears, etc. You see Chen with the power of thunder/lightning/electricity playing with his power and you see Beakhyun use his power of light as he throws the ball in the air and creates that huge flash of light and Chanyeol uses his power of fire to create the fireworks when he bounces the ball into the sky. D.O. accidentally uses his power of strength/force and splits open the ground when he falls down, etc. Xiumin has the power of snow/ice/frost so he is using his power to create a cloud to fill the glass. Quite simply one of the trippiest videos out there. Probably my favourite EXO song, even though it's not typical of their music. There's always much to love about their choreo, though, and...some very fine abs.

I just want a piece of what the writers and producers AND the art department/director of the MV had, while coming up with ideas for the song and the MV! As you said, it is completly mental and insane but sooooo amazing and brilliant too :P Some MVs of EXO are within their storyline and this is one of them. So you can understand whats happening at least a little bit when you know it. But you can enjoy the craziness and the awesomness of the song either way.
They have dance breaks during the washing machine sound happens. It's pretty cool and you can watch it in their live performance videos. This laid back, tropical island kinda vibe at the beginning (as you called it), the drums and the echoing sound plus other characteristic sounds in the background, these are pure reggae sounds and rythym ... It makes this song a bit narcotic. EXO are definitely an adult-themed K-POP band :)
