Pretty cool to see the frozen and flowing falls. Looks like the snow and winter have found you. I think we are starting to see the winter slowing and the days getting warmer. Great lunch spot. Awesome comparison photo too. Take care and have a great day.
It was pretty wild to see. I don’t get to see them frozen very often. I seen some of your trip. Snorkeling and enjoying the beautiful weather. Looked like a lot of fun
It was nice meeting you out there too. It sure was magical out there. Can’t believe how warm it is now. Have you been back? I bet the waterfalls are flowing good right now.
@BackpackingWithJason Not been back there since. Had a short trip back to foothills to fill in a fire closure from a thru hike down there. Usually hit it every month or two for a short trip since it's so close to the house. I'm sure it's vastly different now though with these temps.
Big fan of both it gives even more reason to get out in different seasons. Pretty cool having the guys in the distance for scale that was a huge frozen fall.
Man the gorge is so beautiful with snow. I’ve never been able to be down there when it’s snowed. Love the frozen waterfalls. Can’t wait to get back there
This is in Southern Kentucky. Van Hook Falls area. Close to Tennessee. There’s lots of waterfalls and camping areas but everything was frozen. Pretty cool to see. Would love to show you this area one day 😁
I missed out on our BRIEF winter 😢. Its been so warm, that I'm already feeding the bees! Hopefully I'll get a chance for a snow trip in the next month, before it's all over
Beautiful winter wonderland. The frozen waterfall was impressive. I thought you were gonna do an overnighter. Thank you for sharing. Take care Jason. 🇺🇲
Totally beautiful. Back in the 90s snowmobiling in Vermont I used to go to a waterfall between Killington and Rutland called Wheelerville falls( not sure of the spelling). It’s wasn’t very wide but it had 3or4 drops. The way ice and snow formed was spectacular. The water would intertwine and flow in various ways depending on the weather that time of winter, it was beautiful. You would love it. I think the proper convocation is better than straight water or ice.
awesome winter hike! tough call about which is better/// sure is an amazing scene when it is frozen but i like the warm weather better// great hike thanks for taking us with you
Beautiful scenery Jason! Crazy how frozen everything is in your neck of the woods! Also crazy to think people climb frozen waterfalls with spikes and ropes. I'll pass on that lol.
i remember my first time seeing a frozen waterfall, hey we all gotta start somewhere. cool video dude !i hope you were burning some stuff..toke-eep warm it looked cold...
I’ve seen frozen waterfalls before, just not at Van Hook Falls. It was pretty wild to see. We was definitely toking and there might have been some shrooms involved too. Lol.
I think it might have been colder down there than it’s been up here in NH , it’s been plenty cold but we haven’t had a day below zero yet. The Gorge looks awesome with the snow and ice.
A far out looking forest trail at this time of year Jason. How far did the temperature drop out there for all that ice? It looks amazing - what a playground. Well, all the best out there. Mark
@@BackpackingWithJason Hey, that's good Jason mate. I was wondering what it dropped down to freeze like that. Must have been minus 8 or so for a week. Take care dude.
We used to do this all the time growing up in Ohio....Down here in the South, where we barely have winter, they close off all the accesses, you can't even get to a lot of them... Enjoy !
the frozen waterfall has a beauty all of its own but the running waterfall is nicer with the sounds of falling water mate *🥸its a full view😎Au🦘A big like👍☑*
Jason, great video as usual. Taking a backpacking trip to RRG next weekend and haven’t put together a plan yet. Heading down Friday after work and hiking Saturday and Sunday. Any suggestions?
@@BackpackingWithJason it’s not my first time. However I’m taking three of my kids, and it’s their first time. Their ages are 16,12,& 12 possibly by nephew who’s 10.
@jachenault I’d do Auxier Ridge loop and stay out there one night. And go see Grays Arch and Corrosion Cove and go stay out at Hanson’s Point for the second night. You’ve probably seen those areas but I think the kids would enjoy seeing those spots.

I had to get out there and enjoy it while it was here. It came and went really fast.
Very nice! I’ll have to watch this again this summer when it’s 110° down here.😉

Looked like another great trip. Beautiful Kentucky scenery. Love that KY life!

Frozen gorge, so beautiful! Planning a trip down there in the next couple of weeks. Can’t wait to get back !
Holler at me when you’re going down. I might be around 👍🏻
That was very nice. Impressive freeze. That is why I like hiking year around. It's like doing a new hike.
Take care Jason.
I’ve been in this area a bunch of times but it was my first time seeing it frozen. It was really beautiful
Awesome, can't beat those conditions. Being from North eastern Canada, I love wintertime hiking. 👍👍

wow beautiful, and here in my last camping video was 57’F at night 😅
It’s in the 50’s now. But I did enjoy the snow and ice while it was here. Have a great day my friend

.. Very Nice ..
It sure was beautiful
Love a good frozen waterfall! I don't get to see that very often, though. I'll take either fall.
I don’t get to see them frozen very often too. It’s in the 50’s nowadays. I’m glad I got to see them while I could
HA! I stockpiled those Hormel Compleats during the 2020 lockdown. I didn't even think I could use them backpacking!
I think they’re delicious. Easy to cook on trail too.
Beautiful scenery Jason! Crazy how frozen everything is in your neck of the woods! Also crazy to think people climb frozen waterfalls with spikes and ropes. I'll pass on that lol.

Love that, man!
Thank you my friend. It sure was beautiful
Definitely very cool looking when it is frozen like that. Awesome stuff.
Thank you my friend
The waterfall is beautiful! Those Compleats meals might be the death of you, friend. They're super sketchy. 🤣 Very pretty footage! 👊

Loved seeing it while it was here. Can’t wait for our next adventure together brother
yinz got it nice, I like frozen as long as it is not frozen muddy water. winter wonderland at its finest
I think it was 12 degrees that day. Every waterfall was frozen. It was pretty cool to see.

I definitely should have done that 😂😂
I prefer the non-frozen ones LOL
