The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

BJ’s cover of the Hank Williams classic I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry is epic.❤
My condolences go out to the Family and Friends for the loss of BJ.
My dad had this record and used to play it when I was a kid in the 70s. I don't remember that well, but Good memories anyway
Bring's back good memories, rip B.J.
When I was 15 my date picked me up by taxi cab & took me to see B. J. Thomas in concert, too young to drive,,,pretty cool memory,,,♥️
...I was 10 yrs. old (1970) when I listened this song for the first time.....I'm 65 now and here I am listening the same song a little more than half of a century later...🥲
when was the song released actually? I look in Google, it said 2003 and I'm confused..

One of the most beautiful songs ever… . Always loved this song… . Wish I could live in 70s… .
Me too.
The best years for sure. ❤
His gospel album is super good - such a talented, peaceful soul. RIP
Right song, right guy at the right time. Timeless. R.I.P. Mr. Thomas.
大好きな歌なので聴けてよかったです!ありがとうございます!

Gotta say, the cloud wranglers did a fantastic job on this number. The thing worked beautifully!
Once you hear this B.J Thomas’ singing voice and melody, you will never forget it. Furthermore, it is also drawn into singing ability.
Another masterpiece by Bacharach/David and the right singer to sing it. BJ Thomas had some hits before this, but what he does with this song is simply magical. I loved this song as a youngster and I still love listening it today more than 50 years after its release. Thanks for the great music and memories, BJ Thomas, Burt Bacharach and Hal David...
A true classic.
I remember too the french cover by Sacha Distel "Toute la pluie tombe sur moi". It was great too.😊
❤ I had a boyfriend for ten years who still reminds me of B.J. Thomas to this day. Also, this was the first song I learned to sing at 5 years old! My friend and I have lost contact. It was an awesome relationship. Thanks for great memories, B.J., in more ways than one!
I hope you are reunited in the future. It can happen.
B.J. Thomas had gorgeous green eyes.
I was living in Miami when this song came out now that I think of it I was living the dream
I loved all of B.J. Thomas's songs.
My dad loved this song. Every time I hear it I think of him.
Ed Sullivan Show 1969, a couple of days ago. May they both rest in peace 🕊️.
Rain magically stops when Ed walks up, then begins again when he steps away. Ed even controlled mother nature. :) Good thing this was lip sync as a live microphone might not have ended so well for BJ.
Good times ever !
A one of a kind singer. We will miss him dearly. Loved all of his songs...
ya ok. bern sung this... burt bacharach pushed him
Huge, mega hit of the 70's!
It's really raining today in South Central, Los Angeles , California . This is one of my favorite songs so it's the very 1st song I played today.😇 God bless everyone everywhere always🙏. I❤️🔥send only very much love❤️🔥peace✌️ and joy🤗 to each and everyone world wide
✌️💫❤️🔥🌏❤️🔥💫👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
I grew up when I was a kid born in 65. Singing this song, it was always a staple for me when life really hit the bottom gutters were all around. Raindrops kept falling on my head
Great song ❤❤❤
BJ was good people. God bless him and his family. He was the best neighbor I never really knew; except when it mattered the most.
This was the #1 song the week I was born. January 22, 1970. What a great song to have at number 1 upon entering this crazy world. Thanks BJ.
I learned to play this on the piano when I was 10 years old for my piano lessons. Oh what fun those times were!! Wish we could go back.
What a good sport he was. Another reason to like BJ Thomas.
Yes, one of THE very best. May he rest in peace.
I was born 1960, My mother loved all music, and so do I. This is one of my live your best life songs!😊 Great job for BJ Thomas, Burt Bacharach, and Hal David. Rest In Peace, thank you for a wonderful song. ❤
Tremendous Burt Bacharach masterpiece! RIP Burt!
It was said that BJ was totally shocked when he got showered from the prop cloud overhead…but he had the number one hit in the country at the time so he took it all in stride both during the performance and afterwards when he shook Ed’s hand….now THAT’S CLASSIC TV
The pride of Rosenberg,Texas. RIP Mr. Thomas. One of the most beautiful male voices!
Loved him. My first favorite was Hooked on a Feeling.
R.I.P B.J!
What wonderful memories this brings back! Wish I could relive them!
This brings back memories of My childhood... just like it was yesterday. I was six years old running outside and the "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" ... not a care in the world! BJ Thomas, thank you for the Beautiful Memories. 💙 May you Rest In Peace 🕊 Your Legacy will endure forever!! ♾

