I remember Dave once saying that Taylor made him feel like an amateur who could only play AC/DC beats. Quite a high compliment coming from a legendary drummer like Grohl.

It’s great hearing Dave singing this without all the OH YEAHs and HERE WE GOs scattered throughout the song. They were definitely rawer back then, young and hungry.
Wasn’t even alive when this song came out but something about Dave transitioning from the quiet soul he was in nirvana to now so outspoken and brash forming foo fighters this music is what resonates through my soul I come to songs like these and truly feel it throughout thank whatevers above for music like this
If I were to guess based on this album, I would not have guessed DG would become such a cheeseball, and go on to compose really uninteresting, predictable, boring music. However, most bands can't even make one solid album, much less 1/2 doz, so I'm still very grateful for the Colour and the Shape.
@@UnderSprayedWhiteSkies he’s cooler now than he’s ever been. Medicine at Midnight is a ducking banger. You just sound like you’re getting old and crusty dawg. We’re still dancing to this music.
Yeah, I think the Foo Fighters have a good chance of being the “Rolling Stones” for GenXers and Millennials. They’ll be touring well into their 70s and the fans will still show up.
@@UnderSprayedWhiteSkies I wonder if he hates any of his own albums. Surely he must dislike some of it himself. Heard him on an interview saying he listens to Jesus Lizard. Three remarkable things here: 1.Most important: That DRUM sound! 2. This is back when his voice sounded best & the whole band was still "hungry". I liked that line up with Franz Stahl. 3. I first found this video on the night of Taylor's death, obviously completely unaware of the events that were unfolding. Was blown away by his playing as usual, then went to bed. Woke up to the terrible news. This is one of the greatest recordings I've seen of Taylor and always gives me chills as I'm reminded of that sad day. Will always remain one of my biggest inspirations as a fellow drummer.
Dave Grohl is a excellent drummer and performer but he's a fucking cornball who mustered one great album and then a bunch of milquetoast crap. I don't care how many records or tickets he sells; he'll never come anywhere near the level of sheer, natural artistic genius, cultural impact/influence or cool that Nirvana/Kurt Cobain did. Just saying.
@@AnodyneHipsterInfluencer Agreed. The debut was cool and the pocketwatch demos were cool. Seems like Dave went more pop-oriented at some point during the second album's creation.

Too alarmin' now to talk about
Take your pictures down and shake it out
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes

He's ordinary
Don't the best of them bleed it out
While the rest of them peter out?

Use that evidence, race it around
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary
Kudos, my hero, leavin' all the mess
You know my hero, the one that's on
