funfact to the R-23/24/27t's: these are medium rage heatseekers that are meant to be used in a ripple-fire. Meaning: You're supposed to fire 2 of the missiles: 1 radar and 1 heater (with a wingman for the older ones). The reason is that if a jet gets the warning about the radar-missile they are supposed to go defensive, wich turns their rear more towards the missile, thus "extending" the range of the heatseeker. This tactic doesn't work in WT though because flares and chaff are linked by default.
@@reinni2968 I just did a quick check and apparently in WT the R-3S has a 0.5Km lower lock-on range (4Km vs 3.5Km) and ~1Km maximum range in rear-aspect (10Km vs 9). Both are practically identical as far as gameplay goes and both have the same 10G overload, but yes, the R-3S is ever so slightly inferior. Same goes for the PL-2, it's a copypaste of the R-3S in game.
I'd say the PL-5B or Magic 1 are both better rear aspect missiles than the R-60, at least in game. Same pull or even better, and far better range and flare resistance.
The Firestreaks are actually good when used with the Gloster Javelin. It’s at such a low BR for missiles that many targets at tier or in a downtier don’t have any flares. Go rear aspect and it’ll pull surprisingly well. The Javelin will struggle in an up tier tho.
R-73s on Su25BM seem to be worse than R-73s on other aircraft. Sure, yeah, you don't get HMD or high enough speed to give them inertia at launch but they don't seem to pull half as hard and they get 1 flared all the time no matter the aspect or if enemy cut afterburner. I think those, being first R-73 in game, were experimental for Gaijin and they artificially nerfed them so people don't cry out about them, then just forgot they exist and left them gimped.
aim9 bs are far from the worst. there actually quite usable. not saying there perfect... but theres a reason every nation has an aim9b or a reversed engineered version of aim9b... cause it was the first air to air missile that actually worked...

Technically everyone will say red tops. And you should because they are better than the fire streak. Truth be told: You have more odds of killing by banzaicharging the enemy aircraft because from personal experience British IR missiles will miss a straight flying non flaring aircraft from 1km very consistently.
