what i love about thomas is that he is never trying to impress you. he is always singularly trying to impress himself by challenging himself and taking everything he does to another level. This quality even by itself could be the reason you are now watching a thomas pridgen video on youtube.

Before watching the clip (and knowing both Gadd and Pridgen's styles), I thought "WTF is he talking about", and was gonna rag on your for it. Luckily, I stopped myself and watched the video first - and you totally nailed it. This solo is both Gadd and Pridgen in equal portions. Kudos!

I've noticed he likes tomes that are mounted on the kick. I know its probably a quicker set up, but chances are he's not always setting them up.

We all know Thomas is a great drummer and can do unbelievable things on a drum set. But I love this solo because it's so free and kind of sloppy. You can really tell he's just playing what comes to him, he's really 'in the moment'. Yet another example of how the importance of Imperfection, musical personality and feel greatly outweighs being perfect all the time and having awesome technique (not that Thomas doesnt have that either).

Whenever he yells because he "messes up"; it doesn't bother me. He always seems to be trying new ideas to excite himself; which, right in front of a crowd, excuses any flubs in my book. He's getting better and better.

Pot and drum solo's don't mix clearly this guy is high and his eratic leaps in tempo and co ordination make this solo really hard to understand