BJThomas voice was perfect with his unpretentious personality! just perfect notes! and music! ❤️❤️❤️👋👋👋👋👋👋
언제 들어도 좋은 노래. 특히 심야에 들으면 더욱 좋은듯
This was my favourite song when I was a kid. Haven’t heard it in years.
What’s ironic is that this makes me appreciate the wind and rain 😂
RIP BJ
RIP BJ Thomas. I wish I got to see you live when you were alive, but this is the best I can do really. Btw I love it when they perform the whole song front to back with a lot of these “live” performances. When they cut out a verse or two it usually isn’t worth watching.
How haven’t I been informed about that.. alright Time to cry
You're right dude Sam, BJ Thomas was a great human being when I found out that he died broke my heart :(
Greetings from San Luis Potosí, México i love you guys :)
BJ might be gone and resting in Jesus, but those memories you cherish will be with you always. As for me, I met him at a Bible study for state workers at the Arizona State Capitol in Phoenix in 2011. Great demeanor and a wonderful man.
Phenomenal. I could listen to this and watch this on repeat forever.
A bittersweet song indeed.
… Beautiful voice. 🤗 Brings back memories from childhood at my grandma’s house 🏡 with the radio on. 🌷
I just loved that time.... The world seemed so much better and less complicated. It's the time period not my age. 1970 I was 1 year old.
That's funny, wherever he goes, the cloud goes with him! I remember this song so well, I was three or so when it came out and in the mall of the apartment building I lived in they would play this song on the sound system. This one and 'Up, Up and Away, in My Beautiful Balloon', which came out contemporaneously. I also remember, 'Those Were the Days, My Friend", for similar reasons. It's funny the things one remembers from one's youth.
As a little girl, I did a dance routine with an umbrella.☔ Brings back fond memories hearing this song. 💖
Another fantastic hit from this beautiful soul. 1970 was a gr8 yr 4 me .. 15 goin’ on 16 .. not a care in the world it seemed. Rest In Peace with The Lord BJ🇦🇺🇺🇸🙏
I used to love watching Ed Sullivan. Brings me many fond memories of Sunday night and watching TV with my mom and dad. Only got 4 channels back then, sometimes 5 depending on the weather. LoL!
Sue Parras I did the same thing. It is like going back in time.
A song that inevitably takes me back to childhood and reminds me of the wonderful movie that we all have in mind... Rest in peace B.J.Thomas... Great!
❤
When I hear this song I think of Spiderman 2
"Butch Cassidy and Sundance kid"
@@ulyssedesfleurs1238 Yess!! Great movie!!
That's why I love rainy days, it's because of this song... makes me feel happy, giddy and in love with a boy whom I never expected that he loves me too ❤ Young love, first love.
A great singer
👏👏👏👏👏
Beatiful song for a day of rain❤
When I visited Washington DC for the first time with a friend of mine we were walking up the Pensylvania Avenue it started raining and we began to sing this Song
It was amazing!
So great❤😊
Howcome i never heard this song before !! This is pure bliss
Loved his voice
This song was number 1 when I was born 1/13/70
I saw him at the Grand Ole Opry in 2001 and he was still really good. Great songwriter.
I loved him
What a beautiful song......
Música linda para começar o sábado.
Me faz lembrar de tantas coisas boas do passado
Hairdresser: "Would Sir like a parting or a fringe?"
"yes"
What a neat voice. I definitely knew of him by name, but could not have identified him by voice. Now I know why he became famous
There are many rain songs, but I love this one the most❤️
Soundtrack of my childhood BJ was amazing, such a distinctive voice ! RIP BJ. A big fan Frank NYC !
I guess we'll never get music back like this a
Nice one
One of my favorite songs as a kid , thanks for the memories ❤️❤️❤️
Very beautiful! It must have been pretty cool to live back then.
It was cool!!
A simpler time, I miss it so.
Beautyful, even 50 years after.
Thank you for sharing this. The part where it rains on him is comedy genius. 😂😂😂RIP BJ. Thankful for all the great memories he gave us 🙏 ❤️
Great song that brings back so much
RIP. B. J. Thomas. You are now above the clouds. Please send rain for us here, we are in urgent need. 👉🏻 🇧🇷 👈🏻
Rest in peace B.J Thomas, i hope nothing is worrying you.
RIP Hal David (May 25, 1921 - September 1, 2012), aged 91
RIP Burt Bacharach (May 12, 1928 - February 8, 2023), aged 94
RIP B. J. Thomas (August 7, 1942 - May 29, 2021), aged 78
You will be remembered as legends.
This reminds me of the end of 6th grade, when students were required to come up with some sort of 'talent' act for music class at my school. Two girls did an umbrella duet routine to this song, and one of them became an officer in the high school drill team 6 years later. They may have been inspired by this show which aired about 4 months earlier, and may have even lifted some of the same dance moves.
Rest in paradise 💔
BJ Thomas and Burt Bacharach and jamming together once again. Two giants I will miss. RIP!
i was a youngster this song always makeme sad! great song!!
I LOVE This Song. In fact I love all the music from that period of time. It makes a happiness appear in the heart out of the blue. Feel better comes to sit for a minute and then smile shows up. Conscious shows up late and says, it sure is great to see you guys again.
All of us over 55 remember this song played in the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I feel in love with the song and Paul Newman at the same time! Oh the memories!
Hello Rebecca 👋, How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I'm mark Owen and am from San Diego,California , where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
Exelente video
I love this song so much! Good vibes all the time. R.I.P
Thank you, Burt 🎵❤️
BJ Thomas was a good sport to put up with the rain cloud nonsense.
I love this song and him 😢❤❤❤❤😊
Năo consigo imaginar músicas e programas de TV assim hoje em dia. Havia até uma certa ingenuidade no modo de se fazer arte.
2023 and im still hear that beautifull song😊😊😊
Toda una gran melodía en quedar inmortalizada.
