We don't get this everyday. No promotion, no soapboxes, no publicity campaigns; just the genuine article for the first time in at least a decade.
It occurs to me that "the border" may be metaphorical--the border between straight and queer or between male and female, for instance. For me the song is about someone leaving home to go to New York, a place where they will be free to live an authentic life.

you have the tools to make this available within the spotify app or via other means on your phone or whatever device. you have to work for it just a little bit, so I imagine that’s the reason. A bit of an artistic statement via method of release.
