Vince is half right. Lobsters never stop growing, they don't do decline. Til the end, they are boosting their mass and therefore their boss status. But eventually during one of their molting sessions they run out of energy and just give out. It can be a good 50 or 60 years before that happens though, a good run for a critter like that.
