The meta during japan's christmas: KFC, Cakes (preferably strawberry shortcake), pizza, karaage, crisps, and of course, beer.
It's either you spend it with your family, or spend it with your bf/gf.. and not alone
Except everyone is working as it is not a public holiday.

So nice not to see Car commercials for Christmas. Sick of the trend in America where your supposed to buy a car for Christmas. Have it food, family, entertainment and all is good. This reminded me of the Christmas commercials from 80's America.

We've been doing it wrong the whole time.
Stereo Type, My best friend Keiko who lives in Hokkaid has Turkey, then again they live in a highly catholic area.
KFC IS HUGE IN CHINA as well... I never heard of anyone going to KFC for christmas dinner much less having to book them in advance.

Dude Japan is KFCs second largest consumer worldwide its more than a stereotype it’s literally true. I have more than a few friends that are Japanese and they all eat KFC around Christmas even though they don’t even live there anymore. Also the 2 main religions in Japan are Shinto and Buhddism, your friend is a bit of an outlier 0.7% of Japanese people are Christian.

Apparently they love to eat chicken in japan on Christmas. So many commercials about chicken. I'm so hungry.
I kinda wish KFC would have convinced folks stateside to eat fried chicken on Xmas too. Ham or goose and all the fixings is a pain in the ass to prepare

A few decades ago, KFC made a ad saying "Christmas = KFC" and that's were it originated from. Christmas was also introduced around the time KFC made that ad, so that's why many Japanese eat chicken in Christmas

Ya know, weird as they are these commercials really do put me in the Holiday mood. Japan really loves Christmas and knows how to keep the spirit of it alive- in their own, weird special way.

My cats love Ciao. FrenchyPoo especially loves the chicken fillet. She stands in the kitchen and meow-chirps and I say, "Chicken snack?" and she meow-chirps. She gets very excited about her bird-based snacks.

Japan does Christmas commercials better than the USA. In the USA now it's just car commercials.
I thought Christmas was more about couples in Japan. Most of these commercials seemed to center around family and the holiday spirit.
Toon Link I think couples spend 24th together, and have dinner with family on 25th.

Cultural differences: Here, if you got your Xmas dinner from 7/11, you would be considered a loser. I know that if I brought home KFC for Xmas, my family would disown me. ...they’d be chowing down on its deliciousness while I froze outside, but they would still disown me.

It failed in America but was still super popular and selling in Japan. The American audience didn't get nearly as much videogames as the Japanese.

I find Japanese commercials are consistently Super Bowl commercial levels of interesting. It's too bad western commercials aren't consistently interesting.
